My sister takes care of our mother with dementia who is in the late stages. Our Mom falls in the "donut hole" with her medication expenses and Mom is no longer eligible for home health care. This left gaps in her care that no agency seemed to fill. Then the dr's office suggested Hospice. It no longer is just for patients near death; but, assists with a person who has a life threatening disease for which there is no cure. Hospice helps in so many ways - paying for the meds that fall through the donut hole, paying for all her bathroom needs-depends, wipes, pads. It is a long list that is remarkable. Hospice is separate from Medicare. It covers different things. My sisters and I feel Hospice is an answer to prayer.
