The Waterford at Woodbridge

I visited this facility for my grandmother who will soon be unable to live on her own. This assisted living home exceeded all of my expectations. The apartment like living style was very appealing to me. Residents could have their own living quarters that seemed more like a home and not a facility. This was a very important characteristic that I was looking for when considering a place for my grandmother. I didn't want her to feel institutionalized. This facility allowed privacy to the residents and offered lots of daytime activities as well. I was also impressed by the family style dining that was offered during meals. A large dining area where all the residents could eat together if they choose. The staff were beyond amazing and were available to answer any all all questions that I had. This facility rates a 10 on my scale so far.

Overall the facility was very nice. It was very clean and nice and quiet. The security was very sound. They had a beautiful courtyard for the residents and a game room. There are always visitors from the High School across the highway which is how I came to discover just how nice it was. Many residents had small cats or dogs which were always a huge hit in the game room or the hallways. Every resident has their own kitchen, bathroom, living room and of course bedroom. I would have liked to have seen more for the residents to actually do though. The game room is very plain and has the usual jigsaw puzzles and board games but I think they could have done more with it. Of course they all love the weekly bingo game and trip from the students. I think a music room would be the perfect addition for the establishment.

From the moment you walk in the door you have a feeling of home. The staff greets you with a smile and you feel like they are old friends. The facility is gorgeous and the grounds are well groomed very well maintained. The dining hall and commons are cozy and the planned activities and events are daily. There is Bingo, Bridge,Socials, Movies, Chess and arts and crafts.The menu is well planned with healthy options and choices. The residents said the food is amazing. They keep the residents engaged and busy as not to become lonely and isolated. There are staff who are specific to making sure your loved one is out and about and not in their rooms for days alone and not active. They are an excellent facility and know what they are doing. I was impressed with the genuine care and warmth of the staff toward the residents that was a major plus for this place.
