I toured Atria Collwood. I liked all of the programs that they had, the different levels of care that they offered, and the way it was structured. It was like an a la carte menu. They had it in such a way that it was very transparent like that. You could see what you were paying for, and the facility was really well kept up. It's a really nice facility and the people there all seemed really on top of everything. Everyone there was very friendly. One of the directors of something was really helpful. She took her time, showed me the different places, and answered a lot of questions which some of the places did, but she just did an exceptionally good job at that. I thought that's why I like that place so much.

My former husband was at Atria Collwood. It was very good and very clean. The people were very nice. They tried to do their best, but they weren't licensed to do some of the stuff that was needed for my former husband. Everybody was very caring. For the person staying, the food was very good. For the person that was just visiting, it was very bland, but of course, they have to take into consideration everybody. But everything was very nice. The facilities for parking and stuff were very easy. My former husband had a sunny room, which I think is pleasant. He had a window. The bathroom was comparable to assisted living. We were able to put everything in like pictures on the wall and his Juris Doctor degree. He was an attorney. They all knew him by the first name. I wasn't there at the end when my boys moved him out, but there was a lot of stuff going on. They had a nice library. They could enlarge the print and it is very nice to have that. They had people doing bingo all the time, they had puzzles, and they can work out. The people that work there were involved with the individuals on the different items that I just mentioned.

I know someone who lives in Atria Collwood, and I know that they care for their patients. What bothered me was the rate of increase that they charged, it was like up to ten percent, and there was no cap, so that's what scared me off from doing independent care. I'm not OK with putting somebody in a community, and then you're a victim to whatever rate rises that they want to do. So that's a big, big concern. They said we'd be provided food and we never were. If you say you're going to do it, do it. It was a bummer because we planned on it. The person I knew who lived there was well-treated, and the staff was amazing to her. But I don't like being told I'm going to get something and then I don't get it. It was 2020 and during COVID, so the costs were higher. But other places I talked to said three to eight percent, and the average is three percent to five percent, so that seemed just really high to me. The staff is really good and gets along with them well. Every time I went to visit my friend, they were always very kind. It doesn't have as much spaciousness as the other place I toured, but it had cool little spaces like puzzle spaces.

Atria Collwood was nice. The people were nice at the time. The layout was good. They had transportation and food. It was a good value. It was just at the time, that they weren't taking people because of COVID. They just had a change of management. The old management was lovely, and I only interacted with the new management once or twice and at the time, it was a little chaotic because they were changing.

I liked Atria Collwood. The rooms were huge. It was a smaller community. They had independent living and assisted living. The girl at the front desk was very helpful. She was where she needed to be, and she was wonderful. She was a good first person to come see. The place was a little bit older, and they didn't have as many openings as most of the other places. The girl said they were at 90% capacity at this point in time. They had two-levels. She showed me the dining room. They had an outdoor dining and grilling place, a little fitness area, courtyard, walking paths, places that residents could just go sit outside, and a library. The staff was very outgoing and very friendly. Everybody said hello, and that was one thing that impressed me. It seems like all the people that work there, all looked professional, neat, very friendly, outgoing, and had smiles on their faces. It just seemed like they enjoy the environment that they were in. I think it takes a special person to be able to work in that sort of environment. They had exercises, a library, and outdoor dining areas. There's a lot of places that you could go outside. The gal showed me a couple rooms that were actually very large and very comparable. The only thing that turned me off on them was she brought me to a room on the second floor and it had like an outside, almost like a common walkway. Anybody that lived on that side would have access to it. When I stepped out there, it looked like the railings needed painting. It looked like it wasn't used very much, and it needed a facelift. That was the only negative thing I would have to say about them.

Atria Collwood was small. It did not have a lot of courtyard/open space, it was limited, but the location was good. It was more in town, right in the urban area. The rooms were small too, but they were the least expensive. They had rooms starting at $1,800 or $1,900 a month. They had sit down dining services as opposed to a buffet, which looked nice, and daily activities for the people, happy hours every once in a while, and areas where people could exercise. They had some different facilities, so overall, I thought the money was reasonable.
