In- home Hospice care can go on for longer than six months. Care can also be reevaluated if a person's health improves. Once in place, a registered nurse visits daily if necessary, but once a week,minimally. Nurse's aides visit for bathing or showering weekly. Meticulous records are kept of each activity. A doctor is on call and will make house calls. Medication is delivered to the home. Social workers and chaplains are available if requested. Medical equipment is delivered whenever necessary such as nebulizers, oxygen, commodes, wheelchairs. When death is near 24hour care begins. No aspect of this progression is left to chance. No elements are left untended.
