I visited this facility

My brother will be moving to Quillen Manor and we chose that facility because my other brother lives nearby. My daughter and her family also live nearby and we'll be moving to the same place as my brother is. So, everyone in our family will be in the same physical area. We won't be very far apart in distance. They play games on certain days. They have pastors from different denominations that come and do devotional seven days a week. The facility was clean. The staff was very nice. The person that did the tour was very nice. She took all the time we needed. She didn't rush. We looked at several apartments that people were living in and they were very positive in everything they had to say about it. The independent living apartments were nice.

Quillen Manor is a huge place. It's a very nice facility. I just didn't see their enthusiasm about my husband's recovery or being able to gain his strength and move back home. The staff was very nice. The rooms were nice and clean. We could bring food and go to a private room. The dining area was nice, roomy, and clean. They had a screened porch. It wasn't very big, and a few people could go out on the porch.

Provider Response

Hello Linda and thank you for taking the time to leave us such helpful feedback. We are always looking to improve our community so know that each suggestion and piece of input creates a space for us to ensure we are always growing and working towards new ways to make life enjoyable at Quillen Manor.

I visited this facility

Quillen Manor was very nice inside. They had activities, a community room, a nice dining room (they just had a new chef), and games like bingo. The lady that toured me around was also nice. They had a beauty salon, laundry service, housekeeping service, and a bus that would take them to doctor's appointments or wherever they needed to go. The rooms were nice. They have rocking chairs out on the front porch and little areas outback where they can go out to sit and read. Everything was clean.

Quillen Manor was OK. The people looked lonely and the staff was unprofessional. The room was OK. They bring one meal a day to your villa and they said they have occasional things down in the assisted living part.

I am/was a resident of this facility

It was a last-minute decision for me to move to Quillen Manor. I'm in their assisted living, and I'm also taking physical therapy. Everything is substandard, except for the housekeeping. The administration does not care and situations are never rectified. The staff is surly most of the time. They slam doors at night and it's terrible. I can't wait to get out. The food is very poor and it's not nutritious at all. They need a better attitude in addressing problems and taking care of the residents. There's just a bad vibe here. They do have activities here. We have morning devotion, chair exercise, and bingo. We have music groups that come and we have preaching. Those are the regular ones but there are also different activities that are not regular. The director of activities is very good. The gym is related to the physical therapy department, so it's not open to the general public. There's a courtyard, but most people can't get out in it because of the walkers and equipment, but it's not bad. I have a horrible roommate though. She took over the space and I don't have a say in it, and that's part of my frustration.

Provider Response

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We will make sure we address any concerns you have here. Having a shared space can be stressful but we want to make sure we make you comfortable in your home. Please ask to see the Executive Director as soon as possible so she can visit with you. Even if you are departing, we want to ensure we’re doing everything we can for all of our residents.

For a brief tour that I had with Quillen Manor, I was impressed. It smelled clean, looked clean, and fresh. It's a place I will consider putting my mother once I finish my research. Everybody was friendly and seemed happy. It's just about ten minutes from my house, so I'm very happy about the location. It was also well-decorated and didn't look old.

I went to Quillen Manor. It's very well kept. It hasn't been remodeled in a while, but as it is, it's been well taken care of and they have some semi-private rooms and some private rooms. But for the pricing, I could have only afforded a semi-private room. When I did the tour last month, they didn't have any openings, and they said probably in January, if not by February, they would have a couple of openings. For semi-private rooms, you have four people and they share a shower or bath. The staff was ok. They didn't go out of their way to impress me. I guess the biggest thing was that they had no openings anyway, so they weren't trying to sell me on the place. The dining area was very large. When we went through it, they had people there that were singing Christmas carols. They had a salon, and they had common areas where they would have TVs.

Quillen Manor was very nice. It's a small facility, which is good. I have nothing bad to say about it. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Everything's very clean. It smelled good. It looked good. The rooms were nice sized. I only looked at semi-private rooms. I didn't look at private rooms because I'm not sure that mom's going to get enough from the VA to accommodate a private room, but they do have both. They have a beauty shop, a salon, community activities, and they do manicures and stuff. They had the games and all that sort of thing that the roommates enjoy. They have a gazebo area. It's nothing fancy, but it's nice and it's clean. The yard was all cleaned up. The one person that walked me through was great. It's not a new facility. It's got a little bit of age on it, but it's fine.

We toured Quillen Manor. We thought it was a beautiful place. It was nice because it was on one level, and it was a beautiful place inside and out. The lady was pleasant. She was nice and informative. We looked at one apartment. It was beautiful, wonderful. She gave us some information and some literature.

Quillen Manor was perfect, unfortunately, just not in our price range. It's still a good price though. They were amazing, I like everything about it. It felt like it would be a perfect place for my dad. We talked to the chef and I was very impressed. They showed us a single and double apartment and they were all great. We saw the cafeteria, the rooms and they showed us the common areas. They're all great.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother in-law is at Quillen Manor. The staff, the people there, and the place were just fine. It's just a challenge moving and living there, or living anywhere. She has her own apartment and stuff, but she just can't do it anymore so it's been a challenge. We haven't heard any complaints about the food, which means it's probably pretty good because she is typical, she complains about the food a lot. In general, we're pretty happy that it worked, because that really was hard. It would be good if some of their overall procedures were a little bit more documented or explained upfront. Just minor things, like we were there and we could've borrowed a shower curtain, and we didn't know we needed to bring a shower curtain. There should be a list of what people usually bring. A few things like that would've been nice. They had showed us like a stretching activity that they're trying to get her to participate in for, I think, ample days a week. The activities director has been really helpful and she also helped us with Facetime.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved to independent living at Quillen Manor. It's been very good. I like the size of it. The people are very nice and friendly. The unit that I picked, I like it a lot, it has the flowers and everything all over the place. The food is alright. I'm not a good eater. The food is good. The assisted living facility is not open to everybody going in and out. In today's environment it's as well as it can be, but there's like a library across the street, there's a theatre across the street that is walkable. I've not been here for a long, long time, but as far as I know, most of the people here in the independent living section drive or have access to automobiles. The things that you think normally that they have, they cannot have because of COVID. I've not been here long. There is a disadvantage because of the environment that we're in right now. With the food, I'm not a food eater, so it has nothing to do with them, it has to do with me.

Quillen Manor has superseded our expectations. I could not ask for more and they could not give more as they give their absolute all to love my mother like their own. I do not live in town so I’m only able to visit a few times a month. They are very good with communicating to me anytime there is a change, new medicine added, the doctor or nurse sees my mom for a visit, if she needs something, etc. I mean really anything. This gives me such peace of mind and I am so forever grateful for all of them. Our whole family is.

My father is in Quillen Manor. Their price range was what I wanted, but the communication about medication is a little bit of a problem. The food looks fairly good. He's always playing bingo there, and they have an entertainment room with a large TV. It's very clean, and the outside is very nicely kept. It's a very nice place.

Quillen Manor is beautiful, and the staff is very friendly. A resident allowed us to tour her unit, and she was very friendly as well. The atmosphere was wonderful. The apartment that we saw was beautiful and clean. Everything looked great. The landscaping outside, the parking lot area, and the dining hall were great. They were setting up some games when I was there. The dining area looked more like a cafeteria, but it looked great and clean. They have a hairstylist, they take them shopping, and they have exercises and church services.

I went to Quillen Manor. I gave them a deposit and I'm on a waiting list. It looks really good. I'm on a waiting list for a 1-bedroom, and they gave us a tour of the apartment there. It's wonderful, they have a dining hall, and they have assisted living. Melissa, the staff member, was great, and answered all of our questions.

Quillen Manor had the assisted living right next to the independent living. The whole facility seemed very nice, more modern, fresher paint, and cleaner looking than where my father is now, and the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. It just came down to the money. The only openings they had at the time were a double room and a suite. They had transportation to and from the doctors, a pharmacy on the premises, a doctor comes once a week, field trips, and common areas. The staff was extremely nice, took us on a full tour, showed us the kitchen, and showed us the different rooms. They had outside areas for smoking and for non-smoking.

Provider Response

Quillen Manor was not too bad but it wasn't right for my mother. The place had an odor. The staff seemed to be fairly nice. They had a garden and a wonderful little screened-in area to sit out on and rock in which I liked.

I didn't like Quillen Manor. The walk for meals was downhill and the walk back was uphill; I don't do well with strenous walking. Each apartment was on ground level. In fact, they were building more while I was there. Everything looked new. It was newer than the other community, but it was the walk that got me. The room was very nice; it looked new. However, they only serve one meal a day. The staff was very pleasant and very nice. She was a substitute, but she was still very well-dressed, very nice, and very knowledgeable.

The people at Quillen Manor were fantastic, they sat with us, and talked to us. They were great, we sat and complained and they listened to me. The only complaint I had was that the office where they do the interviewing is really tight. But it was clean, and all the people there seemed to be happy. The building for the assisted living was the main building, and they have small houses on the side for the independent living residents. The place was clean, they had refreshments, and everybody stopped and talked to us on our way. We looked at three rooms, one was a private room, and there was one with two rooms separated by a bathroom. We also looked at a transition room where they go while waiting on their permanent room, but the bathroom there wasn't conducive to my mom since she doesn't have a lot of mobility left. The last time we went, they were doing some exercise activities in one of the meeting rooms, and it was really kind of neat. They also had the residents sitting out on the screened-in back porch and they were talking about different kinds of birds. They were pretty active.

Quillen Manor was our favorite and the one we liked the most. The housing and place were very nice. The people were very nice and friendly. The housing was all brand new, had good space, and was very pretty. They had a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. All of it was very good, and I'm very impressed.

We visited Quillen Manor, and I wouldn't mind being there myself. They took care of us, showed us around, and told us some future developments which would be ready next year. The staff was very informative, polite, and very nice. We're interested in the cottages.

Quillen Manor is amazing. All of the caregivers are so sweet, caring, and accomadating to the residents. My dad was a resident and he felt very loved and cared for. They are also very supportive of the families of their residents . Quillen Manor has events like Thanksgiving dinner that you can go to with your family member. It's really fun for the residents! Also, if your family member likes really good southern cooking, this is the place for them. And you can also have a pet, which is really important to some elders when leaving home to live somewhere else. I'm very thankful that Quillen Manor was suggested for my dad when he was in a rehabilitation center after being in the hospital.

This facility is a medium size assisted living facility. My mother is a resident there. My brother and I visited numerous assisting living places before making the decision to move our mom there. The care givers at Quillen are superb. Working at Quillen is not just a job to them. They genuinely care for the residents there and they are top notch when it comes to taking care of their charges. My mother did not want to go into assisted living but because of TIAs and other medical problems she could no longer live in her home. She has been at Quillen a little over 4 weeks now and she loves it. We are so happy that she has adjusted to her new home. She receives 3 cooked meals a day, there are qualified medical personnel on staff and this facility hires qualified employees for cooking, maintenance, caregiving, housekeeping and executives. You can't go wrong if you live near Greenville SC and you choose Quillen for assisted living care.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom has moved into Quillen Manor about three or four months ago. The people are very nice and it's a very nice apartment; we're very pleased with it and it's affordable. She loves it there and they've made her transition a lot better. They have maintenance 24/7, if anything goes wrong; they're there to take care of it. All she has to do is pay the rent and everything else is provided for her. Another great feature is that it's about five minutes away from my house, which makes things a lot easier as well. Also, they have security there as the police monitoring the area really well; they have a small town police department and they patrol the area during the night and early morning hours. They keep a good eye on it, which makes is very reassuring because you don't have to worry about it.
