One thing that I liked about Vick Street Manor was when I talked to one of the residents there. She was very kind and very informative. One thing I didn't like was that it is an old property and it shows wear and tear after years of use. It was kind of expected, but when I saw it, it just made me realize that it was an older property. It would have been nice if the facility was able to update its appearance. Things like a fresh coat of paint or maybe a new flooring. The place itself didn't have any foul odor, but if they could just update little things, cosmetic things, they could probably present it as a cleaner place. The room I saw was very well-kept. It was nice that it had its own private shower and bath and toilet. Those are very positive things, that there wasn't a communal bathroom and they had their own personal shower and toilet seat. It was also spacious. The unit I saw was a private room. They allow smoking outside. So, that was nice, because the person I'm looking for is a smoker.

The best thing we liked about Vick Street Manor was the overall feel of the place. It was very personable and family-oriented. The staff members seemed caring and competent. The facility is older, but it's very adequate. There was a courtyard, a dining area, and an activity room.

We chose Vick Street Manor for my mother. They were the first one that had an available bed that took her insurance. They are easy to get a hold of when you call them. You don't actually talk to someone; it's really like an automatic thing. They call you back when they tell you that they're going to call you back. They just don't forget about you. The thing that I dislike the most is that it didn't seem super clean. It is memory care. I know a lot of patients there. I feel like they do what they can, with what they have. When I was touring with the lady, everyone was very interested in the patients. It was like they actually care for them. You can tell that they just don't ignore them. We just did a quick tour of the wing that my mother would be staying at. We met some of the staff and saw a model room. They had an arts and crafts room. I think they do bingo. The rooms have their own screened-in patio, like a little back porch. It's small, but it's nice. They have a big open room with big windows and stuff that let a lot of sunlight in. I only toured the memory care wing. What we saw was a model room. Once a patient comes in, they can decorate, hang stuff, and do what they want. It's just a single bed, dresser, and mini fridge. It was a pretty decent size room. It was about the size of a master bedroom, but just a single bed in it, no full bathroom, and easy access into the shower. The building is from the seventies. I know it's not a new building, so they can only do so much. I care more about how they care for my mom and the patients. It seems like it would be a five-star place. The staff were all very attentive. They said hi to everyone. They did not ignore them or brush them off. The building itself is old, and it's not updated. When we toured the wing, there was someone mopping the floor. There was just a lot of fingerprints and hand marks on the wall. You can see people are constantly touching the walls and stuff like that.

The only thing I liked about Vick Street Manor was the person who greeted us. Other than that, it was not clean. There was some urine scent. I even peeked in the kitchen and it was dirty, as well as the halls and the bedrooms. They got no nurse on call. It was just not a good place. The only thing they did was just very basic activities. There’s really nothing for her to do there, she would just sit and vegetate.

I did a tour of Vick Street Manor. They are wonderful, the place is totally clean. The residents move about, and they don't look like zombies. I would recommend that place. It smells clean and looks clean. I only talked with one person there, but I did get a tour. The rooms are spacious, and they do have balconies and or porches on some of them. So, the residents can go outside or open them up without being able to wander off because they are enclosed. The staff who gave me the tour was very helpful. She answered every question that I had about both sides of their facility. They also have memory care, and they age in place. If mom needs to go from assisted to memory care, that would be done within the facility. So, she was very informative and very nice. They have different levels of care, and the part I saw the most was memory care. My mother has dementia, but as long as she is medicated, she doesn't need much care. They have a big entryway with a couch down. The apartments are more like studios. The ones that I looked at there were just all 1-room, but they all had their own bathroom. They did have small refrigerators in the rooms, too. The staff who gave me the tour, I would rate her a 6 if I could; I love that girl, and she's great. The facility was accessible by walking around. It would be easy for the residents to find the places they needed to go to from their rooms.

Vick Street Manor was nice and a small place. They only have 50 people right now. It's just quiet, there's not a lot going on. The tour I did of their assisted and memory care was wonderful and the director was very nice. She was a great person. The rooms were nice with separate bathrooms and a living room area. Some rooms even have a balcony or a screened-in porch. They were nice. They had 2 different places for dining. One was for wheelchair people and then there was another dining room for people who were in walkers and things like that. There were two separate areas and it was nice. They do happy hour Fridays, movies on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they have a game day on Wednesdays. They do a lot of stuff there. The director's been there for 15 years. She was very on top of her game and was very nice. The upkeep looks great too. I didn't find anything wrong with anything, everything looked good.
