East Whitton Manor Care Center

My visit to this facility went quite well. Since it is a micro-community with I believe less than 30 residents, the staff-resident ratio is just about perfect. The staff seem to care about the residents very much and show this through provided them with quick, friendly, and thorough assistance. The interaction between the staff and the residents is very sincere and unguarded. Several residents whom I spoke with during my visit told me that they feel like they can tell the staff anything, they said that no matter their issue they know that they can approach the staff and the staff in turn will assist them in every way possible. They said the staff are the most thoughtful and selfless people they know and they are very meticulous about and devoted to resident care. One of the residents told me that one day she just having one of those days where everything that can go wrong, does. She said that during lunch one of the staff members noticed that something was just not quite right with her, and the staff member came up to her and asked her how she was. The resident told me that she was so thankful that the staff member was there and willing to listen to her, she said she actually felt better just being able to vent about everything. When she was done telling the staff member all about her chaotic day, the staff member asked her if there was anything they could do for her. The resident told the staff member they had already done enough just by listening, and ended the conversation with a hug. The resident told me that they can always count on every member of the staff to not only assist them with daily needs and tasks but to also be there to cheer them and celebrate with them during the good times as well as to offer support and a listening ear during the not-so-good times. The facility is always very clean and everything seems very resident-friendly and easily accessible. There are many fun and stimulating scheduled daily activities for the residents to join in as well as exciting outings, events, parties, and entertainment. The residents love being a part of the East Whitton Manor family and always say that it's the best place for them to be. If I had any complaints about the facility, it would be the location. While East Whitton Manor's a great facility and the residents feel safe while inside the grounds, the area they are located in is a bit rough. However, in spite of the location, I know that the staff go out of their way to not only help the residents to feel safe, but also to ensure that they ARE safe. They have many plans and precautions to prevent any danger to the residents as well as how to react in the face of an unsafe situation. I think that caregivers should take a tour of East Whitton Manor and determine for themselves whether or not they would feel safe with their loved ones living in this facility.
