I visited this facility

When I walked in The Arbors Westbury, there was a very homey feeling. The staff was very welcoming. The residents were very happy and very active. I noticed they had a lot of activities going on. The residents seemed very content. There were also a lot of great places for them to spend time, either by themselves or with other residents. There were a lot of different options for them. They really hold the Veterans in high esteem there. They have a Wall of Heroes, and they have a Veterans' meeting once a month, which I think is really, really important. I did not have a meal. When I was in the tour guide's office, the chef brought in pastries and fruit. It looked very good. I just didn't eat them. It looked very restaurant style. They had a courtyard, where they do a gardening club. They had raised flower beds. There was a nice area for them to sit outside there. It includes everything. You get three meals a day and all the care is provided, including all doctors that you would need. The rooms were updated and really beautiful with home-like furniture. They are updating everything. I saw a couple facilities, and it was very different from the other ones. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. The facility looked great. They had updated rooms, new flooring, and new furniture. It looked very nice. As soon as I walked in, it smelled very clean. I feel like my father is going to be in a place where he's finally happy, and that he will be there long term.

The individual bedrooms at the Arbors at Westbury were very nice, but the rest of the facility seemed a little rundown. They only had like one room that they did everything in, which we really didn't like. The staff was OK. Their activity seemed OK, too. They had some golf games and trivia games going on.

The Arbors Westbury was very homey and very nice. The facility is very clean. We saw the activity room, and there was a lot of stuff going on. It was sufficient for my mom. My mom went there, and she liked it as well. The staff members were very nice and friendly. I liked the one-bedroom and the bathrooms, especially because they had updated rails and toilets for seniors. The only thing I didn't like about the shared room was that it was just a small wall. I saw the menu, and it looked very nice. They had a nice garden. The outdoors and barbecue area were nice. They have 24-hour security. The residents cannot just leave because there is always someone there.

The Arbors Assisted Living Communities at Westbury doesn't charge any advanced fee for the different care levels that you might need. Everything is included, so that's the difference between a lot of the other ones I visited. When you walk in, it's like a hotel lobby. It has a counter and it's sort of like a big room when you walk in. There's a parking lot in the back and everybody I talked to was nice and seemed friendly. I saw two different rooms. One was a little bit bigger and they provide you with a bed, a dresser, a decent amount of closet space, and a desk. You can bring in some of your own stuff if you have more room. The other one had a divider in the room with a decent amount of closet space, too, and it was well-maintained. The hallways were on the narrow side. It had wooden railings for people who are walking through there.

My mother has been a resident at The Arbors for the past six months. What we like most about the community is the warmth of the staff and residents. Amy cheerfully decorates the lobby and Great Room for each holiday season. Randi, the case manager, is highly reliable and always on top of resident care issues. Chef Albert goes out of his way to please the residents and is professionally trained at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE). Fatima greets everyone by name at the front desk with her beautiful smile. My mom especially enjoys nightly Bingo and Rummykub games with her friends and participates in chair volleyball every morning after breakfast. She loves the hair salon in the building and social events like dancing. The rooms are studios and come fully furnished. They are cleaned daily by the staff and generally spotless. I highly recommend The Arbors to my friends and family members.

We went to The Arbors Assisted Living Communities at Westbury. We didn't like it. There were a lot of positive things in terms of the structure. It was literally a rectangle on the resident floor, you just keep making a right, and eventually, you'll get to where you want to go. However, the staff was a person who was willing to speak ill of other places. This is a great thing, but she touted the fact that they're all-inclusive concerning price. So, you pay the same price regardless of your level of care. All the other places have the level of care that you tack on to your rent for your room. That's the norm, it seems. These days it's hard to find a single all-inclusive deal. But she talked about that a lot. One of the things that bothered us, and I guess it ends up bothering you about the facility is the person who's taking you around. First of all, she didn't remember she had an appointment with us. In fairness to her, she didn't normally work Mondays, but I told her we were going to be up from Maryland, and she said she made an appointment to 2:00 on Monday. I had called her back and asked if we could move it to 1:00, which she said was fine. So I called in the morning just to confirm, and the receptionist said, 'Well, she's not in today.' So it turns out that we did have an appointment at 1:00, and she had forgotten. But when he called her on her cell phone, she did come in and she was on time, it was fine. But that disorganization kind of disturbed us. We only saw assisted living because their memory care unit is in an entirely different building in an entirely different town many miles away. We didn't want my mother-in-law to have to physically move in the event she needs to go to memory care. So that was a real black mark. The place was darker. The common areas were very well lit because they had a lot of skylights. When you first walk in, your first impression is not the best. We got in the car after that visit and we both looked at each other and said, No, not this place. We made our minds on that immediately. We were not impressed with the staff. We weren't impressed with the facility. They don't have many amenities. It's in a very commercial area, and that's not to say that the others aren't, but they're more open and they have bigger front entrances. Others give you the impression that there's more room, but this place, you walk in and there's nothing in the front like you couldn't just sit out on a front porch. That doesn't exist, so it doesn't have that same welcoming feeling. The rooms are OK. They didn't have one-bedrooms there. They only had studios. They were average. It was very average. One of the places had a larger refrigerator. That's a negative because the residents should want to leave the room and dine with other people. When you start introducing the opportunity for the residents to be self-sufficient within his or her apartment, you take away one of the most important reasons for choosing assisted living, which is socialization and a desire by the staff to empower the person with independence, but within the facility engaged with others. There was an open space. It wasn't a huge area, but it was nice.

I looked at The Arbors Westbury. The experience was wonderful. It was very nice, very clean, and professional. The staff was fabulous. They were very nice. The rooms were not my style, but OK. They're maybe a little outdated. They showed us everything. We saw bingo. We saw three gardens, and the staff showed me where they have breakfast, lunch and dinner. She showed us everything that they had. What we saw was very nice.

The Arbors at Westbury was fantastic, but it was real expensive. The staff and the girl who gave us the tour were also fantastic. The menus were all pretty good, and they were doing exercises in the exercise room when we came in the morning. They also gave a brochure of their activities, and they had like 8 or 10 activities every day. They have quite nice activities. They were all very friendly. They were smiling, and they seemed to like each other very much.

When I moved my family member to The Arbors, I knew that she would be well taken care of. The people who work at there are the best...very kind, very helpful and always accessible. I can't say enough about how great they were during the Covid19 lockdown....especially AMY, RANDY and TAWANDA. They had to deal with a lot and were on the front lines of this pandemic. I was comfortable knowing that my loved one was in their care.....THANK YOU ARBORS!!!

After getting my reluctant dad to do a 30 day trial, he fell in love with it. I also was very impressed. Handicapped from a stroke, everyday chores are a little harder for my dad. The Arbors was a perfect fit for him. The staff are Loving and Caring to him. Since being close with my dad , I have visited at least 100+ times in the 2 plus years he has been there. Dad thrives in this environment. With a nursing staff on 24/7, he is taken cared of well. I believe him being there has extended his life in a good way. “ Michael, I’m glad you talked me into this. This is the best thing for me. “ His exact words.

We have two family members residing there for a about a year and a half now as of this date. We find the Arbors of Westbury to be an outstanding assisted senior care facility. All the personal employed there are like family. It is a smaller more of a family feel facility as compared to the bigger chain Facilities. All the management, directors, Wellness, housekeeping, food services, recreation and maintenance people are great, very friendly, and compassionate. They really get to know your family member and take great care of them. The facility is clean and well run. They also have lots of various activities to keep all the residents active and healthy. We feel very secure knowing they are taking care of our family members.

The Arbors Westbury has been very beneficial for my relative. The people who work there are very helpful and she's doing okay with it. She's in a semi-private apartment which looks like a studio, but they also have single rooms available. They don't have an exercise or weights room and majority of the residents are not physically able for that. But they have people who come in and do some exercise with them, if they can stand they stand and if not they sit. The staff members do a nice job and they keep the residents happy. Everybody is helpful and pleasant.

We put my mother-in-law in The Arbors Westbury. The community is very friendly, and her room is a fair size, and very clean. They have a lot of activities from morning until night, including bridge, bingo, live entertainment, and crafts. They kind of have it all, including trips outside the community. The food is very good, and she has no complaints about the food. They provide plenty of it and they're very attentive to her. They have a library, a TV/ movie room, there are constant activities in the break room, and they have gardens. She's adjusting and seems to be doing very well. The dining area is very nice, it's clean, and a large area with a restaurant atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are spotless, and the whole place is very clean. The community is very friendly to her and to the children of the seniors. I would rate the activities a four because they're constantly busy. It's affordable, and the level of care, cleanliness, and everything makes it a good package.

I went on a tour at The Arbors Assisted Living at Westbury. I walked in and it was just rows and rows of wheelchairs with people slumped over and sleeping. There was no activity going on, and it smelled. The building was very old and falling apart. There wasn't a good thing that I observed. It's run-down and not well-kept. It was clean but very smelly. When I compare the staff members to other places that I've been to, they're very poor.

I didn't like the way they handled things at The Arbors Westbury. They gave me the impression that their main concern was making the sale and not about caring for the patients or the person coming in. They were more worried about the money than my sister. I already committed myself and signed the paper based on the information they gave me at the time, but upon further inquiries, I found out they’re not as upfront as they should have been. Now they're trying to collect money from me, saying they held a room and lost income because of that. They're billing me for room and board when my sister didn't spend a single day there. These are not nice people.

We really like The Arbors Westbury. It was small, very nice, and very neatly kept. However, everything they told us was a lie, so we didn't take it. I didn't believe the people we talked to. We had a lot of problems getting our money back. They told us at the last minute that my sister wasn't accepted after they took our money. They had a library, TV, exercises, and outings. It was perfect, but we didn't like the way they treated us at the end.

My wife's aunt is at the Arbors. The place is close to us, reasonable, and nice for her, but the price keeps on going up every year. They have some trips to the grocery stores, to see shows, and to go to restaurants. They also bring people in for entertainment. It's a small place. A doctor comes in and to see them as needed, and they serve three meals a day.

Upon visiting the facility, they pushed me into getting my 88 year old mother into the facility and promised she would be very well taken care of. Her first morning waking up there she was throwing up and no one was there to help her. She ended up in the emergency room and then came home and never wanted to go back. I still have not received my refunds from them and this was back in February , it's now July 2927. They cannot be trusted they went back on their word.

The Arbors Westbury was OK. The rooms were small, but it was OK. They had facilities for the people to keep them busy if they wanted to and get involved. They said that they had other people coming in to entertain the residents. The dining area was set up like a little restaurant; they had small table setting, and the staff would come around. I guess they had a menu, and people could pick from that menu. The staff was friendly.

I chose The Arbors Westbury because it had everything that we needed price-wise and their offerings. It's very nice. They have a lot of activities, and the food is good. The staff is very attentive. Everything is great. The place is well kept. They have crafts, music, entertainment, dancing, little wine parties, socials, parties, masses, and transportation that takes them out to different stores and places for lunch and breakfast. They have outdoor barbecue during the summer. The rooms are very nice and furnished for you. They paint it whatever color you want. If you don’t want what they furnished, they get you other furniture. There are families that come and visit, so it's a very warm place because everybody knows everybody.

The care here is poor. I rarely get a call back back from the staff when I have a question about my father's care. He was recently hospitalized, and I got very little infromation from the staff there about the circumstances concerning this event. It took several calls on my part to get any information from the facility. When I finally made contact and critized them, they were very apolgetic and full of platitiudes, but I have seen nothing thusfar to make me believe that they have improved their communication efforts. Upon his discharge from the hospital back to the Arbors, the staff did very little to correlate plans with the hospital to smooth his transition back.. I had to take care of all of this myself. The food is horrible. On several occasions my father had to go out to local fast food restaurants to get something decent to eat. This should tell you something about the quality of the food service there. Having been a health care provider myself for many years, I believe that I am in a better position than most to evaluate health care services, and I rate this facility as poor.

I went to see The Arbors Westbury. I thought it was nice, but my mother thought it seemed like the residents needed more care than she does at this time. Nevertheless, it was well kept and they seemed to have plenty of activities; they were having some programs going on that day. The facility was nice. I thought the room was a little small, but it seemed clean and well kept. Maybe it was a little small, which was actually nice because then it would be easier for my mother to get around at her age. Everyone, including the director who took the time to show us around, was very friendly. We didn’t have an appointment, but she squeezed us in, so she was very nice.

I had visited The Arbors at Westbury. They have minimal security, e.g., you can come and go as you please. It is not for somebody who wanders. The food was nice. The cafeteria was nice. The best part is that it is all inclusive, so that when you have a room there, everything was inclusive. They have single rooms and shared rooms. As for activities, they did take the residents to grocery shopping and to regular shopping. They have like community activities, e.g., bingo and all that other stuff. They have people come in to entertain them once in a while. They did go the theater if you are able to go. I would recommend this place especially if your income is not as high that you could afford the other facility. It was not as luxurious looking, but it was very nice. The cost was very good and the staff was very good. It was only because it was a little older and not quite as luxurious.

I had stayed at The Arbors at Westbury. It was very good. I loved the people there. They were very dedicated. The price was relatively low. It was only $4,400 a month rather than those fancy places, which were $5,600 a month. They had glee clubs. They went out to see performances and concerts. They had bingo. They had a lot of activities. However, I didn't join any because I was too sick to do that. The food was not so good. It was pasta every other day. It wasn't bad; it just didn't suit my appetite.

My grandmother is at The Arbors at Westbury. It’s been a few weeks now since she was there and it seemed like they are taking good care of her. We had lunch and the food was good. It’s also in a location that is convenient for the family to go into. The place is beautiful -- they have three courtyards and they are very nice. I think it’s a very good place to be.

this place is AWFUL ! The administration staff is rude beyond belief. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing , to say it is poorly run is an understatement ! We pay extra for assistance with showering , yet my father is always filthy when we visit. Housekeeping is horrible . There are NO NURSES on staff, the " medical staff" can barely speak English . I could write a book on the sheer incompetence of this facility. LOOK ELSEWHERE for your loved ones!

It starts out good...then, it's "good luck, charlie." $$$$ is all that matters...when they know $$$$ are running low, they start "pruning" the dead wood. Questionable hospitalizations, refusals to accept resident back from hospital without rehab stays, then resident is denied a return to their Arbors "home" and friends. Have been through it twice, personally; and know of others who have expericence the same calloused treatment. Don't let the rugs and curtains fool you. Just ask the staff...they know.

Dad was at The Arbors before he passed away over a year ago. It was excellent. If I had the money right now, I would move in there. My sister picked this place because it was closer to her house. It was easy for her to go back and forth. We visit dad seven days a week and we were able to take him out to dinner often. The rooms are always clean. They had a separate dining room from the sitting area and they have a separate room for TV. They have a full-size pool table, and my father liked to play pool. People would come in with their pet dogs or cats. The staff was very good. You ask them a question and you will always get a direct answer. If they didn't have an answer, they would definitely get back to you. I would recommend The Arbors to anybody if they had the money to put their parents there.

My mother in law was a resident for 12 days. She gave them over $12,000.00 when she entered. Her admission evaluation was done by someone who had no background in either healthcare of eldercare. She left for the hospital after 12 days and the refused to return any of her money. They didn't even have the courtesy or interest to inquire about her condition while she was hospitalized. The same non-professional pronounced her unfit to return following her hospitalization. Don't even look at this facility let alone consider it for a loved one.

The medical staff was excellent. You will sign a contract with the facility that includes certain services. Then they will charge you a package for that service. And guess what they get away with it. I would not recommend this facility. Could be cleaner. Sink in main area very dirty. All of the linens I provided disappeared. Cleaning staff is terrible. Administrator very RUDE! I would not give any stars except for the medical staff.

i like to go visit my grandmother at least once every two weeks. When i visit her i usually take her out to eat to get a change of scenery. Not that the scenery is terrible there. She has a window and a view of this outside area with a pond and trees but the inside looks to be the same everywhere with no flair. she says the foods good but the menu doesnt change. For thanksgiving this year i picked her up from the arbors in westbury on my way to my uncles house in nyc and they wouldnt give her, her night time medication so I had to go into get it and when I did the staff were all reading magazines and were not being to helpful but thats probably because they were working on thanksgiving night.
