I went to Barton House. It was very nice, it was small, one-room I liked, the other room I didn't. They have a barbershop, anything, what anybody would like. The only thing I didn't like was they were all lined up in chairs. She said they had just finished eating and were resting, but it seemed crowded. It's a small place. I liked the staff, they were helpful, they were able to answer all my questions. It's an older building, it's clean. It's nearby, a ten-minute drive, and there are some restaurants there. The Barton House had a nice little courtyard sitting in a nice little picnic area.

My mother-in-law lived in Barton House for about ten years, so I am very familiar with their procedures and what they're able to do. The staff was very attentive, and they worked as a team. They got small bedrooms, but they try to keep the residents out of their rooms and have them involved in activities like music, balloon toss, art projects, cutting out pictures, working with the local junior high schools volunteers, and other things to keep them busy. They only use the bedroom basically for a nap or for bedtime. The food was really good. My husband and I would go and have Sunday brunch with my mother-in-law, and it was tasty. The residents seemed to eat pretty much all of it. Everything was home cooked. They would make a cake for dessert or a lasagna for lunch. They were all made from scratch, and they were very well balanced meals. One thing they could improve is to have a rehab onsite; they don't have one, but I think they have enough room for that. I hope they'll add it onto their services.

The care is fantastic. I am so happy with the staff there. I was stressed out in trying to find a good place for my dad and who would accept his behavior with this Dementia. I knew Barton House was special when they went to go see Dad in the hospital just to say hi, and they didn't even know if we choose their place or not. Through out the process they were always so darn nice and helpful. To this very day, all the staff there proves that they care every single day. I haven't had one issue yet with my dad, if anything he has gotten better. He is smiling, he is social, he is flirty. I mean what else can I ask for? I am so thankful to everyone there, and thank god I found Barton House!!!

I've had my family member there for a while now, mind you my family member has gone to two different assisted living/memory cares before Barton House. Barton House is like a group home on steroids, in the best way possible. The rooms are spacious enough for wheelchair and Walker bound residence; and their private! Which we all love, so we can have our own little party. The staff is so knowledgeable and caring that before we can even ask for something, they already know what to do or go get. All of them are trained extensively to handle any mental disorder, especially Alzheimer's and Dementia(our uncle is independent and is there for assisted living). We love the activities that they do for the residence(yes we play too), because they don't just tailor it to one person, they have multiple activities that are tailored to everyone. They do a lot of stuff for the veterans and they bring in a lot of different outside resources on top of what they already do within the walls of Barton House. Chaparral High School is right next door and that high school has a Barton House Club, which comes over and brightens everyone's day. The only thing I regret is not finding this place sooner, it's like a home just a really big one. It's not institutional, and it just seems to be more fitting for someone that doesn't want the biggest and the baddest. It's still a big place and beautiful, but it's home like. It's warm...it's inviting! You get home cooked meals(which is rare now a days in a lot of bigger places) You can't beat that. The caregivers to resident ratio is amazing, that was one of the deciding factors for us! Affordable, and we can trust them knowing that uncle is getting the attention that he needs to keep social and active mentally and physically. Every time we go in, no matter if it's late at night or midday; he's always happy and there's always something going on! A+++
