D'Youville Manor

D'Youville Manor is a great facility. My grandmother lives there, and she is very happy. The facility provides all of her meals and they are delicious. She has her own room, it is spacious, and the prices are very reasonable. The facility is run by nuns, and is right next to a convent. Masses are offered frequently, and there is a priest on call. The staff is knowledgeable, and very patient. My grandmother is in great health, but does have some memory issues. They are very patient with her, and take great pains to help her remember important events, details, and visits. They also keep very detailed track of her medicines, ensure she comes down to all of her meals, and encourage her to participate in the many activities that they offer. These activities include art classes, dance classes, movie night, bus trips, picnics, and concerts. They also offer a wide variety of events for the family. They have annual parties and functions that encourage the whole family to come visit. As the mother of two small children, I appreciate that these activities are family friendly and that they are designed to engage both adults and children of all ages. My grandmother is extremely happy at D'Youville. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because we have to hire our own cleaning person to help her keep her room clean. Recently, on a visit, we found that the cleaning was not up to par. The staff, who obviously are very busy, did not really notice. We fired the cleaning lady and hired someone else, who is doing a great job. We alerted the staff to our concerns and they are keeping an eye on things. Despite this, my grandmother is very happy and D'Youville and we are thrilled to have her in such a positive, loving environment.
