Woodside provides each resident with the care, treatments, amenities, services, opportunities, programs, and options that I would like to see within an assisted living community. They make it so each resident can live the lifestyle of their choice and follow the daily routines that they desire. One thing that has always impressed me about this community is that the staff are so sensitive to the individuality of each resident - they look at and care for each resident as the individual they are and they only thing they expect each resident to do is express and be proud of themselves and their individuality. A staff member told me once that individuality in a senior living residence is so vital because without it the residents would begin to just fall in to place and blend in and she said she would never want to see that. She said that each of her residents are so incredibly precious and unique and it's their individuality that makes them shine. She said that she has seen many communities that do not encourage individual expression and that those communities seem so "blah" to her, so boring, she said that they become a community that lacks personality and living in a community like that can make for a very dull existence. She says that is why she is so happy to have found work at Woodside, she said that in this community there is all the personality you could ever hope to find. She is not the only one to say that about the community. Many families, residents, and others have commented on how energetic and colorful the community is. The residents say that they do not have to worry about following the same routine day after day of they do not want to, they say that you can change up your daily routine as much or as little as you like - that there are always new programs, opportunities, and activities for the residents to experience. They say that there are new opportunities for them popping up all of the time which really keeps life exciting and full of surprise.
I have been visiting Woodside for a few years now and I have come to know and appreciate pretty much every person and resident that makes Woodside a successful assisted living community. The residents are always provided with high quality care and their care needs are always met thoroughly and as scheduled. I have also seen times when unforeseen things have happened and residents care needs were delayed because of it. I am always very impressed by how the staff notify and sincerely apologize to each resident for the inconvenience. I have seen many communities where stuff like this have happened and they don't even tell the residents about the delay, let alone apologize for it - so you can imagine how happy I am to see the staff at Woodside handle these happenings in such a friendly manner.
The community has a very warm, cozy, and homey feel to it. There is something about the community, be it the staff, the residents, or just how it looks, that makes the community look and feel so inviting and comfortable. Families are always encouraged to be as involved in the community as possible so I always see them in the common rooms and such spending time with their loved ones and other residents. Family members tell me all the time that they could be there for hours and hours and never be made to feel like they have overstayed their welcome. They say that the staff makes them feel like they belong there - like because it is the residents home that it's the residents family's home as well. It is a big deal for family members to feel comfortable within their loved ones community, it's important for them to feel like a special part of the community and I have seen the staff members go out if their way to make all families feel this way.
Woodside is absolutely worth the visit.
I am a friend or relative of resident
Grandma never liked the dining room food. She would eat breakfast in the dining room, then snack on pudding and Boost the rest of the day. The people and staff were friendly, and it was a beautiful place. We had several family gatherings in the Coca Cola room. The problem came one time when grandma fell and lay in her own pee for 24 hours. She fell and couldn't reach the pull cord. My husband happened to go over in the evening to see her, and pounded on the door and got someone to let him into her room. She wasn't hurt, but obviously shaken up. She made a quick trip to the hospital for a check up. We moved her out of there as soon as we could. They said they always check for them at breakfast, but obviously they hadn't that day. Too bad. Too bad.
