I visited this facility

I found Bloom at Bossier nice. It looked like a comfortable place to live, and the rent itself wasn't that bad. It's about a little over $2,000 a month, but the problem lies in the assisted living portion of it. Depending on what one needs (they call it the level of care), the price goes up. If you had one level, it would be an additional $475 a month. When you start adding these levels of care to the basic price of the rent, it can run out the money. It depends on how entirely sick a person is, how old, and what they can do for themselves and what they can't. Most of the staff were very nice, and they have to be if they want people to live there. They have to be decent and discuss the situation with you, take you on a tour, and show you what's available and so forth. That's a job for them so they're trying to make things look as nice as possible, but that's understandable. They've got studio apartments, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, depending on the size. I was looking for a one-bedroom. The studio for me was too small. They also got a library, which is nice, because I do a lot of reading. It seemed to be a good place, and I would recommend it. Even though it's an older building, it's very nice and well maintained.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into the assisted living of Bloom at Bossier. It's a great facility, I like the residents and the staff, and the food is good. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They have a chapel, a gameroom, and a walking path around the facility. It's very clean, it feels homey, and it has a very southern home feeling.

We have decided on Bloom at Bossier. We have a reservation for a studio apartment for my mom. The staff was very nice, professional, and the food was very good home-cooking. We visited some of the residents there who were very nice and seemed very interested in meeting my mother. The administrative staff was very informative. We had a great tour and the place was very homey and nice. The room that my mom is going to have has a wheelchair-accessible shower.

We toured Bloom at Bossier, but I wasn't happy with it, and they didn't treat me well. It felt like we were below their class, and we didn't feel welcome at all. They didn't give us any reason to want to live there. I didn't like the staff. They have a lot of things to do, and the dining area looked nice. However, I wouldn't like to live there even if they give me a cut-rate price.

Provider Response

Bloom at Bossier is a family owned and operated independent living and assisted living community offering a home like environment, five star customer service, five star dining, a specialized life enrichment program and a program catering to helping seniors bloom. We have extremely high resident and family satisfaction and our community operates consistently at 100% with a waiting list. We're sorry to hear about your experience, which is atypical, and appreciate the feedback, so we can continue improving. That said, this couple was toured by our Executive Director and Sales Director. We spent a lot of time with them; invited them to join us for lunch; gave them box lunches to go and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them. We did try to follow up with this couple and have been unable to reach them. We welcome them to contact us should they change their mind about our community.

Bloom at Bossier is a little large with three levels, so it's a little big for us. The staff was nice and accommodating to our schedule. The rooms were nice and the food looked and smelled good. The pricing is comparable to other senior places.

Although we did not move mom into the Bloom, due to health issues, it was a very nice community. Loved the fact that they had bible study several times a week, and live entertainment. It was very clean, and much more home like then the other communities we looked at.

I really liked everything that I saw at Bloom at Bossier, including the rooms. The community was brand new and they had just painted everything when I visited. I was also impressed with the beautiful grounds. They have a drawing room, arts and crafts, they had entertainment on a regular basis, and church programs. I liked everybody that I met. The food was nutritious, well-prepared, and clean.

Bloom at Bossier's rooms seemed to be very nice, and they had a good selection for different people. The dining area was quite adequate. The place was clean, very friendly, and has a family atmosphere. The amenities were a little sparse.

I’m impressed with the cleanliness of Bloom at Bossier. It is an assisted living, so they prepare all their meals. They have an activity calendar. They have help with their food and they have outings.

I liked Bloom, it was a lot nicer than I would have thought, and it’s a nice location. If you get on the property, there are a lot of outdoor areas in the back; it’s very open, and they have an area for gardening. That was probably number 2 on my list.

My father needed a place fast. The young lady that showed us around was very nice, and knew what she was doing. They are clean, friendly, and have wonderful food. We moved in right away, and have no complaints.

Bloom is very pleasant, very nice, and very clean. They have apartments with a full kitchen, studio apartments, and regular apartments. It’s very nice and very spacious. They have elevators that work on generators. They have three or four stations on each floor to do laundry, so the people can do their own laundry or they can do it for them. Once a week, there’s housekeeping. They provide the meals, and residents have options if they don’t like the meals. Plus, they can have food brought to their rooms.

Bloom at Bossier has been terrific for my parents; so far so good. We chose this place because we felt comfortable and the amount of people working on each shift was very reassuring. We also liked that if they don’t want to go down for a meal, it is automatically brought to them. The place itself is very, very nice. I would highly recommend it.

I went in for a walk through at Bloom at Bossier and the place was excellent place. The rooms were small, but they were adequate and plenty of room for one person. I would recommend this community. If I get to a point that I need one, they are high on my chart.

Bloom at Bossier was nice, everybody was really friendly, and it was clean and tidy, but we just decided against it. They were very nice, very cordial, and very helpful. The rooms were not very spacious. It was not what I was looking for, and it was not what my in-laws were looking for. I saw the dining room, and it was presentable, but I did not eat anything. Everything, on the surface, seemed great.

My overall experience at the Bloom was very nice. The only problem at the time was that it was really too expensive for what we could afford because we were dealing with my sister's past expenses. The rooms and apartments were very nice, and I am hoping that we can move her from where she is now over there. They had all kinds of activities. They shuttled the residents to shopping, restaurants, and doctor office visits.

Glenview Gardens is just a residence. It wasn't as fancy as the other places, but it was clean and it was pretty. It was more like a home. The dining tables were more like kitchen tables, and there was nothing wrong with that. It was very pretty. I think they were all white. They had a sewing room set up, and women go up there and sew and make things. I notice they had been making pillow case dresses for little girls and things like that, which attracted me very much. It's not carpeted under the tables. That's really better. They offer activities, just about something going all the time, and then they take them on bus trips to stores like Wal-Mart and Goodwill. The staff seemed like they were very nice.
