My aunt moved to Garnett Place Retirement Community and it is a wonderful place. It was completely redone and it is well staffed. They are very caring and well qualified. The residents are very happy, too, and well taken care of. The amenities are wonderful. I can't say enough good things about it, and it is very competitively priced. Their policy is that they ask that the residents to pay the first two years of being there, and if they should run out of funds after the first two years, then they can go on Title 19. In other words, they won't throw them out if they have to go on Title 19. So, they provide excellent care. They also have an exercise room, several really nice activities rooms, and a beautiful dining room. I think it's just great. My aunt's apartment has a washer-dryer hooked up as well.

Overall, the staff at Garnett Place was friendly. The residents had smiles on their faces and seemed content. The room that we looked at had been recently upgraded. It was newly painted and had a new carpet. I just didn't care for the dining area. It needed some facelift, and when you walked into the main lobby of the facility, there was an odor. It wasn't like urine or anything like that. So, that turned us off, but the lady did a great job. She covered everything so that by the time we finished the tour, we had no questions. She was very, very organized and a good communicator. They had nice outdoor spaces, too.

We went to Garnett Place Retirement Community and toured it. I liked what they had to offer for independent living. My mom could have been in something that was like a townhouse, which was really nice. I like the idea that she'd have more of a home than an apartment. It didn't offer everything all the way through skilled nursing. We didn't want to have to keep moving her. In terms of activities, it seemed like they had some nice stuff. She'll have her own laundry and her own garage. Her going from her big old house into a townhouse was what was most appealing to me in going into that place. We only met with one person, and she was fine and very thorough.

We saw Garnett Place Retirement Community. We got to see a room. It was a nice size. My mother liked it. We visited the cafeteria, the rec room, or activities room. We thought the people there were incredibly friendly. It just looked like everything ran very well. The person who greeted us was very kind and friendly, as well as the person who showed us around. I think she was the marketing director, we really liked her a lot. The facility was beautiful. It was well kept. It was really close to where my mom lives, so it was a nice location. We didn't have any complaints about it at all, except how we were gonna pay for it.

I didn't realize Garnett Place was as big as it was. It had a small-town feel to it, even though it was a larger facility. It's going through some maintenance right now. The lobby has been redone, and they're working through the rest of the area. The staff did an excellent job. In some other places though, some of the staff would come up and just kind of chat with me. Garnett was one place where I didn't see a lot of staff, and no one else really came up and chatted with me at all. The facility is a little bit hard to rate because they are going through that maintenance. If they do the same thing that they're doing in the lobby area, I think it's going to be very, very nice.

We went to Garnett Place Retirement Community and we liked it. It was very homey. They already had jigsaw puzzles out. The areas we saw were a little older, but it was still inviting. The people were so nice, but we didn't really see a whole lot of residents. It had very small dining rooms with many different dining rooms spread out, and you go to the dining room that your room is closest to. The food smelled delicious. The guy in charge of maintenance showed us around, but he knew everything. He never said, "I have to look into that". He had been there three or four years, and it was impressive. They had a library, a greeting card area with a whole bunch of greeting cards, birthday cards, sympathy cards, Easter cards, you name it. If there's a card made for it, they were all there on display. Any resident can have any one of those cards free of charge if they want to send it to someone.
