Gentiva has provided home care for my elderly father for several years. I live on the east coast, while my dad lives on the west coast so I rely on Gentiva. My dad uses this service for both home healthcare and companionship. I could not be happier with the support my dad receives at what believe to be a very far and reasonable price. I heartily recommend Gentiva.

When I needed someone to help assist my father at home, Maribel at Gentiva was very kind and patient with me. I was stressed out and worried and she and her staff were able to work with me and get things done in a very timely manner. Maribel and the scheduling staff were able to get a caregiver to me within a hour or so on the first day I needed someone and continued to work with me on an as needed basis since I didn't know exactly what was going to happen at the time. We needed to have someone with my father 24/7 and each caregiver we had was kind, patient and understanding of my father and his needs. They helped prepare his food, took him out on walks when he was antsy, cleaned and bathed him when he needed it. Some were even comfortable texting/calling me and giving updates for my peace of mind. Of course, we had our favorite caregivers and preferred the consistency of a familiar face for my father. They did their best to help keep the familiarity of a caregiver for him. They were very supportive during this hard time for my family. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have a company like this to assist me. For the price, they went above and beyond my expectations. I would absolutely recommend them to a friend or other family member if ever necessary. Thank you, Maribel and thank you to all the caregivers that helped us! You are a blessing. I cannot say thank you enough for all of your love and hard work.

I used Gentiva Personal Care for six weeks. The ladies were all very nice and caring to my husband, and that's the best I could say about them. However, I wasn't happy that there were four different caregivers at the beginning. I would prefer either one or two caregivers. Basically, they fixed my husband a sandwich at lunchtime, and if he had to go to the restroom, they would walk behind him to make sure that he made it there safely and returned safely. The help was very good. They were very nice, they came on time, and they were very caring. There wasn't a lot they had to do for my husband. The first two weeks, he needed assistance, and I needed peace of mind that if I had to go to the grocery store or the dentist or whatever, I knew he was in good hands.

Gentiva has provided in-home morning care for my Mom for more than six months now and the experience has been very positive. The caregivers have been top-notch (dependable, well-trained, quite attentive) and they truly care about the well-being of those they are serving. My Mom is very happy with the care she receives and I was quickly comfortable that she was in good hands. The administrative office is local, the staff friendly, and they have been responsive to all of my requests. Finding a caregiver was new to me when I first approached Gentiva, and they took the time to explain the process and to answer my questions. Care is funded with a long-term care insurance policy and the Gentiva staff has facilitated the information and record submissions for the reimbursement process so that there is little I need to do. Based upon my experience I would highly recommend Gentiva if you are looking for in-home care.

I had Gentiva Personal Care for my husband. What I liked best was that the caregivers themselves were excellent. They were not nurses but they were very caring. They seemed to bond easily with my husband and took good care of him basically. They cared about his welfare. The thing I didn't like (and it's true with almost every caregiver) is that there were times when there was no caregiver available. And so I had to do without, which was difficult because it was not possible for me to transfer him from the wheelchair to the bed. Their caregivers were really caring, they were there, they were always on time, they did exactly what they needed to do, and they took good care of my husband. The downside was that there wasn't always somebody available. In terms of the services they offered, basically, we did a lot of transferring. They could have done more things, but I was here most of the time. So they transferred him, they dressed him, and they took care of him. My husband is incontinent, so they changed him and kept him clean. They carried on conversations and were very friendly with him. The people at the agency communicated pretty well, too. When there was nobody available to substitute, they let me know most all the time. I think they had done their best to find someone. The people in the company were very friendly, very concerned, and interested that we got the care for my husband. They met all my expectations.

Gentiva Personal Care was absolutely awesome. I worked with them to care for my mother and I'm very satisfied with them. They're a very good company. They have been wonderful. My mother was walking before she went to the hospital, but when she came back, she wasn't walking, so they've been helping her use a gait belt. They've done all the extra, extra work in caring for her. They bathed her every single day, and they helped her from the bed to the wheelchair and from the wheelchair to the bed. They did light housekeeping. They massaged her hands to keep them working, and they helped her to feed herself and get her back doing some things. The caregiver was fabulous. Myra was her name. She manicured my mother's nails and just really made her happy. I'm just really happy with the service. They did a lot of things from bathing to feeding to preparing meals and to light housekeeping. I can't say enough. Myra was absolutely fabulous, and we had other caregivers by them as well that were great. They followed up and made sure that I had the help that I needed. There were times when it was almost impossible to get someone, which was not their fault, but really created a problem for me, so that's the only negative thing. Sometimes you don't have a caregiver available. That's the way the ball bounces sometimes, so I would have to do the caregiving. I'm in my 80s, so it was not easy for me to take care of my mother, and that's why I was so dependent upon Gentiva Personal Care. They were great. As far as the training, the care that was given, the attitude of the caregivers, and the attitude of the people that I called for help, I think they run a very, very good place here at Livermore, so I give them very high marks. They also were always informing me if the caregiver was going to be a little bit late.
