McKay Manor

Visiting my grandmother at McKay Manor was always a pretty enjoyable experience. The manor is quite large, allowing quite a large number of occupants. The rooms are actually very nice, with a bedroom, bathroom with shower, small living area, kitchen, and refrigerator for residents who choose to cook for themselves. For those who don't want to cook, there are dining facilities at the center of the building. Residents can receive meals tailored to their specific dietary needs. All residents also have a small patio, or balcony if on the second floor, to sit out on in nice weather. The only complaint I would say I have with the whole place, is the lack of color. The outside of the building is very nice to look at. However, the private rooms are almost entirely white. It would have been nice to see painted walls or different colored carpet in place of an all-white room.

My grandfather is in this facility and he likes it. The staff is nice to him and pays attention to him and his needs. It is clean and comfortable living quarters. I used to visit him every week but with my move I am not able to visit. I do write him and the staff helps him by reading it and helps write me back. I miss him and being able to see him at any time. Normally I was able to visit him with no real restrictions. I hope to visit him in the summer when I take a trip back to Indiana. McKay Manor is large facility but it is very home like and community and family oriented. The facility shares the Five Star Values, and is committed to a high level of caring in all that they do. I would recommend McKay Manor to anyone with an older family member who needs 24 hour care.
