Santa Maria Terrace was like an old hotel. The rooms are like motel rooms. It's just a big change coming from my home. The balcony was half the size of the other facility. It might be good to put one little table and chairs. But the upside was that they had a long narrow storage, but it was out off the balcony. The staff members were excellent. They have activities. They have a nurse on duty there at all times.

We went to Santa Maria Terrace. The place was very clean and nice. The people were friendly and helpful. We saw a studio room, and it was very small. It used to be an old hotel, so you had a hotel room size. If you want two rooms, it was just two hotel rooms with an adjoining door. The dining room was very nice and very light. There was a lot of very big windows, so you could see the grounds from the dining room. We were able to order, eat, and try the food. It was good, but not amazing. We were not allowed to be in the dining room with the residents while they were eating, so we had our meal in a separate room. We also had to have masks on while we were there. We all had coffee. The coffee was very, very strong, like it had been sitting in the pot all day.

We really liked Santa Maria Terrace. The residents seemed very happy. I saw the menu, and it had a nice variety of food. The dining room had white tablecloths, and the menu was a nice card-bound menu. It felt like you were walking into a restaurant, and it was really nice to see the variety that they could choose from. I would be very comfortable with my sister-in-law living there. Their price was very reasonable. I just wish I could get her in there right now. It was an old hotel that they converted, so all the rooms were upstairs. You get there by an elevator. They told me that her room would be cleaned everyday and that she would go down to the dining room to eat. She could go outside into the courtyard. They had a big area where they get together for bingo, big activities, and birthday parties. I wouldn't mind living there myself if I needed it. Friston Abata, the Marketing Director, was the one who assisted me with the tour.

It was independent living that I toured at Santa Maria Terrace. They had this assisted living part where they went in, and they did the bathing and everything. It was a really nice place, but it did not fit for my husband. They gave him a small bachelor apartment, which was really nice. He would have been upset wondering why he wasn't at home there. It was more of a socialized place, and it didn't fit him. The place was very nice, and they offered a lot. It was just not his style. They offered a lot of services. It just didn't fit my husband's personality. The staff gave a very good tour. She was very nice. They had a patio and a walking area. It was a large area. They had a library.

I went to Santa Maria Terrace. They have lots of activities and rooms, but I just wasn't all impressed with the overall quality of it. The guy was very nice, and we had a very nice tour. They have a very nice garden outside. I think the restaurant part, the eating part would probably be nice. We didn't eat any food or anything there, but you can order off the menu. It's kind of like a restaurant-style type thing. That's a nice feature. It has bigger rooms, nice-sized for living, you could have a bedroom, and maybe a living room area. There is no kitchenette in them. But overall, I was not impressed with the facility's cleanliness, or whatever it is in the rooms themselves. Maybe the room they showed us hadn't been cleaned up yet, but while walking down the hall to the rooms I was just depressed. They had very small hallways. There was a nurse on call, but there wasn't someone there like 24 hours a day in case my relatives needed help.

I had a nice visit to Santa Maria Terrace. It was very well organized and very clean. They had plenty of other areas for the residents to be able to get around. The rooms were small but very comfortable-looking. Overall, I just liked the layout. I thought everybody was excellent. They had a library, very well set up tables for the seniors, and a room with a television set up with sitting quarters and all. We also really enjoyed the garden. It was very nice, comfortable, and pleasant to look at or to sit and just kind of reflect. I liked the initial conversation we had with the lady that we spoke with. Her explanation was very good.

Santa Maria Terrace was clean. The buildings were a little older, but everything was kept clean. The staff during the tour was very friendly and very nice. They have an activity room where they do bingo and shopping trips. The rooms were very small. They're like hotel rooms, so that was not appealing to us. It didn't fit our needs, and they were older.

I visited this facility

We toured Santa Maria Terrace. It is actually an old Holiday Inn that's been converted, so there's not actually a little kitchen sink or anything; there is just a very small tabletop refrigerator and no freezer. My parents wanted to be able to rent a couple a little dishes or whatever when they eat their snacks in the room, and they were not open to rinsing their dishes in the bathroom sink, which would be the only sink that they have available to do so. The personnel there were very nice. The grounds are very nice. The dining area is very nice, but as far as the actual activity rooms and the apartments themselves, they're very old and very dated. The cabinetry and everything, I would imagine, were the original that was there when it was a Holiday Inn. The fixtures in the bathrooms and the bathrooms themselves are very old and discolored, so that was a bit of a turn off. There were a few little cutouts when you first come in, like it would be in a hotel room where you could set your bags down, and that could be an area where you could put a little microwave. The rooms have a little box refrigerator that would just hold cans of soda or whatever, so it was really not designed for my parents. There's very little in the way of cupboard space for them to put snacks that they could eat right in their room. The personnel there were very nice and very helpful, however. The price to be there is reflective of that, so they're probably one of the cheaper facilities out there. The staff and the gentleman who gave us the tour were very nice.

I visited Santa Maria Terrace for my dad, and it was good. I like it. The staff were great and very understanding. The facility was clean and comfortable. The rooms looked nice and neat. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they get a free doctor's visit; it comes with the charging of the room and board. They take them to the doctor, and they bring them home. They serve hot plate food. They have a nice, beautiful garden. It is a great neighborhood.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into Santa Maria Terrace and they have been very nice. I use a walker, I have neuropathy, and I can't cook my own meals. However, the staff members are really super. They're so helpful and nice. Their food is pretty good, too. They have dining from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., which is really nice. So if I miss breakfast time I can still get it until the time they set up for lunch. I like my apartment. It is sunny and bright. I'm happy, my cats are happy, and that's all that matters. The gardens here are quite beautiful. There are places to sit outside, a nice gazebo, and a beautiful rose garden. It is quite lovely. The place is a reconverted hotel, and the only problem I have with it is that the bathroom is so small that you can't get a walker inside. I just got back from an activity which I really liked. They have a large collection of nail polishes and they will file and paint your nails for you, too. It's a good thing. Besides getting your nails pretty, you get a lot of fun socialization, which I like. I also like the ice cream socials; they're fun. We play bingo, rummy cube, lots of card games, and do trivia.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My ex-husband has moved into Santa Maria Terrace. It isn't a new facility, but it's very clean. The staff is loving and caring. They're very respectful of the community. They help my ex-husband get dressed in the morning and shower. He's enjoying it and loves the food. They will make whatever he wants. They have little day trips for shopping, a big rec room where they have games and puzzles, and provide exercise in an exercise room with machines. The biggest thing they need to do is upgrade the facility. If you're in a wheelchair, it's almost impossible to go through hallway doors because everything is narrow and smaller. My ex-husband loves their attention to detail. Financially, it's a good deal.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We chose Santa Maria Terrace for my mom. Our experience could be better, but it's not bad. I like the community, and the facilities are good, and it seems to function. We signed our mom up for things like an escort service and shower assistance, but some of those things didn't work out so well. We ended up cancelling the escort service because it was kind of hit and miss. Sometimes they would be there and sometimes they wouldn't. It wasn't worth paying for because she gets around fine without them. And it looks like we're cancelling the shower service as well. Because all they do is help her wash, they don't really help her get in and out of the shower, which is really the assistance that she needed. There's a few little things that I think maybe could improve, but overall, it's good. They have everything from bingo night, to movie night, trips to the store, and to different places on the central coast that would be considered a more touristy kind of things to do, like going to Avila Barn. On Sundays they have worship services provided by a local church there. The staff is very helpful if you engage them, but you kind of have to ask. It would be better if they asked you, maybe, but if you go track them down they're very helpful and polite. They keep the place very nice.

My father moved into Santa Maria Terrace. The facilities are very clean, very nice, and well taken care of. He's very happy with his room, the food, and everything else. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. It's really a good situation for him. I've eaten twice with him, and the food was definitely acceptable and good.

Santa Maria Terrace used to be a hotel, so it’s more of a retirement place. They are more independent, and my dad needs more care. It was very nice. They have a place downstairs where they eat and dine, and it was very nice. From what I could tell, everybody said the food was really good. I would recommend it for somebody that is more independent and could take care of themselves.

Santa Maria was nice, not that fancy, and looked like a renovated hotel. They were late for the appointment. The rooms were isolated, so you need to take the elevator, but they were nice, and affordable.

Santa Maria Terrace was a hotel. My mother rides a scooter, and the hallways would be too long and narrow. It wasn’t very friendly and appealing. The person who took us on a tour was fine. She didn’t know we were coming, so I was not sure if there was miscommunication because were told to be there. It's important to eat at the place you're visiting because most seniors care about the food. We were not asked to eat there. It just wasn’t a place that my mother would like. When we were there, they were all sitting around in one room like they were having a party for somebody. The residents seemed very happy because I usually liked to go out and talk to them. The room configuration with the two bathrooms would not work for my mom.

Let's start by saying this is not as easy process. My father has been trying his best to stay at but it hasn't been working out. We both toured Santa Maria Terrace and were very impressed with the kind and caring attitude we were shown. It meant a lot to both of us. The grounds are beautiful and the activities seem to be right up my dad's alley. He loves to play poker. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. We talked to a few residents and they all gave us their approval to move in. It was a great experience touring and dad will be joining them soon.

I visited Santa Maria Terrace and was very impressed on what they had to offer. If anyone says they are bored there then they are not looking in the right places.. I am very active and want to live somewhere that I have things to do and that is there. I wish that I could move right now but I have a home to sell but I know this is where I will move when it does. The staff there is very friendly and helpful and listened and answered all the questions I had in a very kind manner which I didn't get at other places I looked. I have not had lunch there yet but have been invited too. I will take her up on the offer soon. The food smells wonderful. The apartment I looked at looked over the grounds that are very well kept. The apartment beautiful and a perfect size for me. If you ever get a chance to visit Santa Maria Terrace please do, it's lovely!

I visited this facility

Santa Maria Terrace Senior Living is not as impressive as the other facilities I have visited. It is basically a hotel that was redesigned into an assisted living facility. For a two-bedroom apartment, they put together two adjoining rooms. There were very offensive odors in the hallway. It did not seem fresh, clean, and bright. The dining-room is restaurant-style. They need to improve on their cleanliness, and odor control. The staff was very friendly though.

I am a friend or relative of resident

it was hard finding the right community for my mom. She had been living in her home since my father and her were first married. She had many memories and attachment to her home. When we started the search for assisted living she was very resistant to the idea. I cannot even begin to tell you how many large and small communities we looked at until she made her final decision was to move to Santa Maria Terrace. We visited numerous time and there was always a friendly face greeting us from the staff to the residents. What impressed me the most were the residents and how well they interact together and how open they were with sharing their experiences living at Santa Maria Terrace. They all love living here and they love the staff. It seems like a big family. My mom and I had lunch there on a few occasions and the food was great. When she finally moved in the staff and the resident ambassador program helped her get acquainted with the community. She has been doing a lot of the activities and going on the outings. My mom is happy and doing so much better than she was at home. I feel at ease and I am actually planning a vacation knowing my mom will be ok! I recommend you taking a look at Santa Maria Terrace.

I visited Santa Maria Terrace. They seemed to offer more things going on, but the rooms were converted hotel rooms. If you want a one-bedroom unit, you end up with two bathrooms, and you don't need two. The facility wasn't as pleasant, although the grounds were very nice. They have spacious grounds that you can use for personal business. They did have activities going on in there in their main building. Overall, Santa Maria Terrace was pleasant and livable, but it didn't impress me.

For the most part this is a gem! Santa Maria Terrace is a 4-story building centrally located within a block of the hospital, medical facilities, doctors offices, as well as a pharmacy. They provide outings in the community for doctor's appointments, CVS Pharmacy, Vons, and some on-site activities, as well as Balance Classes. They have a lovely dining area with scheduled meals. There is a quiet courtyard with a rose garden and many beautiful trees. All the the staff I have met are kind and patient. In the later part of the 1980 this residential facility was a very nice hotel; and all the current rooms are large hotel suites, with private bathrooms and outside views. The challenges - within the last couple of years the property was purchased by Ensign, and there are many relatively new management staff, and/or staff in new positions learning new responsibilities. Also, because the building is at least 35 years old, it has been undergoing improvements which has resulted in some challenges for the residents. In October 2014 the hot water heaters apparently had to be replaced, as well as other issues with the building that left residents without hot water in their bathrooms for 1 week. Temporary trailers were brought on the property and placed in the parking lot behind the structure for residents to use.

I was so amazed with the community. My mom is not ready to move just yet but this will be the place she will be moving to. We were taken through the building and shown the wonderful amenities. My mom was able to talk to a few of the residents there and they all seemed very happy. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed everything about the tour. We were invited back for lunch which I thought was wonderful. It was a great experience for both mom and I and we both appreciate the attention and compassion that was shown to us. This is not an easy desicion but the tour help tremendously. Thank you Santa Maria Terrace for you help!

I paid a visit at Santa Maria Terrace Senior Living once. The rooms did not appeal to me. My mother-in-law needed a living room, kitchen and her own room. I did not think they had a lot of employees to attend to the residents. I would suggest they hire more employees and a more updated amenities.

We found a place for my dad in Santa Maria Terrace. We chose this facility for him because it was really homey. It wasn't stuffy and the place is really clean and the people are very friendly. The best thing about this community is that they have a lot of activities for all the residents that will keep them busy and that's really important so they will not get bored. My dad will be moving in to Santa Maria Terrace on the 22nd. It's just really friendly and homey feeling. It feels right. Definitely a great place to recommend to others.

We are in the process of entering my dad into this facility. We visited it Sunday morning and had a wonderful introduction, visit and meeting the staff, medical and all the way down to maids. This place had the most up beat patients-residents I have every seen in a facility. My husband and I know because we used to manage an Independent facility 6 years ago. Any way my hats are off to this facility and we are waiting for the OK to move dad in!
