I visited this facility

Providence Place of Pottsville was very nice. It was just a little bit more than the price range that we wanted to stay within, but it was a very nice facility and it had nice amenities. They had nice patio areas that you could go outside and sit, some very nice social areas, and dining areas. The way their rooms were designed and the upkeep of it was very nice. It's a slightly newer facility. It's a little more on the high-end side, decor-wise, but they are higher in price. You're paying for the nicer decor. It's very nicely decorated, nicely kept, very clean, and looked very welcoming. It was in mid-morning, so I guess a lot of the residents were probably finishing up their breakfast. I didn't witness any activity, but I saw an activities calendar and they have plenty of activities for the residents to take part in if they choose to.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother moved into Providence Place Senior Living of Pottsville. It's about five miles from where we live and he's in assisted living. We like the location because it's close to home. He likes the staff, they're attentive to his needs. His accommodation is satisfactory and it's what he needs for his care. He likes the food and he's a picky eater. The environment is very pleasing, he likes to sit outside since it has a great view. They give 24/7 care, all meals are provided along with laundry service. He's also able to get his hair cut there, so that's good. They seem to have nice activities, but he doesn't utilize them, which I wish he would.

My mother was a resident for almost 2 years. She was always treated with the utmost respect and received excellent care. ALL staff were like part of our family. During the trying times of covid, my mother received the best of care and support. Administration and nursing departments were easy to deal with and kept us updated on any changes or needs. Friendly atmosphere and clean, tasteful physical structure. Definitely the best place for my mother.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Our relative is currently a resident in the Connections Unit. We visit our relative every week and can not say enough good things about the competent, caring and friendly staff. Over the years, they have become an extended family to us. No matter how short handed the staff is on any given day (which seems to be more frequent lately), they rally around each other and help out where they are needed. Whether it be helping with a 2-person assist for residents with showers, etc., helping in the dining room (setting up, feeding, or cleaning up for three meals), making beds and doing laundry, giving residents their proper medications during the day, getting residents ready for any doctor's appointments they may have scheduled and many other things the staff does that may go unnoticed but certainly not unappreciated. There really should be a larger staff for the number of residents in the Connections Unit.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My ex-husband is in Providence Place in Pottsville right now. I was able to get him in there right away and I know a lot of people up there that recommended it. They were very helpful and cordial in taking care of him and meeting his needs. He has a room, it's very well kept. What I like is all the activities that they offer and the food service is outstanding. He gets a list every week of all the activities that go on and there's quite a few of them plus they take the people out in the community.

I visited this facility

My experience in this assisted living provider was a very enjoyable one. My fellow teammates and I were greeted into the facility with a grand tour of the building.I saw pretty much everything in their facility. I saw the many common areas for the residents, I saw the dinning areas, I saw the food preparation area, I saw the kitchen, I saw the many rooms, I was even able to tour a residents room, I saw the very beautiful outside area of the facility. I then, With my fellow football teammates, interacted with the many residence with a breakfast. I was able to have a conversation with many of the residents. During these conversations I was told by the residents how they enjoy living there very much and how well they were treated, most of them even said they felt like they were home. My overall thoughts of this facility were how nice and welcoming the employees were and how well the residents and employees interacted with each other.

Most people at the facility seem very nice. I've never had a problem with anyone there and it seems like my grandmother is happy there. She is suffering from moderate Alzheimer's and that is the reason she cannot live at home anymore. The staff there seems capable to take care of someone with Alzheimer's and make her feel that she is still a independent person. One thing about the facility that I feel is a little strange is that someone can walk in at any time and walk right through the facility. I suppose this might be for the residents to feel more free but it seems to me that anyone, no matter good or bad intentions could come in and not get asked why they are there. The same goes for taking my grandmother out for the day. Whenever we take her out, there are no sign-out sheets or anything to let the staff know she is gone. The resident could get into the wrong vehicle or wonder off and I worry that no one would notice. Other than these two concerns the facility is very nice. It is always very clean, the food is good, and the people there take the time to get to know the residents and become friends with them. Overall, I am very happy and relieved that my grandmother lives there instead of her house and that she approves of it.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Dealing with my Grandmother's Dementia was hard enough to deal with at home. My family thought enough was enough and she needs to be taken care of more professionally and perhaps be around people her age. My beliefs are that a nursing home should not be the first resort to place a family member in when they are dealing with a difficult issue. Thus, at first I was skeptical about placing my grandmother in Providence Place which is located approximately five minutes away from my house. After a few visits I was really impressed with all the help she was receiving from the employees/nurses. It meant a lot to me that they took their job serious and not treating it like another 5-9 gig. My Grandmother has passed away now but I must say my family and I don't regret our decision as far as placing her in a nursing home.
