As the owners of the Home Instead Senior Care Office in Honolulu, we are very saddened and disappointed to hear about this experience. Among our offices, we have been helping thousands of seniors and their families for 14 years and have never had such a terrible review. Our top priority is the safety and security of the seniors we provide care for. Our extensive screening and training process of our employees includes fingerprinting, TB and drug testing, criminal background checks, employment history verification, reference checks and on-going CAREGiver training. Every year, we receive thousands of phone calls and applications from potential employees, who are interested in working for us, and in the end, only a small percentage of applicants are hired. We take great pride in having successfully helped many local families in the Honolulu area and are truly sorry to hear that this particular experience wasn't positive. It should be noted, however, that our office was never informed of any such issues. Additionally, we provide a quality control program whereby our clients are visited regularly on an unannounced basis to insure that the quality of care provided is top notch. During these visits, the quality control manager talks with the client about the level of care provided and the level of satisfaction with their CAREGiver. We would greatly appreciate it if the person who made this complaint would contact our office at (808) 944-0422 so that we can take the appropriate actions in resolving this unfortunate situation. After exhaustively researching of our clients and CAREGivers, we were unable to locate any such situation or client that matches this complaint. unreliable, don't keep their word
Don't use this agency. They sent a CNA to my friend who spent her time on the cell phone and argued with family over the phone using swear words in front of my neighbor which intimidated my frail neighbor. My neighbor was left in a very wet diaper when the caregiver left. She got rash and an infection soon after that. They promised a to return a part of her deposit for this but that was months ago. My neighbor paid thousands and got nothing back. Find a better agency if you can but don't use this one.

Home Instead Senior Care - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.
