Shire at Culverton Adult Home

The Shire at Culverton is a lovely little community - all of the residents are very close with one another and they live so harmoniously together, I mean, sure they have their moments - but that is with any community. The question is, is how quickly and successfully do those "moments" get resolved. The answer is very quickly - it's funny actually, they can fight like cats and dogs but be close as ever laughing and joking 5 minutes later. I've been told by the residents that it's "healthy" because they speak their minds to each other and they don't hold anything in until it topples over - they say the quarrels happen because sometimes the others do like what they have to say. The residents here are some of the funniest, most fun-loving people I have ever met. I really do not know how the staff members remain so professional - if I were their caregiver they would have me doubled-over laughing all day long. They are some great people.

The home is very cute, as home-like as a adult care home can get, I think anyways. The residents all seem to be very comfortable in it and it's a safer area of Rochester so the residents can go enjoy the grounds and remain in a secure environment. There is a lot for the residents to do around the community, they have many activities and fun events for the residents to participate in and the staff members actually get in there and have fun with the residents much of the time. I like to see them spend such quality time with the residents. Together, the staff and residents, are a family and they are so great in their interaction and in communicating with one another. I can see that the residents are very comfortable and trusting of the staff members.

The one thing about this staff that both the residents and families have commented on is that they are the people you want around in the event of an emergency. They say that the staff remains so level-headed and calm, that just their presence calms those around them. They say that the staff members have proved to everyone that they know how to handle themselves and the community while protecting each and every resident during an emergency. I personally have noticed that they are very responsive and knowledgeable in knowing how to handle resident health concerns. They have great common sense - they don't get paranoid and call 911 when a resident stubs their toe but they also don't JUST give an aspirin to a resident having chest pains. They seem to know how to handle every situation that comes along in a logical, ethical, and professional manner and that is something to ALWAYS look for in every communities care team.

The Shire at Culverton is an Adult Care Home that is a must see - you will love the residents, each and every one of them - and you will see how welcoming and accepting the community is.
