I am a past client of this provider
When my father was dying, we used enlisted the help of Mercy Home Health Care's Hospice division. It seemed to me that they weren't very organized, as we went through 4 nurses in one week. The last nurse we had seemed to be more "in tune" with caring for my dad, however, it was up to me to update her each day, which I totally understand. What I did not like and to this day have an issue with is the fact that I don't think they prepare the "caregiver" enough on what that person will go through when the actual death occurs. My father was at home when he passed and it is something I feel I could have handled better had I been more prepared and informed by the hospice people. I don't feel that they were around enough during his last week to explain to my family what was happening. Mostly, they came in, checked his vitals and left. My impression initially was that they would spend more time with our family and help us through this difficult process. At this moment, I would not use this company again. I will say that the home health care worker that came to bath and groom my dad was superior to none and she did more for me and my state of mind than any of the nurses or social workers -- which by the way, the social worker assigned to us really did nothing for us. An occasional phone call was about it.
