I visited this facility

We received a tour at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh, and the guide was very helpful and very knowledgeable. The facility was very nice. It was clean based on what we saw at the time. We saw the courtyard. It's near the hospital and restaurants.

The tour I had at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh was very good. It was an older facility, but it was very nice. The staff were also very nice and very welcoming, and we considered that place for my mom. I liked the location and the friendliness of the staff. It's just older.

I visited this facility

I was able to visit the Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. I like the location, and it had a better view than another place I've toured so my mom would be able to see trees and foliage, other than traffic and concrete. The young lady that gave me the tour seemed to be very in-tuned with the residents, and they seemed to like her. We were just a little concerned with the odor when we first came to the memory care floor, and the rooms were pretty small. The staff we met with was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and personable, gets along with the staff, and she seemed to enjoy her job. They permitted an opportunity for my mom to come in for a 30-day trial to know how she would fit, and how she would be treated as she acclimated to the residents. I like that part of it. They also had a salon, periodically brought in outside arts and crafts vendors, and that sort of thing. They just needed some upgrades and updating, the rooms were pretty small, and maybe it was because I had gone on a Sunday, so the residents looked more lethargic on the weekend. I would suggest they do some renovations, maybe a little bit more lighting because the current lighting was very subdued and yellow.

I liked Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. The residents looked happy. But I did not like the layout of the rooms as much. They seemed to be smaller and I just didn't get that same sense that I got from another place. The staff that I met were nice though. They had a hair salon, and they would do your nails. They were having a happy hour when we were there and they were playing a game and they were very engaged with them.

Brighton Gardens of Raleigh was similar to the other place. They may have had a little bit of difference in the room make-up as far as the floorplans. They were nice and clean. It was a first-class place. The staff was very helpful. The lady that showed us around over there was there as long as we had questions. We were early there, and she took us a little bit early, which was fine. She had nothing but positivity the whole time that she was showing us the place, so it was great. They go the extra mile for you, I can tell that. We got to see the menu and the dining area, and they have several things that they have for lunch. They have a certain dinner, but they can make you whatever you want. It's very nice. The whole dining room area was big and very nice.

Brighton Gardens of Raleigh is a beautiful community. I like the common areas. When you walk in, there's a common room with a TV and couches, and there were people sitting there watching TV. You had a view of the dining room right away, which was beautifully laid out. I really like that. As you go toward even more deeply into the community, we could see the garden and the libraries. It just seemed like everywhere you went, there was a really nice place that somebody could just sit down and find something to do within those common areas. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. The common areas were very, very nice, but the rooms themselves were much smaller than what I was expecting. We didn't like the rooms as much, but we loved the common areas, and the level of care that they provide overall. The one-bedroom had a little kitchenette. It was an open area with a little living room area, and off to the side was a bedroom. You could pretty much just put a queen bed and a nightstand on either side of the queen bed, and a dresser at the foot of the bed, and that was it. That was all that would fit in the room. For a single person, that would probably be a nice layout, but since we were looking for my grandparents as a couple, it was incredibly small. We knew that wasn't going to work for them just based on the size. It had a bathroom in there as well. The facility looked well kept. There was nothing that seemed alarming to me. I know they said they were in the process of doing some renovations as well, but it all looked very good. They had a hair salon and a private sort of dining room that you could reserve for family events or birthday parties or whatever. They had a library on every floor. They had a room with fitness equipment in there, like their physical therapy room, they do your laundry as part of the package, and they had doctors onsite.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law currently lives in Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. So far, he's very happy being there. He loves that the staff comes and checks on him. He's made friends and he likes the fact that he can get out and be able to experience a sense of community, instead of being stuck in a room the whole time. We felt very welcomed when we went to visit him. The whole family is very happy with them. The staff is really great, and they're taking really great care of him. He's in a studio with a bathroom, a closet, and a very large pantry (if he wants to store his food). He has a small counter space, a small refrigerator, and a couple of cabinets above the sink area. It's pretty small, but it's enough for him because he can't really get around yet. They have bingo almost every night, some live music, stringed instruments (that we thought he would be interested in), a social hour usually around mealtimes or snacks, and a walking club. When you walk in, you have to be buzzed in and you have to have them let you out. So, it's a safe place. For COVID, you have to do the wrist check for temperature and everybody has to be vaccinated, including kids. They have the whole café right there in the front when you walk in. There is a couch area where you can sit, and there's usually a bunch of people sitting there watching TV together and talking. The kids are really interested in the glass birdcage with two birds in it. We actually got to eat dinner there, and that was kind of pricey for us. We even had to pay for our son too. The food was decent. It was like a regular homestyle family restaurant. It's set up like a fancy hotel where you just walk through and has elevators to each of the floors. Everything is pretty. It feels homey with the lamps and a couple of chairs here and there in the hallway. Then there's a couple of eating areas on different levels. I hope they could just lower the price for the assisted living.

I made an in-person tour of Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. It was fine. The facility was fine. The tour guide was fine. It's just that it was $6000 a month, and that's just too much money. They have a nice garden in the back that's all locked in. It's very pleasant. The whole facility was pleasant. The decor and everything was nice. I don't think it's any different than any of the other available ones, but their garden was nice in the back. The staff who assisted me was very nice. We went on a Saturday, so she just filled in for the normal person who does tours. They offer the usual like arts and crafts. They had plenty of activities for them. They showed us a room. They also showed us the dining room, the garden, and the arts and crafts room, and things like that. They were nice. Nothing is outstanding about them, but they were nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad is at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. So far, it's very good. We like it. He is in a one-bedroom, and he likes his little apartment. It has a little living room, a separate bedroom, and a bath with a walk-In shower, which is very helpful. He says they have great food, and he thoroughly enjoys being there. They found that he doesn't participate in the activities very much so they found something he would participate in, which is passing out the morning news for the community, and he's doing well with that. They have all kinds of amenities for them. It's just very nice. They got a bus that will take them places. They've got a great dining room, TVs in several different places where they can go, a library, a social room, and a bar. They have happy hour. The first day my dad was there, he was greeted by them, and they asked if he'd like a drink and he said he wanted a bourbon and coke and they had him hooked. He's like, 'OK, this is nice!' It is super clean, but it is super expensive.

Brighton Gardens of Raleigh was a nice facility. The staff there was nice. It was before dinner, so I didn't see any food. It's an open place. I saw some people out sitting around, and they had an area where you could just sit and watch TV. They have a baby grand piano there. I didn't see any organized activity, but they had a van. They provide transportation wherever they need to go: doctor, shopping, or wherever.

My wife was in Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. She is deceased about a year and a half. They did outstanding care. I would be looking for a place similar to that, if and when I need to go to such a place. It was basically an assisted living facility with a memory care unit. They had medical professionals and a doctor once a week. They had nurses available around the clock. My wife was there for eight years. I was with her just hours before she died, and we had hospice care with her at that time. I can always say good things about that place. Our home was only six blocks away. My wife went in in memory care. She was advanced with memory care. She fell, damaged her head severely, and had three neuro surgeries. She had to go into memory care when she came out of the third surgery because I would not have been able to care for it at that level. The staff was very good. The physical condition of the place was excellent. They had all sorts of games for the assisted living. The people would come down early and had a social hour. They had a bar available for those people in assisted living. They did not have one for memory care. Obviously, that would not have worked for that.

Brighton Gardens of Raleigh was a little bit older, but still very well kept. It's a slightly different style of building. When you walk in, it's not fancy and grand, but it's still very inviting and homelike. They had a beautiful dining room, they had gathering areas, and the girl who gave me the tour was extremely helpful, very nice, and very friendly. I was able to see more than one room to get an idea of the size, and they were all very nice. They had a library, a couple of courtyards for both assisted living and memory care, and a busy activity schedule. When I got there, some of them were getting ready for a gathering where they would socialize and be together. It was near the end of the day before dinner, and everybody seemed really excited to be there. It's also not a huge facility, so everybody kind of knows each other.

I visited the Brighton Gardens of Raleigh for my mother-in-law, and I think they are very caring, and the place was very clean. I think the level of care they would provide would be fantastic for assisted living. We just had a very good feeling talking to the people there. In fact, it is our number one choice at the present time. We saw the dining room and we were able to see different scenarios at different apartments that they had available.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law has moved from assisted living in Wilmington, NC to independent living in Raleigh, to assisted living in Pinehurst, to assisted living at Brighton Gardens in Raleigh, NC. This by FAR is the worst management staff we have ever dealt with. We understand that COVID-19 has brought on new situations for staff. However, we are now about a week from Christmas 2020 and it seems the management has had time to get used to COVID procedures and protocol by now! My mother-in-law first tested positive for COVID October 21, 2020. We just returned from vacation and she tested negative while we were away. That said, of course, we do not want her to spend Christmas Day alone. We tried for three days to leaving messages and sending email to set up a visit (appointment required to visit relative). We received no responses. After two days, we questioned why Ashley had not responded. I was told she would be out the rest of the week. Upset, I left a message for the assistant executive director of the facility. Over 19 hours later, we still had no response. Determined to speak to someone, we called the facility and insisted on speaking to a person (no more VM). The assistant executive director repeatedly spoke over me as I tried to voice our concerns. It became a yelling match to see who could talk the loudest. It is not unusual to have difficulty having emails / calls returned concerning loved ones. I am extremely tired and frustrated with the excuse given by the management, "we have 70 resident families to communicate with...blah, blah, blah..." I did call the home office and the call was returned within the hour. As far as value, my mother-in-law pays nearly $7,000.00 per month. Value? You decide! Karen Chadwick

They were very nice at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. I enjoyed talking to them, but the community wasn't what I was looking for for my uncle. It's not as bright. It's a hotel that was turned into a senior home, and it had that feel to it. It didn't feel like home to me. We went to both their assisted living and their memory care facilities. The dining area was pleasant, and they had a craft room. The physical facility was not my favorite, but the staff was lovely.

Brighton Gardens of Raleigh was remodelling, but it looked like it was going to be very nice. I would recommend others to look at it and definitely consider this place. The tour was a very good experience. I was pleased with it, but I only spent a couple of hours with them. The rooms looked lovely. It was clean and freshly painted. They had a nice menu.

My visit with Brighton Gardens of Raleigh was good, and we were considering it. The issue was that I was told there's an LPN at night, but after further discussion we learned that there weren't LPNs at night which is a big deal for us. They showed us a recreational calendar and talked about how they get the residents involved. They had painting and other arts and crafts. The dining area seems fine and spacious, and I've had no issues with it.

Brighton Gardens of Raleigh was more expensive than the others, and it was out of our price range. It was absolutely beautiful, but you get two very similar, plain rooms with not a lot of windows in a little apartment, and for the price they were asking, it would have been more upscale. The dining area was very nice, open, and had lots of little tables where you could meet friends or smaller tables if you just want to have one other person with you. I really liked it, but the rooms just didn't equal the amount that you're going to pay. The staff all seemed very friendly, knowledgeable about the amenities that they provided, and very up to date on what they were talking about, which I appreciated.

The residents at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh were out of their rooms and interacting with each other, and it seemed for the most part that they were having a good time. The staff seemed to enjoy their jobs, and the facility had a good ambiance. Also, the food was wonderful. The location was very convenient for me, and the facility itself was beautifully designed. The landscaping at the front was very beautiful, and there was a nice outdoor sitting area for the residents.

I visited Brighton Gardens, and their food was awful. The hallways were very small, and it was hard to get around. It’s on a very busy street, so it did not really look good at all. The staff was very nice. During my visit, they had the television on. They didn’t have any activities when we were there. The dining room was very small and old looking.

I went to Brighton Gardens. I liked the atmosphere and the staff. Everybody seemed very friendly. They had a pretty dining area. The one thing I didn’t really care for about it was that most people sit out in front of the building in rocking chairs where there is a lot of traffic. The rooms seemed nice, cozy, comfortable, maybe a little bit dated with furnishings but overall very nice. It did not have a pool, but I do remember a salon and a small library. It seemed like there were a good variety of activities. They had a lot going on on the calendar. When I was there, there were some residents who were getting ready to head out shopping on a shuttle. It looked like it’s a very active community.

I loved Brighton Gardens of Raleigh and put down a deposit. It was clean, caring, and had attention being paid to all memory care unit people. I was impressed and rather happy with it. I think I saw the end of lunch when they are talking to each other and the caregivers. There was a lot of interacting and I was pleased with that. Instead of trying to control them with drugs, they were keeping them involved. The rooms are clean, nice, and pleasant. Rooms are had nothing because people furnish them. The rooms are just a blank space.

We were able to put dad at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh last October. We looked at several facilities and we liked this facility the most. Dad had an accident and is having brain injuries, so from the specifics of activities there are very few that he could participate in. The only ones that he can go to are the ones that are exercise related. We’ve been very happy with the staff for the most part. They all have been very friendly and helpful and in general, I am really pleased.

As far as I can tell, the facility is really strong. The rooms and areas I walked through (not very extensive) seemed clean, well-lit and pretty well-appointed. The staff were friendly, as were many of the other residents. The resident sometimes complains about the food (too sweet, too salty, doesn't taste "authentic"), but I honestly haven't sampled anything besides a cookie, and this person is critical of most foods. I don't know about all the services they offer, but the resident says that she has a number of good friends and keep intellectually active. She is a well-to-do individual and very critical, so for her not to complain about a wide variety of ills probably speaks highly of the place and staff members. I do remember hearing a story about her spraining an ankle (or wrist? This was over a year ago) and she was really happy with the level of attention.

Friend or relative of resident

My Father in Law was a resident of this facility while recovering after surgery and our overall experience, including the staff, facility, meals and more, was exceptional. From the day we moved him in, the staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Even though my father in law is somewhat ornery, the staff was always nice and courteous and went out of the way to make his stay enjoyable. His room was spacious and clean and the facility was impeccable. The food was above average and included things that you wouldn't normally see in an assisted living facility. Overall, we would gladly recommend this facility to anyone.
