I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Oaks at Snellville. It's close to the house. It was what we needed, because we needed memory care that was close by. We get good communication from the place. They always seem to call us with anything, whether positive or negative. I've sat down with my mother to eat, so I've seen the food that they give her, and it seems good quality and nutritious. The activity director is always on top of things. She put a lot of her personal self into trying to find activities for the residents, so I am definitely happy with that. Right now, I'm happy with what we're paying for, and what we're getting from it.

Regrettable choice. Response times are nothing close to the 15 minutes promised during the tour. Typically 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Rooms are not fully wheelchair functional. Medication management is not adequately safeguarded! Under staffed and no supervisor or manager at night and weekends. The food is not acceptable. Portions are tiny. Nothing is fresh. A hot dog bun is considered a hoagie. Breakfast meats are only offered 1 or 2 times a week. Laundry is done weekly but often they fail to change the sheets. Activities are often canceled. Exercise classes are held watching a video which just doesn’t work. Transport to appointments is very limited.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our community. You and your loved ones community experience is extremely important to us. If you would like to discuss any concerns you may have, call us, and a member of our home office team will be glad to speak with you.

Mom was at Oaks at Snellville for respite care. They were very kind and very nice to my mom. They took great care of her. The staff was all amazing. They had programs and stuff that they would do. So, she didn't just sit in a room all day long. They took them out and did stuff. She seemed very happy with it and very entertained. The food looked good and smelled good, too. The room she had was fully furnished. It was like a miniature apartment. They had multiple levels of activities. They had the cafeteria, the activity room, and the meeting room. It was a nice facility. The Oaks at Snellville was the same price as everybody else and for two weeks of respite care, it was almost $3,000, but that's the going price across the board. It is what it is. That's just how much they all cost and in my opinion, it's not them personally (the manager and the staff) that set the price. It's their corporation that owns them and all the other facilities in the country.

I visited this facility

I toured Oaks at Snellville. It was very clean and well-maintained. The representative was very attentive and very informative. He said I could call him any time for any additional information if I needed. The walking path in the back was nice. We toured different types of activities. It was my first time seeing a studio. We sat down and talked about how we could arrange the furniture and how that would be enough because I was thinking that we needed a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom. They had a salon, a reading place, and a library-game area. They had arts and crafts. It was a warm and friendly environment.

I visited this facility

Oaks at Snellville was in the middle of a big remodel. They were bringing in new furniture and were upgrading a lot of stuff. The person that I had an appointment with wasn't there, so someone else took me around to look at the rooms. One of the things was that it was more expensive and the rooms didn't come furnished. It was also a much bigger place and it felt more like a hotel. So, it just wasn't for us. The people were very nice though and they took their time with me. The facility was secure. You couldn't get in unless you rang a bell, or put in a code at the door. There was an atrium in the back where there was a lot of foliage and flowers, which was nice. It was clean.

I visited this facility

Oaks at Snellville was friendly, but just an old facility. It didn't feel comfortable. It was clean but very dated and old. It just needs to be updated. They had movies and gathering areas, but I didn't see what other activities were available. They also said they had music but I never saw it.

My mom is in the Oaks at Snellville. We just transferred her to a shared room instead of a private room. That's a good place for you to have your parents. The food is good. They put Mom on a diabetic diet, so they do that, and her room is very nice and clean, and stays clean. The place is very nice and clean. The workers are very attentive.

The Oaks at Snellville are good, and they've been great to my mom. She's been there for almost two years now. She's in assisted living. They just need an update, which they're working on right now. They're redoing a lot of things. They just put a new roof down, and they're going to redo some stuff inside and outside. It just needs a lot of updating because it's kind of outdated. It's very clean though, and I have nothing else really to complain about. The only reason I'm looking is I just wanted my mom to be closer to me. I don't live out there anymore. The staff there is very nice. I like them a lot. For activities, they play games, and they have a little ping pong table. Before COVID, they were bringing people in to sing, dance, and stuff like that. Since COVID, they're not doing that anymore. Right now, they play a lot of games. They have a TV area.

It is a smaller facility. I like that they get to know each other more intimately. The dining area looks very nice. I have not had a meal there, but I've been there several times when they were eating, and it's a more intimate setting. I think they have a library. The rooms seem a little small, and they have to furnish them with their own furniture. There is an outside area with a garden.

I visited this facility

We did visit, but they didn’t have any space available at that time. It’s really a nice facility, but we didn’t see any of the rooms. During the visit, it looked like they had a worship service.
