I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife is at the Hampton & the Ashley Inn. It's a warm setting. The staff are caring. The facility is very clean and pleasant. The staff members are very helpful. If I come in and I can't find my wife, I'll ask one of the staff, and they in turn can locate her and direct me to her, so that's a nice feature. I won't say it's a huge facility, but it's large enough to spend about five minutes looking for somebody. They have several TV rooms, several rooms with tables, and facilities to do puzzles or whatever your interest is. The activities include things like exercise and games where you try to come up with the correct answers. I haven't seen anybody poorly handled or mishandled. There's maybe one patient that gets very boisterous and not cooperative at all, but they seem to manage them and are trying to be as considerate as possible to them. My wife said the meals were fine. You walk down the halls and there are pictures of all sorts of things.

I visited this facility

I visited The Hampton & The Ashley Inn. I'd give it a ten out of ten. It was beautiful and clean, and we were greeted by the receptionist right away. There was a place to sit and wait. It was bright and airy. The room was very clean. The shades of the window were open, and there wasn't any clutter. It was nice and smelled good. The staff during the tour were very professional. They answered our questions and gave suggestions. They have a sports area where they have the TV going with sports. We went mid-morning, so they were serving snacks. I didn't see anybody doing crafts or puzzles or anything like that, but they have a whole calendar posted of everything they do, like church, singing, and crafts.

I visited this facility

I went to The Hampton & The Ashley Inn. The dining looked good. The activities sounded really good. There's an activity director, so the people have a lot of different things to do. It's a big place with lots of different places for the residents to go, not just be in the same room all the time. For people who like that, that'd be good. The menu looked amazing and they had different dining rooms for various levels. If people needed extra help, there was a separate dining room set up for them. For people that didn't need help, they have one that was more like a normal dining room experience. The person who gave me the tour was really nice and very knowledgeable. The facility was very good. The problem is they have double occupancy rooms. The facility is also too big in a way that people could be lost there. If someone gets lost a lot, they might do better in a smaller place. There was a couple like yelling at each other, so that was a bit disturbing. It didn't have that sense of being cozy and the fact that they make you share a room is not great. It's kind of expensive to have to share a room with someone. The facility was really good aside from the double occupancy thing and it's not designed very well for people with memory problems, like hallways and stuff that people can get lost in.

Provider Response

Hannah, Thank you for sharing your candid experience of The Hampton and Ashley Inn Memory Care Community. We appreciate your comments, as they are very important to us and our growth. At our community, we offer both private and shared suites. The purpose behind our shared suites is that it encourages social interaction with other residents and security too. While all of our private suites are occupied now, we're happy to add residents to a waiting list for when one becomes available. Utilizing our 60 year experience of serving seniors, we build all our memory care communities with extra-wide hallways to ensure each lady and gentleman can stroll throughout the community with ease while also having plenty of team members help our residents with directions if needed. This may seem like a small thing to most; but to our residents, this is very important. We also find it crucial to allow our memory care residents to feel like they can express their feelings. This way, our team members can find the best way to care for and support them. Again, we thank you for your comments as they help us continuously raise the bar of senior living. - Angie Roush, Executive Director

I visited this facility

I liked The Hampton & The Ashley Inn. Everybody was nice. The marketing director was very nice, very informative, and gave us a tour. I liked it. The facility was very clean and organized. It didn't have a bad smell. There were nice outdoor areas, and it was very secure. They seem to have a lot of activities and things to keep the residents busy. It was relatively small, which was good. It was not tiny, but it wasn't huge either. I would love to have my dad go there. They talked about having an October fest and a little carnival that was inside so that residents could go around to these different booths and do things. They have a music room and a TV room.

The care team at the Hampton and Ashley Inn are amazing people who REALLY care—for their residents and their well-being. The care team’s willingness to help not only the residents, but families, is something that stood out to us, continually. If there was anything we needed, there was always someone who could help us. Mary and Melody at the Front Desk were always warm and welcoming. Nurse Katie and Nurse Kim took great care of my mother and would inform me of any changes. Brianna, Angie, and Caroline were so easy to work with. They made us feel comfortable immediately. They were so knowledgeable and very helpful throughout my mother’s stay. Everyone was highly approachable and very friendly, something we always appreciated. The facility was always very clean, something we noticed when we came at different hours of the day and night. We are so grateful to have found the Hampton and Ashley Inn. They have our highest recommendation.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We often went to The Hampton and The Ashley Inn three years ago to take care of my wife's grandmother who had memory loss issues. I like the fact that they're a very friendly environment, very clean, very community organized, and very good at getting the community together. And they want community visits and stuff. They had all kinds of accommodations for that. We were able to have birthday parties and they accommodated rooms for giving us that time with our families. The room was not too bad. It seemed like a pretty good room. Sometimes I think they were short-staffed, so it took a long time for them to respond. I know there was some frustration around the fact that my wife's grandmother couldn't go to the restroom and, it wasn't in a very timely manner, they would pull the cord and it just took forever for them to get any help.

Provider Response

Mark, Thank you for taking the time to share your candid review of The Hampton and Ashley Inn Memory Care Community with us and others. While we are happy to know that our community's shared spaces worked well to accommodate you and your family during your visits, we apologize that it was sometimes challenging to reach our staff. Our residents are always our top priority, and we have worked hard on improving our practices to be more diligent. We appreciate your feedback and will utilize it to continue raising the bar of senior living. Thank you again! - Angie Roush, Executive Director

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is at The Hampton and The Ashley Inn. I think it's ideally sized. It has about 90 people in it in four different pods based on their abilities and capabilities. The larger pod that she lives in and spends her time and stuff in is ideally sized. They have activities going on, and they have 24-hour care. My mom tends to sleep for short periods and then walk around and be mobile and see what's going on and stuff. She can do that day and night and not be immediately rushed back to her room. It just turned out to be a good fit for her. The staff is excellent. They provide great care and they're very attentive. They have RNs on staff 24 hours a day, so they can deal with just about anything that could occur down there. I put my mom in during the COVID period when I wasn't even allowed to go into the facility. I've only been in it twice since then as they have begun to slowly relax there. They were really good about COVID. I would much rather not see my mom for some time than come in and have some fool walk in with COVID and infect them. They were really careful about that and they were tough. I appreciated the fact that they were taking care of my mom. The rooms were smaller, but they were functional. They don't have a lot of furniture and that kind of stuff in them. They have beds and dressers and most of the time, it seems like the occupants spend their time outside of the room anyway. There are so many social activity areas at the facility that most people seem to move from their rooms out into the various public areas like the little library they've set up. Whenever I go to visit mom, they have to kind of look for her where she's at in all the different places because she's a wanderer. If she hears loud voices, she gravitates towards them to see what's going on. She didn't want to participate. She just wants to see what's going on. The dining area is very nice and they have several depending on the function of the pod. They're very complete. They've got them set up currently for COVID separation and that kind of stuff, but if things ever go back to normal, they'll have probably greater occupancy at one time. It's very nice, has good furniture, solid, the kind of thing that people can sit in and be comfortable and beautiful. I had a meeting in one of the dining rooms with the staff and they just were well appointed with everything you'd possibly need. Upkeep and maintenance are excellent. Everything is clean and looks new. It's well done. I like the way it's set up, like in the main area, once you get past the entry guards, they have it set up so that somebody can watch the entire area all the time. They're constantly talking to people and they're constantly watching what's going on. I like that. That makes me feel good. There's no place they're going to disappear and perhaps fall or hurt themselves or whatever without being observed. They have a lot of activities. My mom doesn't participate in most of those, but they have bus trips and they go all over the place and do different things, malls, and that kind of stuff. If you're more mobile, there's a wealth of activity that would keep you busy. I get a newsletter every week or every month that shows me the kind of stuff they're doing and what they have planned this month. It's pretty extensive. They offer a wide range of things and they offer it daily. That means people can kind of pick and choose and if you don't want to do movie night tonight, it's going to happen often during the week, so that you don't miss anything just because you're busy doing something else and I like it. They have a hair salon and my mom is a frequent visitor to that. I have an arrangement set up so I'll pay monthly for that kind of service. They've been good about it. I'm looking at the February newsletter, and literally, stuff starts at 9:30 and runs until 8:00 at night. You couldn't possibly do all these in a single day. There are different kinds of activities for them to do and get involved in, some of which they participate in, and some of which they can sit and watch. The kind of activity that I needed for my mom was that kind of stimulation. I've had no trouble at all with the staff. They've called me many times for bumps, falls, that kind of stuff. They've been wonderful. The facility is excellent. They even have a very large outdoor area that the residents can access in good weather. It allows them to go outside and look at the flowers and yet still stay within a safe, contained space. I like that about it.

We chose The Hampton & The Ashley Inn for my mom. It feels like a very family atmosphere, and that's one of the things we like about it. They've been doing some nice things to make her feel at home since it takes a while to get used to a new place. They're doing a good job to try and integrate her into normal living again. Even if she doesn't want to go to the dining room, they're just trying everything to make her feel at home. The nurses do a good job, they're in touch with her doctors when they need to be. I've been there multiple times when they're cooking, and I thought the food was good. Everything seems clean and it's easily accessible for the family. They have the COVID restrictions, but there are places for people to play games and they have a fireside room. Whenever there's something that needs to be done maintenance-wise, a person is always there. And the people I've talked to seem to be very happy to live there.

I visited this facility

I was able to see the memory care of The Hampton & The Ashley Inn. It needs to be updated more, the other places were more modern, and more updated than this facility. The care there might be fantastic, but it's not updated enough to compete with the rest. I even know someone that took their husband there. They have a good staff, they're extremely friendly, and they have very nice people. It was more affordable than the other place, and if you wanted more bang for your dollar, it would be good there.

Provider Response

M.H., Thank you so much for giving us an honest and heartfelt review. My goal at The Hampton and Ashley Inn is to provide all of our residents with the best care possible, and it’s important to me to hear how our community could have met your expectations. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad is now in the assisted living level of The Hampton & The Ashley Inn. So far we have had a good experience. The move in was rough because they had a lot of staff members on vacation. The general care and the people who work with my dad daily are really good. His apartment is very nice. They have a salon, a visiting podiatrist, and most of the services they need are basically brought in. They also have a physician assistant that's onsite, so that's helpful, because you don't have to go to the doctor. The food is good and the dining is also good. The transition was hard for him, but it seems like he's adjusting. Because the move in was so rough, I would rate them a four on that. There was nobody to move us in, and nobody to give my dad his meds. It was like they really fell down the first day, and the first day was really the extremely hard day. Otherwise, as far as ongoing care, the room and facilities, and the support has been really great. My dad has started eating there again, so that's good. The community always looks great and is in good shape. The people who are helpers are really pleasant as well. The price is really expensive, but I think it's comparable to other places, so I would say it's good value for the money compared to other places I have been to. When I visited, I realized that it's really the environment that I was looking for, and in the right location. There really wasn't any reason for me to look elsewhere.
