Atria Penfield

Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous communities, oh my gosh - every time I visit I have a hard time leaving! I could totally see myself living in this community - if only I were of age... I always say that maybe I should just get a job here than at least I would have an excuse to visit more than every 2 to 4 months! Just kidding - I really wouldn't get a job here BUT it is that beautiful of a community. The residents just LOVE living here, they are always telling me about something funny another resident did or a new joke a staff told them or about some new activty taking place in the community and so on. The residents all seem to live very well together - they are all very good, good friends, very supportive and caring of each other. It's nice that they are so close because that means that each resident not only has the staff members to go to, but they also have 100+ residents to turn to for support, advice, or just if they need a friend to talk with. They all have a great time together, there are so many activities, events, and so much more to keep them healthy and active. The staff really encourage social and active lifestyles and that's precisely the type of lifestyle that most of the residents enjoy living. Aside from having a Activity Director who is amazing and is always introducing the residents to new experiences, opportunities, and programs, The residents are also able to start up their own special-interest clubs and groups among the residents. They can start a book club or gardening club or golf club or cooking club - whatever they choose, I am sure there will be residents to join. The ladies also have a "Red Hat Society" in this community! Which many of the female residents love being a part of. For those who are unfamiliar with the "Red Hat Society", it is a social club, which is available in MANY of Atria's communities, for ladies over a certain age, I believe 50 or 55, and they get together and have fun doing a variety of activities and social events. They have tea parties, they go to lunch, they go to museums and theaters and such, they have parties and all sorts of fun celebrations and they do ALL of these things while wearing their Red Hats and Purple Clothing. I am sure many of you have seen pictures of these groups of ladies before - they have been around for a very long time now. Anyways, this is one of the things that I just love about Atria, they think of events, and groups, and activities like that all really bring the residents together so that they are really able to connect and get to know each other while having fun. Some Atria communities also offer a Men's Club, but if one doesn't you can always start one up!

The building is, again, SO beautiful inside and out. The facility is very spacious but still easy to get from area to area without having to walk for miles. There are many common areas so residents and families and friends are usually able to find a private place to socialize within the community fairly easily. There are many sitting areas throughout, which is very smart, if a resident is walking and becomes tired or dizzy or weak there is usually a chair or bench close by for them to rest. More and more communities are doing this - especially the larger ones, it's important- I mean unless they want the residents sitting on the floor to rest or falling because there's no place to rest. All Atria communities that I have been in have these sitting areas throughout the community, inside and outside.

The residents have many options and choices, there are different living choices - all of the apartments are great, very well designed. There are options relating to care, lifestyle choices, choices in activities and opportunities, there are dining options and so much more. The residents know that they still have a say and control over their lives because of having all of these choices which is so important. Also pets are welcome to live here and that is an option all pet lovers who are moving in to senior living look for in a community.

I just really like pretty much everything about Atria at Penfield, I think if there were anything that I would change about it would be that I am not able to visit more frequently. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. If a person were going to adjust easily to any community - it would be this community.
