Barton House

I visited this facility

This facility has two buildings each built in a square. There are 20 private rooms with private baths. The living room, activity room and dining room along with a nurse station are in the center. It is built so all rooms come out directly to a living area with no hallways as they specialize in dementia residents.

The Barton House one has been there 12 years and the two for two years. It is actually on Scottsdale border.

All are fully handicapped equipped.

The large yards have walking paths, sitting areas, patio, and lots of greenery. All is secured and enclosed.

It is set-up and made simple due to the type of residents.

They have an RN and lpn one each house. There is always a nurse on call. If they have a caregiver unavailable managers take over. There is a med tech on weekends for the more independent.

They have a doctor who comes in. They attempt not to take residents out because of the level of functioning confuses them. So there is no transport. They adhere to a strict schedule for activities and meals.

They serve three meals a day and have a 10:30 am brunch and food on demand. They have a full time cook and attempt variety without confusion. The food is good.

They have a beauty salon and an activity director.

They have breakfast in am. They then adhere to a schedule of exercises, current events, and games. They have brunch and then downtime for rest or watching movies. in the afternoon they have more activities and eat supper at five.

It is very clean with a caring certified staff. I think they have a great place for loved ones who have dementia.
