I visited this facility

Suzanne Elise is a nice new facility with a lot of potential, but the staff needs to be re-tooled as they are clearly underpaid and overworked, so does the bland tasteless food. Sysco is a fine food company for restaurants when used to purchase raw product, but in a coastal town with fresh ingredients readily available, you would think that the "chef" would enjoy making something other than previously frozen meals.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The facility is nice and clean and well kept. My grandparents enjoy the food, and have a very large room with a great view. However, the service is not up to par. Several times my grandpa has been taken to get a shower, and comes back wearing the same dirty clothing he went in. They also are supposed to shave him, however often times they do not. Because of this, my mother has decided to stop paying for the services through the assisted living facility and has hired an outside woman to come in and bathe and help my grandparents. Although they used to have a lot of activities that the residents were encouraged to participate in, such as games on the patio, they have started scheduling less and less of these activities. Because of this, my grandparents mostly just stay in their apartment room. A nice facility with potential, however lacking in the service department.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I think Susan Elise Assisted Living Facility has done an very good job. The facility itself is beautiful and well kept and is probably the best feature. The staff were very friendly, but considering the pay in the field of assistant living (and the remote area of the Oregon Coast), some of the jobs tend to attract an unwholesome element. Many Staff would gather out back in a group to smoke. However, they did moved to a safe distance form the building. The higher ranking staff were always very intelligent and helpful. My Grandmother loved the activities also that they provided (singing, live music, poetry, arts & crafts sessions, board games, etc.). As far as safety goes, Susan Elise did a pretty good job. If someone got the flu, it would tend to tear through the populace extremely quickly. The Staff would do their best to contain the spread while being aware of preserving dignity and freedom. The preservation of dignity in what could be an undignified situation is something they are very good at.
