My Dad has been diagnosed with mid/moderate alzheimers. What a terrible, terrible disease. Sometimes I think it hurts me more than him (is this selfish to think) In any event, we are using nurses/pt therapists/ occuptational therapists/ and some home care. This has only been for about 3 months now and so far I have been happy with the care/assitance provided. I think there were a couple of things I was unhappy about, one being the OT recommended a shower chair and orders one that is really to big for the shower area - of course she had him use it so could not be returned even though my sister pointed out that smaller ones were available. So this ended up being an unnecasary expense. The only other issue is the nurse likes to sometimes share too much about her personal life. Not that I don't really care about her or how her elderly parents faired (now deceased) I was concerned about her talking about her deceased parents and their problems with me and my Dad that it might have been distressing for him.
