Our tour experience at The Arbor Inn was pretty good. I thought the place was fine. Nothing extravagant, but doable. I liked that the rooms could be private. I liked that it was like a big rectangle. It wasn't confusing, but yet they had room to walk. We saw the dining area, and it was better than adequate. The staff seemed great. They were caring and accommodating. They had a courtyard, and it looked good.

My aunt has moved into The Arbor Inn. We chose them because it was a much smaller community than a lot of these high-rise buildings that they're building now. It will house 100, but there are only like 70-some people in the community. It was also significantly less expensive than any of the others, and it was for hands-on care. With regard to activities, they do a lot of things. They do bingo, an art-type day, a movie day, and trivia. The other thing is they come and bring them down for every meal, so that they're interacting with the rest of the community. They have a hair salon and a nail salon. Everything is right in there, and you can pre-book the appointments. Then they come and get my aunt and take her down to the hair salon so that she doesn't have to remember to go herself. The food is very good. They have a very good variety. They try to change it up so that nobody gets tired of the same thing. Whatever the meal for that day, if you don't like it or if the staff notices that you're not eating it, they offer to make you something else like a sandwich, fruit or something of that nature. They have a lot of staff in all the areas, so it's a lot of hands-on attention. They have their own maintenance staff, so if something happens or breaks, they'll call them and they're there within minutes.

The Arbor Inn is a nice place. But the room wasn't as spacious as the ones in the other facility. They seemed to be caring though. It didn't bother them that I had another choice. They are willing to still talk to me. Three meals a day are included. I think they're fixing it up, so they got construction and stuff going on. I haven't tried their meals, but the staff told me that she eats there every day. It's like a family. Another thing is that it's family-owned, and the place was clean.

I did a tour of The Arbor Inn. It's assisted living; I talked to Terry, the one that runs it. She said right now everybody in the place has dementia a little bit, either little or average. My mother-in-law doesn't need round-the-clock care where she's going to run out of the building. I understand there are 30 patients to one nurse, but that's fine as long as somebody gives her the meds and she gets three meals a day. I just want her to engage more with other people. I think that's more important than her being home with us because she's engaged with other seniors and gets involved in activities. I don't know how well she's going to engage, she's a very shy person. It's the best one on my list that I like, and I just want to make sure. The price was right in her budget, they're good with that. It was very good. I got to tour the cafeteria where they were eating dinner. The pool is pretty good. I got to tour one of the rooms with the Jack and Jill bathroom where you will be sharing the bathroom. But she needs her own private room because she's a night owl. I didn't want her to trip somebody else. I got to go inside a private room with a shared bath. I was very impressed that the resident liked the place. She's been there for a year and being there in the lockdown, she liked it; so that made me feel good. The staff was very nice, very friendly, and very assertive when I asked questions. Everything I asked, I was very happy with all the answers I was getting. The rooms were clean. Some of them have their own bath, and some they share. The one we're looking into is a private room, but she would share the bathroom with the adjoining lady next door, and each had its own entrance. My mother-in-law knows they're allowed to have refrigerators and to have their own snacks or whatever. The dining area is very nice. It's very clean, I was very impressed. They have a salon, they just opened it up and they are going to be playing cards, the social part of it again. They have things like bingo and there are days they do field trips. They get them active and doing things, that's important for her. She has some memory loss, but she can function and do a lot of things on her own. Everything looked very good. The rooms looked very maintained and very clean. I was impressed because my mother-in-law's doctor was the staff doctor there, that was just sheer luck. She happens to be my mother-in-law's family practitioner. I didn't know she was the staff doctor there, so I was very happy with that. She already knows my mother-in-law; she sees her and her family.

Thank you for the very kind review Judy! Just wanted to clarify that we have one Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse, our Director of Healthcare Services, who oversees all of the Certified Nursing Aides and Resident Aide Caregivers who provide the exceptional 24/7 hour care to our Residents.

I liked Arbor Inn because of the caring and knowledgeable staff, the beautiful room looking out on a courtyard, and the amenities. They had a great game room, salon, nice dining room, variety in the menu, and also different doctors like podiatrists available. They're willing to provide all the information.

The Arbor Inn had a pleasant atmosphere and the staff seemed very friendly. It was very clean and smelled good. I was visiting a friend there last year and his room was well accommodated. He seemed happy there. The outdoor spaces were well landscaped and there was plenty of areas to relax in the shade and enjoy the outdoors.

I have been checking out assisted living places as I will need to go into one in he next few months. I have spoken with staff there and was sent a hard copy brochure. It looks like it will fit my needs and is something I can afford. The person I spoke with is keeping in touch with me and seems very helpful.

Provider Response

Sally, thank you for the positive review! The Arbor Inn prides itself on affordability and attending to our resident's needs. We will continue to follow up with you, and will be happy to help in any way that we can. Thank you again, the Teams at The Arbor Inn

We chose The Arbor Inn because it's independent and the staff seems really nice. Our experience so far has been really good. My father's room there is nice and the staff is great, they're super. They have bingo and other stuff like arts and crafts. They're very good in price of all the places.

My folks are now in The Arbor Inn. They're happy and everything is fine. The staff is also great and it's been a great experience. The food is great and the facilities are clean, they smell good and everything about them is also fine. It's a family-owned community which is very well-organized and nice. I had Thanksgiving dinner there and the food was great.

Our Uncle was a resident at the Arbor Inn for nearly 6 years. Throughout his stay the care and service provided was outstanding. The staff attended to his many and increasing needs in a caring and professional manner and also took extra care to keeps us informed of any changes in our Uncle's health or needs. The facility was clean and well maintained and meals were good. On every visit we were impressed that nursing staff and others who came in contact with our Uncle were friendly and respectful. At the end of his stay our Uncle's health declined to the point that he needed Hospice care. The Arbor Inn staff made extra effort, working with an independent hospice provider, to allow our Uncle to remain in the environment where he felt secure and comfortable. Rooms and furnishings at the Arbor inn are simple and plain but residents may add their own items to insure comfort. A good schedule of social activities is maintained including a weekly catholic service. Rates/ costs were below what we saw at other facilities and with the excellent care provided here the Arbor inn was an exceptional value.

The Arbor Inn was very good. The staff was very friendly. It was a clean establishment. The apartments were convenient, but a little small. It's a good value for the services provided. It provides a little bit more under the umbrella of independent living. They'll help you with bathing and a few other things.

They offer all different types of room. You can have a private or semi-private bathroom depending on your budget. My grandmother has been at the Arbor Inn and we have both found the care to be exceptional. Sometimes there are accidents but the staff is very quick to clean them up. I would definitely recommend the Arbor Inn to anyone needing assisted living!

The Arbor Inn looks nice. The rooms are nice and clean, and they have new carpet. They have activity rooms. Right now, food is being catered from a restaurant because they’re remodeling the kitchen. The people were helpful and seemed like they were concerned with the residents.

The Arbor Inn was good. The rooms were spacious and clean. They had a cafeteria and an area with a TV. The person who took us on a tour was really nice, very informative, and went out of her way to be helpful and answer all of my questions. We saw some of the nurses or caretakers at work who seemed to be working hard at keeping the place clean and serving the customers in different ways. We saw one person changing a bandage, so that was really good. The workers looked like they were happy, too. They were conversing with the patients and taking care of them. It was really one of the better places that we looked at.

The visit at The Arbor Inn was OK. It’s a nice facility. My dad could have had his own room there, but the rooms were smaller than what he has now, and he was looking for an apartment. To me, the place looked more like a nursing home. The staff was nice. The lady who showed me around was really nice and told me about some of the activities. It was early, and some of the residents were eating breakfast. I remember her telling me that they had some activity but I didn’t see any of the residents participating. The dining area was nice and big.

We picked The Arbor Inn. It is a comfortable and clean place. My loved one's room is always clean and feels like being home. He is happy with the food and enjoys what he has to eat. He has not complained at all. I saw that they have billiard's room with a pool table and puzzles as well. I also saw residents exercising. I saw their dining room and their outside amenities. They take the residents out for barbecues.

My Mother-In-Law was placed in the Arbor Inn approximately a year ago. She was 93 years young and living in her own apartment prior to moving into the Arbor Inn. My wife and I relocated from California to be close to her and monitor her care and living environment. I must say that with all the regulation in California we feel Blessed that GOD directed us to the Arbor Inn. This is a great facility for anyone needing care and assistance in the years we all dread when getting old and having to give up total independence. The Arbor Inn makes its residents feel like they are still independent. Quality Staff that Cares about their Residents entrusted to their Care. Before relocating to Michigan the Arbor Inn came up in conversation with friends in California and some even heard about the Arbor Inn through family and friends from the Detroit Metro area. We heard nothing but Positives about the Arbor Inn. While traveling out here people along the way would ask why move to Michigan from California and we explained the situation and the Arbor Inn and low and behold more people heard about it and all positive responses. I would highly recommend this facility for a loved one.

The people at Arbor Inn were very nice, but the place was very dark and dated. I was there at lunch time, and I was not really impressed with the lunch menu. The administrators that I met were very nice and very helpful. But it wasn’t really up to the standard that I was looking for. They need to update the place. It just needs to be a little brighter because it seemed dark and kind of cavernous to me. I also brought my mother on a subsequent visit, and she did not like it. My aunt out was coming out of a place that was beautiful and was like a cruise ship, so our standard was very high.

My sister is in The Arbor Inn. It was in our price range. Where she is, I wouldn’t consider it as an apartment, but I would consider it as a room. She has a roommate. There is one chester drawer per person. She has a nightstand and a wardrobe that she could put her clothes in. There’s one bathroom for the two of them. All the meals are included. My sister goes to eat in a dining room type situation. There is bingo after lunch. The doctors come every Tuesday, so that has been very good. She has become a little bit more self-sufficient, and I think she is progressing. She’s a little impatient, but I think they’re doing a good job with her. I think because it is not that expensive, the food there I don’t think is the greatest. I was there, and I had a hamburger; it was small. I think the attention she is getting is good. She likes the night people, and she also likes the day people.

The best decision my brother and I made for our dad was putting him in arbor inn. He is very well cared for and is treated with respect and concern from the staff at all levels....the office employees, housekeeping, kitchen, aides, Doctor and nurse Roberta. Roberta assured us my dad would thrive at the arbor inn and she was right. I'm always amazed how Roberta can multitask her responsibilities at arbor inn. She returns phone calls in a timely manner, tries to answer my questions and if she doesn't have an answer she will find an answer. I have personally seen Roberta take care of a situation with my father ASAP...informing staff of important information and communicating with them so everyone is on the same page. I highly recommend arbor inn...

This is a wonderful facility. All of the employees treat residents like family, they are very friendly and accommodating. It is very clean, food is good, nice range of activities. Nurse Roberta is fantastic, truly caring about each person and their well being. Professional, compassionate, great communication, we are very comfortable with she and her staff handling my aunt's care. I could not ask for a better place. Another family member has moved in as well after seeing how happy my aunt is here.

My family member has lived at Arbor Inn for years and we have seen staff come and go, new activities, new kitchen managers, new janitors and it has all been good but the change in the head nurse has not been an asset to a nice caring place. At first we thought she would settle in but this woman is loud and rude and yells out personal things about resident and staff across from her office to her clerk. She isnt friendly to families either but we think she has her favorites. Our family is lucky we don't have to deal with her that much. We have witnessed staff asking her questions and she tells them she is to busy. She is a super turn off. The last two nurse's seemed to be always helpful and promoted a good atmosphere within their department and even though they were short a lot it didnt have the tension and everyone seemed to work together. This is the worst we have seen.

This care facility is very well maintained. It always smells very clean, not like other facilities I had visited when looking for a place for my brother. He currently is a resident and he often tells me how much he enjoys the meals and daily activities. Also, the housekeeping staff and the facilities department have been very kind to him and have accommodated us with any requests for assistance we may have. The nursing assistants are very sweet and caring, too. They are very attentive and respectful to my brother's medical needs. Unfortunately, the only complaint that I have is that any updates on his health condition often have to be provided by the nurse manager who sometimes may not be as polite as all of the other staff that I've encountered. Besides that, I think this is a great facility!

We need an affordable place for a family member so Arbor Inn was suggested. The person doing the tour was very nice and answered all questions and the staff greeted us during the tour. We found it very clean, no smell but not super updated for us but our family member would like it. After our tour went went back through on our own to see if the people were different. Everyone greeted us again and interaction with the residents was really caring. We went passed a desk in the hallway where a woman in a white coat we thought the nurse was Very Loudly talking about some resident and it was about their behavior and personal condition and we were immediately turned off because we thought it was really rude.

(We came around lunchtime, unannounced, and they even let us try the lunch!) Also, they include a lot of care for the price. When the time comes, we are going have the nurse evaluate dad.

I saw the dining room, and it was OK. I would tell others to check it out because it's everybody individual idea. It came highly recommended by somebody, so I checked it out, but I didn't like it. I am able to move my dad to The Arbor. I like the facility. It is very clean, nice, and affordable. The staff is very good. They have activities, but it is not what he is looking for. This is what I run into everywhere, and it is pretty annoying, and I want to see it change. Everywhere you go it is Bible study and bingo. My dad is male and he doesn't play bingo. Then there are crafts, but it is all geared towards women. This is the problem I have right now. I like the facility, but like he says it is all women and only a few men, and he'd like to find a stronger male community.

My mother is a current resident. They are understaffed especially in the eve and weekends. She is a level two care and does not receive it. There are no room checks as often as should be, incontinence care is minimal at best. The patients here are mostly level 2 and 3 and they do not have the staff for this type of care. It is ok for people who need minimal help. Staff is nice if you have no problems with them. Management however is very nice.

We chose this facility because it cost a lot less than the other ones. Food there was excellent. Actually, my husband and I have eaten there, they have fresh homemade food every day, and it's very, very good. My dad really liked the food a lot. The room was a nice fairly priced room. He had a lazy boy chair and a TV so he had room for everything. The people at the office were very, very nice. I know they have a lot of activities; they had a calendar with a lot of stuff going on all the time. The only thing about that place is that if somebody like my dad ended up with quite a few falls, it wasn't a good place for somebody who needed a lot of assistance getting in and out of a wheelchair or using a walker. He's kind of impatient. He never likes to wait for help. And they didn't have any call buttons there. So if he needed help and there wasn't anyone in the room checking, he would try to do something on his own. They only have whistles there and you have to blow the whistle to get help. He said they didn't always hear it. When he had a fall, I asked them how about an alarm on his chair or something like that so the staff will hear the alarm and somebody could help him. They didn't want to do that because they said that it was a residence and a home for all other people, they don't need to be hearing these alarms. The level of care for him there was just not enough. And we didn't know that at the time that he went in the degree of care that he would end up needing. If he wasn't falling, if they would have something more in place to help him not fall, we would probably have kept him there because otherwise he really liked it and the monthly charge is quite a bit less than a lot of the other places. I wish they had more in place so my dad could have stayed there. Even though it's assisted living, they specialize more on the people that didn't need as much assistance. There's almost like an in between independent living and assisted living. The patients there didn't need as much help.

This facility was not what I expected for my Aunt at all. I was not a big fan of the Arbor Inn during our first visit, but my Aunt seemed to like it. I felt as if the rooms were very cramped and was not big enough to fit two people at all. My Aunt on the other hand preferred to have a smaller room because it made her feel like she was in her room at home. The cafeteria was quite nice; it was similar to a restaurant style, but they did not have a lot of options to choose from the menu. I did not like the fact that my Aunts medicine was passed while she was eating; that was a little tacky to me. What I did like about this facility was the friendly staff. They treated my Aunt as if she were their own relative. The staff always seemed to have a smile on their faces and they spoke to the residents as if they knew each other really well. Most of the residents seem quite happy there, regardless of the small rooms and dining room interruptions.

The staff members at this assisted living facility were very friendly besides a few that didn't seem to like working around people, but I guess there is one bad apple at every facility. The thing I didn't like about this facility is that the rooms reminded me of a nursing home. They were so small and most included a roomate with joined bathrooms. The rooms did not include a living area or kitchen; it was strictly for sleeping or watching television. The rooms did not leave any space for two people to comfortably live. Another bad thing about this Assisted Living home was the medical technicians; they were only trained to work with medication for 7 days and afterward they were given a cart after completing a short test. What my grandma and I did like about the facility was the dining area. It included a menu daily and she was able to choose what she wanted to eat. The dining area was similiar to a fancy restaraunt. If she did not like any of the food items on the menu they would create something she enjoyed eating. They also let the family members join in on dining with their relative.

My great-grandmother had lived at Arbor Inn for a couple of years in a private room and private bath. Since I have had other great-grand parents in other assisted living centers in the same city, I was really impressed with Arbor Inn. As with most people her age, my great-grandmother was hesitant to go at first- not wanting to give up her independence. She had fallen a couple times while living with my grandmother, her daughter, but no one was around 24-7 to give her the constant attention she needed, which is why the decision was mad to send her to Arbor Inn. Upon entry, the security and staff were friendly and greeted us every time we came to visit (about once a week). It didn't have the stench of bodily fluids, disinfectant and old-people must like other facilities I had been to, so I felt more comfortable when I visited. She quickly made friends and looked forward to meal times and bingo. When we came to visit, it was no problem finding a private social room to play Uno or Aggravation with her. Her medication was always given to her, as the medical staff payed close attention to its residents. Even the cafeteria food was decent as they had no problem accommodating diet concerns. She was allowed to decorate her own room to make it more like home, and although she was sad that people didn't visit her as much as she wanted, missed my great-grandfather, and was scared to be getting older, she knew Arbor Inn was the right choice for her. I agree, and would recommend this place to anyone who can afford it. I'm sure there are even nicer, more up-scale, newer places, but I really did like Arbor Inn for what they provided for my great-grandmother in the last years of her life.

Residents of The Arbor Inn enjoy some of the same amenities of a fine hotel, including the comfort and security of 24-hour-a-day professionally trained staff. Medical assistance is available from our full-time nurse and trained resident aides.

The Arbor Inn is the perfect home for seniors who want to lead a reasonably active, carefree life without the burden or responsibilities of maintaining a house or apartment. The Arbor Inn can satisfy many of life’s basic needs that many seniors would have difficulty meeting on their own. Here, you live independently, but at the same time you are an important part of our community. The Arbor Inn is truly home.
