Reflection Bay Assisted Living

Reflection Bay offers one of the best memory care units I have seen. The staff working with the memory care residents are not only extensively qualified, but they possess the personalities needed to work with this care level. They are patient, encouraging, and so loving with the residents.

The memory care unit is so appropriate for memory care residents. The layout is very secure and easy to follow, so the residents can wander around the unit and have a sense of independence and freedom without becoming lost or unaware of their surroundings. There are items around the unit which act as visual cues for the residents so they are also able to use these items as a way to navigate as well.

The residents' rooms also allow for some privacy for bathing, etc. so they are able to hold on to some dignity and the staff are very good about making sure the residents feel comfortable.

The activities offered are very memory care appropriate. They help to stimulate the minds and memories of the residents, and they also have many types of therapies available to them, such as pet therapy which works wonders in memory care.

The residents are able to help out in different ways around the unit which really helps them to feel important and needed. It helps their self-confidence and it helps them to feel like they can still accomplish tasks. So whether it is folding napkins for mealtime, helping with activities, helping another resident, etc. It can be the most simple, menial task, but it can mean the world to a memory care resident.

I have spoke with many family members and they all say that through the activities, therapies, and proper care that they have seen their loved ones thrive. They have seen many more moments of lucidity and they could have not asked for more then that. One daughter told me to walk in to the unit two visits in a row and to have her dad recognize her and call out her name, means more to her than anything else. She said that he is eating better, becoming more social and more confident. She said that she wished she would have moved her father here much sooner, but she is so thankful that he is here now.
