My sister is at Holiday Bethel Park. The staff is fantastic. They are very helpful. The dining facility is very nice and clean. The meals are great. They have excellent food services. The entertainment they provide is also excellent, and they have a shuttle for taking my sister to groceries or wherever she needs to go or shop at. They have a hair stylist onsite and a personal care company onsite. It's a beautiful facility.

I toured Holiday Bethel Park. The rooms were really cute, but they didn't have a walk-in closet or anything. It wasn't sufficient for what I would need. The place was nice. The units on the first floor, you could go outside which I liked, but the lobby was very depressing looking. It wasn't dirty, but the colors were so dark that it gave you that feeling. For activities, they were in a room doing bingo. The staff wanted to take me upstairs to show me where the hair salon was and something else, but I was so exhausted that I can't walk too far because my back started to hurt. But I got a bad vibe from the lobby, like when you walk in, where the receptionist is, it was not nice, and it was not inviting. It was clean, but the colors and the sofa fabric choices were so dark that it looked dirty. It didn't look like you wanted to sit down in it because it just didn't look nice. The staff was alright. He was sort of wishy-washy though. They had places where they had some raised beds so you could plant flowers or something if you wanted to. However, I didn't like that they couldn't take you to your doctor's appointment and that was important for me because I have a lot of doctor's appointments that I go to. The staff also mentioned that depending on the residency, your rent per month would vary, and I didn't like it. It was the same price as the other place, which was much nicer, so I don't know what he meant. Then they had these free deals, but the staff was wishy-washy about that, and it was too unclear to depend upon it.

The tour I had at Holiday Bethel Park was terrible. They were not on time. They put you off. They took me to lunch and it was terrible. It took too long to be served. I never really got to be with the person I was supposed to meet after 2 hours of being there. The apartment was very small. The staff said hello, but they weren't really helpful. They gave me a brochure to read, sat me down, and that was it.

Provider Response

Larry, thanks for reaching out. This is not the tour experience we want our guests to have. I’ve shared your review with the Regional Vice President and he’d be happy to talk with you more about your visit. If you email me, I’ll put you in touch.

I went on a tour of Holiday Bethel Park. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating with what we needed. They seemed to have a lot to offer the residents there. The residents seemed happy. I talked to a few of them and they said the food was good and the people were nice. The rooms were also nice, they seemed comparable to what I saw in the other places. They have a beauty shop, a library, and a place where they do exercises like chair yoga, they have mass once a month, rosaries every week, and Bible studies. They have a walking area and an area for families to visit with chairs and a pool table, which was kinda nice.

I toured Holiday Bethel Park. They were active. There were people that were ready to eat lunch, which created the activity. In one of the laundry rooms, the dryer was running, and the washer was going. It was obvious that there were people around. Our host gave us every option. She's very accommodating. The rooms were nice. They had one room that was staged with furniture and everything. The staff seemed to be wanting to fill those rooms up a little bit more. She wasn't pushy, but she indicated the options financially and everything. So right now, at this time, if I had to choose one, I would choose Holiday Bethel Park. The dining area was adequate.

Everyone at Holiday Bethel Park was very friendly and very helpful. It was clean and very nice. All our questions were answered. We felt very comfortable there. I saw a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. I liked the two-bedroom; it was very nice. I liked the tiled floor going into the hallway and into the kitchen. The studio was not to my liking because it was too small. The one-bedroom was very nice. There was a meeting room you could use with your guest. It had vending machines and some tables set up. The staff showed where they do the movie night and the library. We had lunch there, and it was very good. She had a couple of the guests come out, talk to us, and introduce themselves. They had transportation available for going shopping and to the doctors. They do some trips every once in a while. She was very thorough. It was very well kept. It could use another elevator because you have a lot of people with walkers, and there was only one elevator.

We toured Holiday Bethel Park. It was very good. The rooms were small but clean and adequate. They all had a kitchenette and a little balcony. The dining hall was very nice and very busy being used. The community looked very good. It was nice, clean, and updated. They had an exercise group, a card-playing group, a chapel service, and movies. They have a bus to take people to different shopping malls and things like that.

Grandmother is moving into Holiday Bethel Park. I liked everything that they offered. It was everything that we were looking for, and it fit our budget. Everything worked out well. They offer a refrigerator, but you're allowed to bring whatever you want. They do the cooking for them. All their meal preparations, everything is done for them. They offer them three meals a day. They are almost like gourmet meals. They put out a separate menu every day. The people there have been great and professional to work with. The first was Chris, and the other one was Denise. They were both very knowledgeable and very helpful. My grandmother tried the food, and she liked it. They showed us everything. They have game rooms, libraries, courtyards, cafeterias, and rec rooms. They have an onsite hair salon. They have the doctor's office. They offer a lot.

They had very nice counter spaces and closet spaces. There was a dining room that was nice and clean. There was an entertainment space and an exercise room. They had Bridge, card games, a pool table, a workout room, a bingo hall, and a church.

My aunt is at Holiday Bethel Park. Somebody does the laundry of her bedding and towels, so she only has to do her personal laundry. They provide meals. I've eaten there a few times and it seems OK to me. It's a very convenient place. They have transportation to the doctors and a beauty salon. They also have a lot of activities like bingo, exercise classes, and horse races, which my aunt enjoys so much.

I toured Holiday Bethel Park. It was very nice. I felt like the residents were a little bit more lively, and they were more talkative. That was our second choice. Beautiful environment. The manager was very nice, very bubbly, and welcoming. When we were there, they were playing games in the game room. They also had activities and they did have a shuttle bus that was willing to take her back and forth. They had a life alert where she would have worn that and would have buzzed to them, for them to aid and assist her with whatever she would have needed. The rooms were a nice size. It was clean. We liked that she would have had her own porch there and it wasn't like an extra fee. They were competitive and pricing. They were willing to work with us, like they wanted our business, but it ended up being a distance factor for us, not a money factor because they were ready to compete for our pricing. It's a good location. It's very clean. I would go there if we lived in the South Hills. I live in the North Hills and that's why we chose the North Hills. The dining room was nice, they have options for food. It was spacious. The residents were very friendly and talkative, and they introduced themselves to us.

I was able to visit Holiday Bethel Park. What I liked about it as soon as you went in, it was nice, airy, inviting, and bright. The grounds are kept nice. As soon as you drive up to it, it looks very nice and well-kept. The people there that we encountered were very, very nice, personable, and attentive. We even stayed for lunch, the food was fantastic. When you go into the dining room, it looks like it's set up for a wedding, everything about it is nice. The little apartments are plenty big enough for one person. They have one with a separate bedroom, they have a studio, they have a kitchenette, plenty of closets, and a separate door for a balcony. The only thing I didn't care for was that they weren't equipped for when your condition declined. You couldn't stay there because they're only independent living. We didn't have a problem with the people that we encountered there, everyone was nice.

I found this residence to be very responsive to individual needs. Both Chris and Joe were helpful, kind, friendly, and competent during our initial visits as well as during my mom’s stay. The apartment was updated and spacious. I would not hesitate to recommend this independent living facility.

When I visited Bethel Park, I thought it was very pretty and very clean. The apartments were a little smaller than I anticipated, but they were very cleverly designed. The staff was very, very nice. They offered for me to come on Christmas and Christmas Eve and do a get a sled ride. They were very hospitable. It's beautiful. Because I'm very active and my mind works, even though my ears don't work that well, the only question I have is if they have enough games and those kinds of activities. They sent me papers of the ones that they stage, and those activities are good. But what I'm interested in is if they have board games and card games. They took me through single bedrooms and double bedrooms. There was a small kitchen that was open to a medium-sized living room, it also had a deck on the outside. I think the deck took up part of the space from the living room. Whereas if I was on the ground floor, I think it would be bigger actually.

I visited Bethel Park and I liked it, I would say, for the most part. The apartment I saw was very spacious for being a small place. The residents seem to be very nice. I didn't talk to anybody, but the area that I was in, they were dining, and the apartment was very, very clean. The staff was very nice. The only thing that I hesitated about, it was not a full kitchen; it was just the sink and the refrigerator. The staff was friendly. The one lady, the coordinator for activities, came over and talked to me and my aide while we were waiting and was telling us a little bit about what went on. She gave us a schedule of what was coming up. They provided us with a lunch while we were there to see what it was like, how they served, and the food, how it tasted. The person who runs the place, gave us a tour of the place, the apartment, and talked to us about how we could set it up for ourselves based on what we liked and what we wanted. They're very knowledgeable, very personable people. The food we got was very good, I'm not quite sure about all of the food there, but what I had was very good. They had a coffee café and a library. They had an activities area and movie night. They also do laundry. They had people come and change your linens and pick up your garbage.

I liked Bethel Park. It was clean. There were a lot of activities going on and lots to choose from to do and of course the meals. I liked the location. It's close to stores, and it's about the same distance from my church. As for the staff, I wasn't really impressed that she didn't seem to know the people. She wasn't really friendly with the residents, but I'm going to just chalk that up to the fact that she was regional. You know, she wasn't located there all the time. She was very friendly though and very knowledgeable. They offer three meals a day, snacks, and all utilities (including cable). The only thing I have to pay for is my phone. They come in and clean your apartment once a week. They change your linens, wash them, and bring them back. There's laundry rooms on every floor, which I like because I wouldn't want to have to drag my laundry up and down the elevator. They had areas where you could go out and sit on the balcony.

Bethel Park was open and airy. There were people from all activity levels; not everyone was bedridden or in wheelchairs. There were some people in wheelchairs, but there were other people who were able to walk. It looked very good. It was set up almost like a hotel. I only met the sales staff, but I got the chance to talk to a few of the residents, and they said that they really like living there. The staff was very friendly, nice, and patient.

Bethel Park was very nice, they were very friendly and the rooms and the dining room were nice. It's modern-looking and very clean, it had no odor either. The staff answered all of our questions and we enjoyed the tour. They have a nice library. You go across the street for the swimming pool, they don't have a pool in their area. They have a place for recreation, games, movies, and bingo.

I toured Bethel Park. I did not like it as much as I liked the other one I saw. The part around the building was hilly, and I think the outside of it was like aluminum siding, which I didn't care for. If I wanted to walk around the building, I would have to walk uphill, and that would not be good for me. The place was clean, but I don't want to move into something I do not care for. The staff was pretty nice.

The facilities were very clean. It almost had a resort feel to it. It was just welcoming. It was a very nice place. They have a chef who prepares the menu every day. They have a game room, a TV room type of place, and an open dining room area. This was really well designed and nicely put together.

Bethel Park was a very nice facility. It's a little far out, but I really liked it. I was very satisfied. I liked the condition of the facility, the professionalism of the tour guide, and how careful they are in allowing people to enter the facility (and this is relative to COVID-19). The rooms were superb and beautiful. The surroundings were beautiful, very nice, and comfortable. The outdoor spaces were excellent. I would live there. We saw people were sanitizing and cleaning. I would highly recommend them.

We're not happy with Bethel Park. They're not cleaning and there's a bunch of different issues. The food is horrible, too. Their activities are good, but my mother doesn't participate in too many. She's just not happy there. Her room is OK, but it's not cleaned very well. The staff is nice. There's a walking area, a treadmill, and a little bike in there.

We're very pleased with Bethel Park. My mother's settled in very nicely and it's meeting her needs at this time. They have church services, movies in the movie room, special things on holidays, ice cream socials, picnics, and transportation for shopping, to a movie or lunch. There's a nice library, a barber shop and a beauty shop on-site, a laundry room on every floor, restaurant dining in the dining room, and three meals a day included. She's doing better than we expected. She loves the food.

We went to Bethel Park, my mom really liked it, and she moved in. The manager was awesome, he made her feel welcome, and he’s outstanding. The maintenance guy came in to hook up the TV, and noticed the cable was out. The caregivers are great, and she loves the staff. They have a chef there, and she loves the chef. I had a couple of meals with her, they were fantastic, and she loved them. They have bingo, crafts, and my mom helped out with the crafts; she made centerpieces for the tables. They were playing Name that Tune yesterday. She has the smallest room, a studio 1-room apartment with no balcony, but the closet space is huge, and the bathroom is huge. It’s just awesome.

We're happy with Bethel Park. It's nice, pretty, and relatively clean. They keep the grounds very nice. Everyone is very friendly and nice. For what you're getting and what you're paying, it is definitely worth it. My mother hasn't really taken part in any activities, but I know there are always things for them to do. They have their largest meal at lunch, which makes sense. They eat breakfast at 8:00 in the morning. If you're retired, why do you want to get up at 7:30 in the morning and get dressed and go down to breakfast? They have washers and dryers, but you can't use them during the day because the staff is using them to wash people's sheets. They should have a separate washer and dryer for people to do their own laundry.

We went to Bethel Park, and the food was highly salted. They had this veggie burger, and it was almost 800 mg of sodium when they said that was low sodium. They did have 2-bedroom apartments. The lady staff was very friendly. However, they don't have any managers all night. They lock the door at 7:00, and you're on your own. They give each client a medical alert button, and if there are any problems, you push that and the police will show up, which didn't really impress me too much. If something happened, they should call the paramedics, but the police come first. Also, they should lower their price a little bit; their prices were awfully high.

We visited Bethel Park. It was nice. The food was good. It was nice. The apartment was extremely small. It was very small, tight, and crowded. There was no 2-bedroom available. There was only 1-bedroom. The food was very good. They had a lot of activities going on. They had some games being played. Somebody was playing the piano. It was very nice. Geographically, it’s too far from where we live ourselves; plus, the apartment was extremely small. But the staff was wonderful. She’s very good.

My cousin is at Bethel Park. Everything seems to be fine. There is a kitchenette in the room, and the bathroom is great. Her room is much better than where she was before. It is small but manageable for her. My cousin has some disability that she is coping with, so we have help coming in to give her physical therapy and aide comes in to bathe her. We have to do that all on our own because Bethel Park is just a retirement community. The food seems to be good, though, and my cousin seems to be happy there. There are many activities going on. Everyone seems friendly and caring, so it seems like a nice, homey place, but it does need a little updating. Other than that, I’m pretty much pleased with the place. They have a good response system. They have three call buttons in her room and seem to be very responsive. They have been very helpful through this whole transition of getting her in there.

Bethel Park was very nice. The room my father would have been in was like 300 square feet wide, though, so it was basically just a small room with a bathroom. They had everything that all of the other facilities had, too, but I just couldn’t see my father spending $2,100 for a room that is that small. The facility did have a restaurant, a billiard room, and computer in the library, just like all the other ones. The staff seemed very nice, and the facility was very nice and clean.

My parents moved to Bethel Park a month ago. What they liked about it was that it was definitely within their budget -- it was affordable. They also liked that it was an independent living situation and not specifically an assisted living situation. They really love the apartment. It is huge -- two bedrooms, two full baths, very spacious, it's on a corner, large windows, lots of daylight -- and it's close to Peters, close to Mount Lebanon, close to places that they're used to. There are lots of amenities. My father has gone to a Bible study, and historians spoke the other day. They've had lots of entertainment. My mom does exercise three days a week. She is doing yoga, TheraBand exercises, and some aerobics with weights. There's a hairdresser on the site that does my mom's hair and cuts my father's hair. There's a bank that goes there once a week. St. Thomas More has a Eucharistic minister and a deacon that goes on Sundays, so they can receive communion. They're just really very happy there. There are lots for them to do, and they love the food. They have absolutely no complaints. The managers who are on-site are wonderful and extremely helpful. They really help them to integrate, meet lots of people, and feel like they were a valued part of the community.

I visited Bethel Park. The staff was very nice. They gave us a tour of the place, but unfortunately, my sister needed more help. The services were available, if she would take more, but she was on a limited income. The rooms were all very nice. They were spacious, depending on how much you wanted to pay. We were practically there for lunch, it was very good, and the people were very attentive. They had activities planned for them. They were in the area where we grew up, and it was convenient to the malls and shopping. The place was absolutely beautiful.

I visited Bethel Park. The dining room was nice. However, the rooms themselves -- the ones they have set up -- they were more for people who don't cook for themselves. They didn't provide any way for you to have a stove or a refrigerator for you to be able to cook your own. You don't even have a dining room. I guess for the people there, they like it, I ate with them, and they had good food, but I would not want to eat in their dining room every time, so that was kind of my thing. I think it was a place where you're independent in a way, but not as independent as I would like, so that was a problem for me. My suggestion for them is to provide a way for people to be able to eat themselves in their rooms. It's just not set up the way I would like it. They were nice people, and they were pleasant, but it just wasn't for me. They do have activities for the people, but I don't know if I would even want to live in one because I don't feel like I need it, at least not yet. Also, I know they do a little bit of exercise, but they need more challenging exercises, so you push a little bit. The instructors there didn't know how to push you to your limits and not hurt yourself, but there are ways to provide everybody with more exercise because that's important.
