I have moved into Touchmark on South Hill. I've been here about six weeks now. It's a beautiful place. The grounds are lovely. There are places to walk and to walk your dog, but I think the most important thing is the staff. They're very accommodating. They have church services. It's very good, and I would recommend it to anyone.

My mother recently had a HORRIFIC experience at Touchmark. She was placed in their rehab dept. In 16 days her condition fell dramatically. We saw her and sent her to the emergency hospital immediately upon her release from Touchmark. Her kidneys were failing, she was dehydrated, low blood pressure, lost weight, vomiting. IT WAS horrific what they did to her. Once at the hospital her condition improved dramatically. After three days at the hospital she is doing GREAT at another rehab center. Touchmark also dropped my mothers hearing aids in water while there. They also sent her to a doctors appt. in a wheelchair without foot pedals. Tramadol was given to my mother against her wishes as well. The overall experience was the worst and I would not send my loved ones to this terrible place! All the while their nurses said how great she was while staying there. Do not trust this place. They hide behind the wall of the coronavirus.

Extremely expensive for apartments with cheap oak cabinets, builder beige carpeting, less than average food, and constant turnover in staff. Assisted Living was very uncomfortable for our parent. Skilled nursing was a horror story when she fell and was not attended to for hours, although she told them she as in agony after the fall. We moved her to a different facility where she is happy, cared for and the food is 5 star.

Touchmark On South Hill was nicer, and the kitchen had more windows and more daylight so those are certainly nice things. It's nicer, but the amenities came at a cost. They had a more modern construction, nicer, brighter, and lighter cafeteria, and the furniture was nicer. The community rooms were also nice and had nice furniture and style. It was a nicer place to live. It was in a nice neighborhood with trees, and it was decent and definitely quiet.

Touchmark was on the top of my list. It was well known because they had everything, like therapy and anything else you would need. They were very expensive, too, but worth it. Their food was great. It was a nice, bright place. I would not mind living there. There were happy people, which was important to me because I did not want to be in a place where everybody was just staring. It would be depressing. They had all kinds of activities. They had fantastic places that allowed animals. It was a big complex with cottages, rehabilitation center and Alzheimer's center. We saw a cottage and an apartment, and they were all nice and clean. The place is clean and had pretty flowers and bushes.

I am very disappointed in this facility. My in-laws have a cottage here that they spent A LOT OF MONEY on purchasing and still continue to make monthly "maintenance" payments to them. I also have a friend whose father lives in a 3rd floor apt. This week Spokane was hit with violent winds knocking out power lines and trees. I would believe that Touchmark's FIRST goal was their resident's safety and warmth. Not so. My in laws cottage has had no power for 4 days. No one from Touchmark has come with a generator or any other alternate heat source. My friend's father who lives in the "big house" has no power in their apts either. They must leave their doors open to get heat from the halls where the generator heat. There are no lights however they have been given flashlights which are hard to use while pushing a walker. There is no elevator and he is not safe on the stairs so he is stranded in his cold room. When asked to have someone check on my in-laws during the evening, I was told that maintenance is only there during the day. Touchmark was not prepared with generators or heaters to keep these elderly people safe, yet they will collect their monthly "maintenance fee" You bets you booty. If you are looking at a place to live out your golden years, don't bother. All show no support. Make sure whereever you end that they have a disaster plan in place to take good care of their population.
