Brookdale Oswego Springs Portland was very nice. The lady who showed us around was very knowledgeable and very welcoming. The rooms were very clean. I saw a one-bedroom and it looked really pretty big. The studio looked a little small, but that's a studio so that's what's expected. I thought the rooms were really nice. The people that I said hi to, said hi to me as well. They smiled and were just friendly people. They're going over major renovations right now, so a lot of it is new. I really loved their big fish tank when you first come in. They got those big, colorful fish, which is nice, especially if people can't see too well. They had a nice little garden area. It was really peaceful. It was back behind the building with a sidewalk and it felt like you were walking in the forest, because there's trees on one side, and the building on the other side. Then on the second floor they had a common area that was like an old fashioned 50s diner. I really liked that. That was really cute.

I was really impressed with the cleanliness of Brookdale Oswego Springs Portland, and the attention from the staff. Demi gave the tour and she did a really great job explaining everything, and working with us to help us understand the process. Overall, it was a really great experience. She put me at ease and made me feel like my mom would be really well taken care of there. The menu looked really good. She talked about the food as well, and explained that she really enjoys it, and they really pride themselves on having really tasty food for the residents. I got an activity schedule, and I think they had a nice wide range of activities, and some good options for my mom. I would definitely recommend them for what we have experienced so far.

I toured Brookdale Oswego Springs in Portland for my mom. It was great, but it was a little far out. The grounds weren't quite big enough for my mom; she wanted to be able to walk around a lot more. The thing that I like the most was the food there was good, and the people looked very lively. There were a lot of nice-looking people. They looked like they were happy, and they were active. It felt like a nice clean place. The thing I like the least was the rooms were kind of dark and small, but they had some big rooms there. They didn't have any outdoor patio spaces for a resident to go out. It's assisted living, so that doesn't surprise me. I tried to explain that to my mom that it was highly unlikely she would find a place where she would be able to get a patio like she has now. They feel like a good place, but for me they were a little bit too far, a little too out of the way, and a little too small in the sense that we wouldn't be able to walk around in it. I think someone had a bathroom accident at one point in the space because there was a little bit of an odor; but it's assisted living, so that happens. The whole place smelled clean; it's just that one little section, and they obviously had to start cleaning it up. The location was a little bit out of the way, and a little bit small, but it was really nice there. It wasn't quite what I was hoping for, but it was pretty nice.

Brookdale Oswego Springs Portland's location was good because we were looking for a place where there's shopping nearby, and the shopping areas were maybe three minutes away. My client also liked the small-community feel of Brookdale. We were really highly impressed with the head of the kitchen; she came out and talked to us about the food and the diets. We saw the menu, and the menu looked really good; we were really pleased. We talked to her about how they deal with diets and diet needs, so that was really good. Everybody was very strict on their guidelines for COVID, and they were doing all the right things and looking out for everybody there. The place was nice, the price was right, and the people there were very welcoming. All in all, it was a very good experience. The only thing they had at the time for us to view was a studio, and it was small and sparse, but it didn't deter us because he wanted to move into a studio anyway. But it was absolutely adequate. It had a full-sized refrigerator and a microwave in the room, which is really nice, and the large walk-in showers were really nice, too. Other than that, there wasn't anything really remarkable about the room or anything; it's just a room. The place was very welcoming, and it was bright. What we really liked about it was that he did not know what to expect from assisted living, and he was fearful of it. He thought there were a lot of people incapable of taking care of themselves at all, but he found that there were a lot of people there who were just like him and just need a little help. The dining room wasn't open yet, so they gave us food to go. It was a very plain meal, but it was adequate and was exactly what he needed.

We liked Brookdale Oswego Springs Portland. We really liked that one a lot. Their director was really phenomenal. It was an in-person tour. We toured it as much as we could. We didn't interact with a lot of the staff, but the marketing director was awesome. The facility was very clean. It looked like it was in really great shape.

Brookdale Oswego Springs Portland's food wasn't bad but wasn't good. It would be a good choice, though. The staff was very good, nice to us, gentle, and kind. The facility looked good. The location is a little high up, so they had a nice view of the town. They didn't have a whole lot of grounds but there were areas that you could go for a wander around the building. There was greenery and some flowers. It was nicely taken care of. They had buses to take you places if you don’t drive.

The direct care providers appear helpful and kind, but they report being inconsistently trained, do not seem to have good knowledge of the residents' plans that should be guiding their services, and do not seem to be functioning optimally as they are without strong leadership overseeing their work. Lots of miscommunication between staff and lack of a leader that is willing to focus on being accountable for services provided and true problem resolution.

Mom was at Brookdale Oswego Springs Portland. I am not going to say bad things about them, but organization could have been better. A lot of times we have questions that were not answered. She was happy there and she made some really good friends. The food was not good and they all complained about the food there. They were not rejected in any way. It's just for the money that you pay, I think they should have better food and better care. They definitely need to improve on the meals that they serve to the residents. They also need to improve on the maintenance.

When dropping off grandparents car I showed up to find employees parked in the handicapped spot they usually park in (the only one aside from the van and shuttle spot). She claimed parking was full when she arrived. Doesnt seem an acceptable excuse for parking in a handicapped spot at a residence like this. Everyone seemed to think it was a bit of a joke when I got upset and asked them to move. One employee even suggested I take the handicapped van spot as a compromise. Doesnt seem they have the residents or their families best interest in mind.

I can say that when you walk in, Emeritus is beautiful. It is really clean, green, and pretty, and it isn’t as expensive. The vacancies get taken up pretty quick. I happened to be there at mealtimes, and the food looked really good. Their music and entertainment happens in the actual dining room, and their rooms aren’t as nice. They seem to really care about the people that they work with; they are super caring as well. I would say it’s smaller, so there are fewer residents.

Emeritus at Oswego Spring was the facility where my mom was at before she passed away. We chose this place because it's convenient to where I live so it's easy for me to get to. The people who worked there were all very friendly and kind and went out of their way to make us comfortable. I really like the people who worked there a lot. The rooms are very nice. Our room was spacious and you could choose different sizes. Their dining room is very nice looking and it’s comfortable. They serve variety of food and seemed like good cooking.

I was impressed with Emeritus at Oswego Springs. The rooms were lovely and the staff was pretty friendly. They had a couple of different eating areas and they appeared to have a lot of activities available.

We choose Emeritus for our parents because they have a very nice facility. We are probably only about four to five miles away from that facility. All the people working there that we meet are very friendly. It is close to us. Also, the room is very large and that is good for us. They have a spa, a beauty shop and I believe they do have a lot of activities.

Oswego's staff has been very helpful, friendly and accommodating. I got my mom a studio apartment. It's a one-bedroom, kitchen facility without a stove, which is okay because my mom can't cook anyway. The food is very good. I put my mother in a palace comparatively. The atmosphere there is very pleasant. It feels like home. The facility is an easy location for me. I would recommend it to others. I would go there if need be.

My father stayed in Oswego Springs for almost nine months. I would have never believed he made it as long as he did, because he is a very difficult person to live with. To the credit of the staff, they were amazingly tolerant and forgiving when my father was obstinate and negative. The facility was going through a change of ownership during this time which had me worried unnecessarily about the stability of the company. I personally found the staff to be likeable and pleasant. Because we were not paying a lot of money I didn't expect the services and amenities to be above average. In the apartment, the refrigerator didn't close properly and the air conditioner was hard to control when we moved in and had to be repaired (which took months). In the dining room the food wasn't very good--especially dinner. But the decor is nice and the facility is clean and safe and in a great neighborhood. Parking is limited and can be a challenge. They offer some fun activities and donuts right before dinner (?) They also have a happy hour with adult beverages and over the holidays I saw the 'Springs become quite festive with caroling and parties. They have a big screen TV and a beautiful grand piano. Oswego Springs did a great job of taking care of my father for the short time he was there. I give the staff an A, the facilities a B, and the food a C.
