I visited this facility
Fairlawn Heights is a smaller, older nursing home that has been revamped. The ladies were really very nice. You will need to be on a waiting list in order to get a private room. It's not what we needed at this point.
I visited this facility
This is the first place am considering and would really like to settle down. I toured this place together with my friend and daughter. It is in a very nice location and the building is beautiful as well. However, we caught them in a chaotic situation. They were moving residents so we didn’t get the full explanation of the different types of accommodations they offer.
The reasons why I want to move to this place is I want to relieve my kids of their duties to me as their mother. Another reason is I am legally blind so I will need more help. The people in this place are very friendly. They volunteer for information without being asked. They were all very positive.
I would like to visit this place again. The personnel said we could arrange to eat lunch here. I would like to do some more investigating because it needs a little more housekeeping. The windows weren’t very clean.
I visited this facility
I was very impressed with the customer service skill exhibited by the receptionist at this facility. When I arrived for my appointment I was also struck by how friendly the staff was: everyone was smiling. The feeling of warm friendliness continued throughout my visit, and I think the facility offers a very genuine, caring atmosphere.
The physical building is brick in good repair, but the decor is very dated and somewhat institutional. While the facility does have posters on the walls and some faux flowers here and there, I also felt it had bad hospital-type wallpaper and hospital railings along all walls. It felt reasonably clean, but not sparkling and immaculate.
My guide told me that she had actually been transferred to this facility from another just last Friday. My impression, though she never said it directly, was that she was there to turn it around and get it on the right path again. She tried to highlight the good things the facility does but when I asked questions, for example about resident activity calendars, she admitted the facility had not yet implemented that but was planning to do so. She mentioned there would be new furniture arriving this week, and that they were hiring an activities director. I would recommend looking into this facility, but perhaps giving it a little time to mature under its new management.
