Mirabella

I visited this facility and I thought it was lovely. I was uncomfortable with the price, however. I thought it was extremely high priced for what it was.

It's a new a new facility, it's attractive, it has lots of programs, it's close to everything in downtown Seattle, and it has a skilled nursing facility available in the actual apartment building where the independent living takes place. It's available in the same building.

My dear mom moved into Mirabella about nine months ago, after falling at my home (my husband and I were her caregivers) and breaking her pelvis. It was very traumatic for my mom and for us kids too. After an eight day hospital stay, she was moved into Mirabella's nursing home where she lived for about eight weeks. The nursing home was great, but even better -- has been their Memory Care Unit (same floor, just around the corner from the SNF). It's small -- only 22 residents in private rooms and the personal care my mom receives has been wonderful. A dietician checks to see that she is eating right; there is a 7 day/week activities director; 24/7 nursing; on-floor hair dresser; on-site massage practitioner; a gym and pool on the main floor; and pretty much everything else one would want for their mom. The biggest thing for me though, is that I love how much the staff loves on my mom. I can't take care of her anymore, but I do feel like she is getting exceptional care in this family-like setting. I like going to see her every Sunday and enjoy the other residents and staff very much. My mom is late mid-stage Alz, so she needs the 24/7 care that I was not able to provide at home. Finding such a lovely place has relieved me of the guilt that I had felt when my mom got hurt and needed skilled nursing.

This place was great. The faculty was very welcoming and understanding of the residents. They had great patience and created a great community of comfort and acceptability that anyone could be here. The facility was great and all in pristine condition. I would recommend this facility to anyone and I really enjoyed this visit.

This is a wonderful facility, built very recently, with great views of the nearby lake.

One floor is skilled nursing and long term care, and the rest is assisted living and a retirement community. The fact that Mirabella provides all these levels of care is a big draw for many people. And people are accepted into the skilled nursing unit even if they don't previously live in assisted living there.

All the rooms are private—and huge, which is a big plus.

The staff is helpful and friendly. When a resident has a specific request or a special need—such as makeup or a manicure, the staff simply makes sure it happens.

Meals are also specific for the needs of each resident. On the skilled nursing floor, there are several options available each day for each meal. The food is similar to hotel room service. Medical professionals who visit have nicknamed it “The Hilton of Skilled Nursing Facilities.”

There are social gathering places—including restaurants and bars—throughout the place. There is also a state of the art TV and stereo area, which residents use often, especially to watch sporting events. The residents in assisted living are free to visit other floors if they're able, which gives them a sense of continued freedom and helps with the sense of camaraderie.

Organized outings are offered several times a week in addition to the regularly scheduled activities. They seem to strive to offer events and outings that meet lots of different needs. There's an upbeat feeling that there's always something going on at Mirabella.
