Sears Methodist Retirement System, Inc. (SMRS) opened its first senior living community in Abilene in 1966. The mission was sponsored by the Northwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, and that relationship continues today. For more than four decades, the company has grown significantly and has been dedicated to providing quality housing and services to persons 55 and better in a Christian setting, regardless of race, sex, color, religion or disability. Today the company serves over 2000 residents across Texas, on thirteen campuses in eight cities, and has more growth on the horizon.

Over the last several decades, a commitment to high-quality care and service has led Sears Methodist Retirement System, Inc. into a position of leadership in long-term care and retirement housing. Older adults today want to remain as independent and self-reliant as possible.
