I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was at Life Care Center Of Palm Bay. He was there for three and a half months. It's beautiful. The outside and the inside were well-kept. My husband was in a private room, which was perfect. Then he went to the hospital, and when he came back, they were so busy and they had so many patients, he had to go in a room with another patient, but it worked out okay. My husband was in physical therapy every morning. He was in OT during the day. The dining room was wonderful. The meals that they served were perfect. And because he's on a special kind of high-protein diet, they did their very best to keep him on that type of a diet. The food was wonderful. I was glad to have lunch with them every day. It was very good. As for the staff, I can't say enough about them. The night crew wasn't as great as the daytime crew, but they were just so wonderful, and they were there to help. On the weekends, because a lot of times they didn't have a full staff, which made it tough, I would do everything for my husband, and they were very appreciative of anything that I did. They were wonderful with activities. They kept my husband busy. They had all kinds of programs going on during the day. When he was able to finally get in his wheelchair and get down to the activity room, he would be down there doing things. We would go out and sit in the garden, too. They had different programs come in to entertain them. They had services on Sunday for them. Insurance paid almost all of it, so we didn't have much that we had to pay out of pocket.

I visited this facility

My father was a resident of LCPB rehab center. The point of rehabilitation services is to strengthen patients so they can safely return to previous living situation, if applicable. My father was being mechanically transferred in/out of bed and stayed in the wheelchair all day. He also had multiple (new) clothing items disappear. He reported CNAs handling him too roughly as well. The staff did not even alert me when he was being discharged as I am his medical power of attorney. His goals were definitely NOT met. The discharge plans did not even write orders to continue PT once he returned to his own facility. Horrible experience!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law is in the Life Care Center of Palm Bay. I like that if there's any problem, they'll call us right away. They'll call us on the phone for him if he needs anything. They also transferred him in there from the hospital when he was ready for rehab. Since we visit so much as they know us when we come in, they'll know that we're with him and they'll tell us if there is any concern or anything, so it is kind of good. The staff is really good. It seems like they pay attention to the needs of the people that are there. The food is decent. There are a lot of choices of food. It's pretty good. The facility seems clean to me. You don't smell anything when you walk in. It smells and it looks like it's clean. It looks fine. They have activities but he hasn't participated in any.

I am/was a resident of this facility

As a visitor from the outside, the "facade" seems like a very nice, well kept facility. Very clean rooms, spacious dining areas, clean hallways. Being an in-patient / resident of this facility is indeed quite the different story. I recently had the "pleasure" (?) of being a temporary patient in the rehab section of this facility. The DAY shift is a very courteous, caring, knowledgeable and efficient staff. The Night shift staff is an entirely different situation. The *night-shift is a deplorable, ineffective, incompetent, bunch of bumbling bufoons! The night shift is a cross between the Three Stooges and the Keystone Cops...a virtual 3 ring circus! From my very first day in this facility, they dropped the ball on my medications. I gave my first day the benefit of a doubt expecting "hiccups" in my meds until the facility and pharmacy got it's act together, however the "blunders" with medications carried on throughout my entire 10 day stay and only got worse! The staff would either bring my meds hours late, hours early, half the required dosage, double the required dosage, or the completely wrong meds altogether! Thank God I had the mental alertness to oversee my own meds or the place could have just as easily killed me! Calling the nurses station could take anywhere from 15 minutes to 1-1/2 hours for a response or sometimes no response at all! Thank God I didn't have an honest emergency..I'd be dead for hours..."literally"!! I had to literally walk up to the nurses station on several occasions just to get any attention for my meds. I well remember on several occasions, walking up to the nurses station to witness several nurses and cna's hanging around socializing (like a clubhouse) while several patients room call alert lights were lit like the 4th of July for probably several minutes..if not hours....they were totally ignored as were my own calls for the most part. Most of the night staff speak broken English (at best) and are totally complacent. Communications between staff is all but null and void. I would ask for one of my meds and the cna would completely forget me or 1/2 hr. later another cna would show up with the wrong med or wrong dosage or none at all! Quite frankly, these people "scared me to death"! I could not even fathom being a long term care patient in this facility! I went into this facility from 2 weeks in the local hospital as a short-term rehab patient. This was my first time in a rehab facility. I went in with a good and positive attitude and showed respect for all people I had contact with. After a couple days I realized just what I was up against and became seriously worried about my own well being. it was indeed VERY, VERY SCARY!!!! I'm not one to typically take the time to write reviews, but under the circumstances I felt compelled to write this review. I also formerly voiced my concerns to the management. **As I already stated, the "day" shift was fine, but the "night-shift" is a 3 ring circus of bumbling, incompetent bufoons whom I wouldn't entrust the life of a dog! *If they haven't had a wrongful death lawsuit..it's only the matter of when (not if) -----"FACTS"!!!

My mom is in this facility. She too has Alzheimer's. She has misplaced items that I've found stuffed in her night stand or her dresser. She love this facility. I can say the staff that I've met are really nice and courteous and they really take good care of my mom.. I have visited other facilities and this one exceeds any of the other facilities that I've seen in Indian River county.

My mother has been at this facility many times and we have always been happy. This time has been a nightmare. They are very short staffed and don't even leave a message because no one will get back to you. The discharge people are rude and disorganised. Please find another facility for your loved one

As elegant as it appears, it's a nightmare behind the closed doors of the Dementia/Alzheimer's ward. There are no cameras that I am aware of and the patients are left confined to wheelchairs with beepers. I've seen as many as three patients in one day require ambulance removal, due to falls. Personal items missing such as false teeth, etc. and urine soaked seats the guests are unaware of when they come to visit and left to sit in. I was totally shocked at the lack of care and concern the staff seems to display. I'd give this ward a minus, not a plus. The place as a whole, well it looks lovely from the front desk inside.

This place has a lot of hype, it's a beautiful facility. However the nurses are severally understaffed and my father is unable to walk very well and can't get in and out of his bed without assistance. And he has alhemizers. The nurse that seems to be around more is very old and gets very frustrated with him easily. I'm very disappointed in this facility it takes way too long for assistance. My father also had a fall while he was here because he couldn't wait any longer for the bathroom.

Life Care Center of Palm Bay was excellent. My dad was in a private room. The thing he liked the most was bingo. The food was mediocre.

Short-staffed to save money. The first Wednesday of every month the Chamber of Commerce takes over the facility so forget about service for your loved one. Extremely clean though.

My father was at this facility, he was well taken care of by the nurses; however, they were under staffed but always pleasant. The doctor of the facility wouldn't return my phone calls pertaining to my father's health and the Administrator said she didn't get my messages from the front desk (all 4). The money aspect was far more important than the health of my father or that it would seem that way. I wouldn't recommend this facility long term. I'm not sure when we stopped caring for people in this world but i wouldn't want to stay at this facility long term.

I visited this facility

I had a terrible experience with LIfe Care Center. My mom went in there after a hospital stay for physical therapy and they did pretty much nothing. She even was served her meals in bed, not in the dining room. This organization was the subject of a federal law suit alleging billions of dollars in over billing to Medicare. Their mission was to keep patients as long as possible, even past any obvious therapy, just to bill Medicare more money.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Staff is under qualified; many non -English speaking. No plan of care . No accountability. My relative did not receive medications for days due to In house attending failure to document orders. Then they ran out of pain medication and had to get from pharmacy when it opened next day. Missed a scheduled post op doctor visit and no one even noticed until family told administration a week later. Supposed to have phone but did not. Was placed in wrong unit in bed with seriously worn out mattress. Food trays often delivered to room missing items , too cold , meat too tough, nasty nurses, CNA answers call bell for pain meds says she will tell nurse; much time passes- call again- same thing happens. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO SEND ANYONE YOU Care About. Just ask any nurse or doctor ! Same goes for ANCHOR

We put mom at Life Care Center down Florida for two weeks. I like everything about this facility. The care was great, the place was beautiful, and the nursing staff was wonderful.
