I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother resided at this care facility. She was not of sound mental health and borders on certain paranoia. The staff was very caring and seemed to understand some of my mother's rituals, although at times I am sure they pushed them to the limit. My mother's room was always clean and a room air conditioner, although not central air, was in the window. It functioned properly and always kept the room cool and comfortable. The floors were always clean and I am sure that was difficult because of the number of wheel chair bound patients in the hallways. The nursing staff was available for me to consult with about my mother's progressing disease and they seemed very knowledgeable. They did not hesitate to call when my mother was "out of control" or calling the "State" because some one had "oobviously" swithched her television with a newer one. The smell was tolerable. There were a number of residents who did not have bowel control, so it seemed, but for the most part, the staff was cleaning quickly and the "old" smell didn't last long. The cafeteria area was also clean and the drinking fountains were kept clear and functioning. I was genuinely pleased with the care my mother was receiving. They even went to the extra step to make sure she had a room mate she was happy with and the view she wanted. Unfortunately, my mother's condition progressed and we moved her to her own apartment with in-house assisted living.
