Hester Drummond, owner and operator of Seniors Helping Seniors in-home services throughout Raleigh, Garner, Cary and Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina has deep compassion and understanding for the aging population in her community. As a nurse, Hester has found that providing care for the elderly just felt the most personally rewarding.
This feeling has now moved her to join the Seniors Helping Seniors family. “Seniors are the most honest, down-to-earth people I’ve worked with. Working in their homes brings a comfort to them, and also to me,” says Hester.
Seniors Helping Seniors in-home services matches seniors who want to help with seniors who need a little help. The senior Providers who work with Hester are able to offer light housekeeping, light meal preparation, shopping, transportation, yard work, small house repairs, and most importantly, companionship. This type of peer-to-peer care helps to foster unique relationships between Providers and Receivers that not only help seniors who are in need, but give seniors who want to help the opportunity to do something meaningful and rewarding. “Providers and Receivers have the same mindset… they have passed through the same milestones and because of that, can feel comfortable with and trust each other,” said Hester.
Hester and her husband, James, are natives of New York, and moved to North Carolina in 2007. They have three adult children, Jason, Jonathan and Raedell.
Hester has her nursing degree from Morrisville College, and prior to being a nurse she worked for the US Postal Service for 11 years.
Both Hester and James are active members of their church, Word of God Christian Fellowship Church, where they participate in Outreach Ministry. Hester also loves to sing in the church choir!
Seniors Helping Seniors in-home services has sites throughout the Country. The organization was founded by Kiran Yocom, who has a mission and a passion to help seniors live independently. Kiran’s personal interest in seniors grew out of her work with Mother Teresa. She leads the organization through compassion and caring for all.
