I visited this facility

It was kind of set off in the country, but it was still in Stamford. They had sitting areas that were amongst the trees and there were lawns. I had always driven by it because it's only a mile from my house, but it's set back. It's kind of like you're living in the country. The staff was good. Unfortunately, I only saw three of them, plus I went on a Saturday. I guess Saturdays are kind of slow there. If I had the choice, I would have gone with Sunrise because it seems at least in the summertime, you could get out and get the sun on your face or walk around. The rooms were nice. The great thing about it was there was a thermostat in each room. You could adjust either the heat or the air-conditioning to suit your own room as opposed to just having the whole floor heated to one temperature. That would be pretty neat. For someone cold all the time, you can have it up to 75. If they like air-conditioning, they could have it set at 68. You had your own bath, and they had kitchenettes there. They had a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. You had plenty of closet space. You got free cable TV in your room. All you have to do is get the converter. It was very well appointed. Originally, I was supposed to be there before lunch, but with the COVID restrictions, they revised my visit to 1:00, so lunch was all done by then. The dining area was clean. There are plenty of tables for people to sit down. They had a library, a sitting room for TV, an area to play games, and another place that had couches where residents could have people come to visit them and instead of being squeezed into your room, you could sit down and have a conversation. They had a backyard that was all fenced in and it had trees and stuff. It wasn't like you were limited. For people that had houses, that would be a place to stay because you got that living in a house feel. The facility looked pretty good to me. I went there in the winter, so there were no leaves on the ground or anything. Everything was pretty clean. They had a nice parking lot when you pulled in. It looked pretty nice. If they would have offered the Medicaid rooms once you're done spending your life savings, that would have been a place to go.

I visited this facility

I went here and visited the memory care area. It was beautiful, very clean, and upscale. The staff was very nice and we had no complaints about it. They showed us around, showed us the menus and the food looked very good. The amenities were very nice too. The rooms were spacious and nice, as well as their gathering areas. We were there when they had their sing-along group and an outdoor event in the courtyard. We didn't see exactly what it was, but there was some kind of a lecture going on, and a large group of people out there were very attentive, which was very interesting. The person who toured us was very nice, very attentive, and very enthusiastic.

I visited this facility

It was nice, but most of the people were older than my husband, and it wasn't a good fit for him. They had a salon and a library. They had lots of activities to do during the week.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My aunt has been here for years, and I am looking for some options. She is happy where she is, but I just want to make sure, because she is 96, and I am doing her fiduciary plan. I like the people there and the cleanliness. The folks are willing to work with you, and my aunt has become pretty much accustomed to it after 7 years there. She is comfortable. The staff is fairly good. The dining room is very clean, and they mix up the menu. So, I will say it is fairly good also. They have movie nights, arts & crafts, entertainment, and music that my aunt enjoys listening to. She doesn't participate in many of the games because she is 96. The security is fairly good also. They work with me to accommodate my aunt a little better. My aunt has been there for 7 years, and I didn't want to move her and change her environment. One of the improvements could be a little more attention to the individual resident.

I visited this facility

I visited here. It was very nice and easier for me to go there. It looked perfect and they were so pleasant. Their marketing businessman, Michael, presented it right and even opened my knowledge that my husband being a soldier was entitled to some pension. I didn't know about that. So, he was the one who told me to research that and even gave me the phone number whom to call. I thought that was a very nice thing to do. I also talked to the nurse who interviewed my husband to make sure that they could take him. They were very pleasant and they even gave me a pie. I did not eat there, but I saw the menu and it seemed to be a well-balanced. They had a pretty good chef and the people seemed to be very happy. They had private rooms, but there was no availability at the moment. They also had semi-private bedrooms with shared bathroom. They were nice and clean. When I was visiting, I saw their activities. There were two caregivers who were walking around and talking to them. I saw two ladies playing cards and there were 3-person groups.

It was a pleasant facility. It was the same with the other facility we visited. Their rooms were also pretty much the same too. The staff was pleasant. They explained everything to us.
