Emeritus at Tewksbury

The facilities were of a decent quality, there was an unpleasant scent about the building but that can be said about most nursing homes/assisted living facilities. Most of the nurses were apathetic at best, but there were one or two that treated my grandmother that I became familiar with that treated her very well, so we used to bring them small gifts to show our appreciation. When she was moved out, we found that a lot of her furniture had been severely mistreated and her bed frame and dresser were damaged, the bed frame pretty badly which did not reflect well on Emeritus. The manager of course denied any responsibility. Her medicine box was also locked and we could not find anyone to open it while we were moving out so we were forced to leave it there. We also may or may not have left with the same wheelchair we bought for my grandmother as Emeritus seemed to not keep good track of the wheelchairs even though they were personal possessions.

I visited this facility in order to visit my mother who was staying there after having two strokes within a two month period. When we first pulled in, we were pleased to see that the outside facilities and the general area was rather nice. The premise was very beautiful. The staff that was on hand was very friendly and they seemed to enjoy what they were doing, which unfortunately is something you do not see in other assisted living centers. Most of the time the people who work there are only there because they need the money, and they act that way. The staff here were not like that at all. They were very welcoming.When we spoke with my aunt, she told us that she was very happy to be there. She said that they were very good at helping her manage everything and get settled in. She told us that they treat everyone there as if they were all part of one family. She said she felt very comfortable and almost completely at home and she had only been there for a few weeks at that point. We are very glad we could have her stay somewhere as nice as this center.

The staff at emeritus at tewksbury greeted my mother with warmth and excitement and a sense of welcoming her home. From my first phone conversation I felt the support and understanding of what I was going through having finally decided to place my mom in the care of someone else. They assigned her a roommate who was overjoyed to meet her and with whom she connected immediately. While her room is much smaller than her suite at home she felt comfortable. When I left at the end of her first day she hugged me and said "thank you for doing this wonderful thing". They helped explain finances, and everything else we had questions about. It's still early in the process but I am glad I chose Emeritus for my mom's assisted living care.
