I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was a resident in their long term care/nursing home. He started at the Rehab facility as he was recovering from a heart attack. When he first arrived he needed minimal care and was able to take care of his daily needs and walk to dining area for his meals with a walker. The initial staff when he first arrived were very good and did their jobs. In time I realized the staff members(nurses)kept changing and the new ones weren’t very good at all. They really didn’t care about the residents. Some of the aids were very good and helpful and did care. As for the food - it wasn’t very good. We would bring food for my dad at times as he didn’t like most of the food. The building was kept clean as well as the resident rooms. The lesson I learned from my experience here was it would have been a lot better to have kept my dad at home. He would have been happier and gotten better quality care and food. My advice is if you have a choice is to keep your loved ones at home.

Provider Response

Good Morning, We are puzzled by your review because most times when a new resident is admitted to our Skilled Rehab Unit is the time when they require the most care, especially coming in from the hospital, after having a heart attack. You go on to further say that initially the staff was great but then there were issues with care and food. Most of our staff, in our skilled unit, have been there for sometime, so we are not sure about the "new ones" that you reference. If your dad had a heart attack he probably came to us, from the hospital, on a cardiac diet which is a big change for someone that was able to eat a regular diet before. We apologize that you feel that your dads stay was not how you thought it should be and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you more. If you can please us that would be great. Thank you,!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My loved one was in Assisted Living at Watermark 3030 Park for approx. 10 months. During that time he spent almost 1/2 of it in the rehab area( The Springs) or in the Hospital from pneumonia or falling out of bed. First of all, I would like to say that you are your loved one's best and most important Advocate. No one cares more or knows your Parent like you do. We saved our loved one's life by moving him from this facility. He' s doing well at home and has aids , which has been a less expensive alternative. He is healthy, on minimal amounts of oxygen and medicine, and is walking again with a walker. He is not on Palliative care. We were told by Drs. and Nurses at Watermark that these things would probably never be possible. Now I know why they ask for Funeral Home information when they check you in there.

Provider Response

Please allow me to assure you that the health and well-being of our residents is always our top priority and we are committed to each and every individual in our care. We respected his wish to move home and to hear that he is doing so well is truly fantastic news. Please contact me any time to discuss your concerns. Thank you for your time and your input. Sincerely, Kristin Butler, Executive Director

Our mom lived here in assisted living for one month before we had to move her out. Facility is beautiful, but don't be fooled. Care was substandard: missed med administrations, forgetting to put her to bad, or bring her to meals on time. Things did not get better despite our vigilant oversight and trying to get then to get it right. We reluctantly had to move her into another facility which ended up being fabulous. Best decision we made was to get her out of 3030 Park.

Provider Response

It’s quite unusual for us to have such a short stay – I researched our records and it appears your residency was in 2014. We are committed to resident and family member satisfaction and are very sorry you were disappointed in your Mother’s experience with us. We are unable to comment on the details specifically due to our desire to honor her privacy rights. We hope she is doing very well and if you would like to discuss further please don’t hesitate to contact me. Sincerely Kristin Butler, Executive Director

I visited this facility

The Watermark was a very big community. We only talked to the sales person who was very nice and talked about finances. She explained the pay plan first, which was probably better because just looking at numbers, there was no way that my parents-in-law could afford it, so the meeting was short. She was very polite and explained the services. She showed us pictures of the cottages, and the social program seemed very rich. There were certainly plenty of things to do. She mentioned different classes, like language programs where you can learn a different language, concerts, speakers, and some person from a TV show that was supposed to visit and host some series of lectures. The grounds were nice and well maintained. The lobby and dining room were nice and had a country club feel with beautiful furniture and an atmosphere of luxury. There was nothing that I saw that I didn't like.

I’ve been to The Watermark a couple of times; I loved it. It has all kinds of things going on there: swimming, exercise, and computers. It’s very nice-looking, but you have to buy into it, and I can’t do that. The rooms were very nice one-bedrooms with a kitchen, living room, dining room, and bath. They had meals, and the food was very good; I’ve been there for lunch, and I really liked it. The staff treated me very well. The place is wonderful; I’d move in there in a minute, but I can’t afford it.

My father-in-law moved into The Watermark at 3030 Park. They made the move very easy. They're very welcoming and the staff was helpful in the transition. The 1-bedroom apartment is spacious, very clean, sunny, cheerful, and well laid out, with a big bathroom. The dining room is cozy and small and not overwhelming, and they got a swimming pool. They have lectures, courses that they teach, and they have the Watermark University if you wanted to learn a language, and they also have art classes.

Of all the places I've visited, The Watermark 3030 Park was probably the best of them. I took a tour, and they have beautiful apartments. It costs half the price of closer places. It has a program called University Program. They had a much more sophisticated program, which I require. It's a good place to go.

The Watermark was more suited to a person who had not gotten to a point of needing daily attention. It was more suitable for a person who was going in fully mobile and going to age in place. They had more levels of independent care and then moving to dependent care, but that point was moot for us because Dad already needed daily care. We had an excellent experience. They were top notch. They provided the widest variety of aging in place services. So, you could have fully independent care all the way to several times a day care. The person who accommodated us was very professional. She was able to answer any questions, offered valuable information, and was very open and honest. The rooms were spacious and clean. I only looked at the efficiency apartment and not the 2 bedroom apartment. It was extremely nice, and considering what they were, they were spacious. It was easily accessible with many safety features to prevent falling. They brought in speakers to talk on various subjects. They had nature walks in the adjoining sanctuary that they had. They kept the residents mentally occupied, and that's important.

My mother and father are living together at The Watermark. I will say the staff is adequate. I will give the food a "B". They have a room with a living room-kitchenette combination. They have a good size bedroom, a bath, and several closets. For the two of them, it is more than adequate. They have activities, but my mother and father aren't doing them.

The Watemark is beautiful, and the food is great. But the assisted living did not work out well for our Mom, and we ended up moving her to another nearby location, which has been fabulous.
