I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandmother moved in at Morningview Village Senior Community. They have done a few things that are kind of questionable, specifically like saying they would transport her to doctor's appointments as long as they were on Tuesdays, and then they told me if they have to take her and walk her in, it's $20 an hour and we have to be there. I told them that they didn't put that in any of their paperwork. I asked them to show me where I signed for that. They said it's technically not in the paperwork, it's just additional. They didn't have anything because I didn't sign for that, otherwise, I would have looked elsewhere. I wrote Leslie, the lady there, a bunch of times, and she just stopped responding to my emails. It's been a week and she hasn't responded. I think it's very unprofessional. My grandmother has a 1-bedroom apartment. She has her own bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, and a little kitchenette with a sink and a fridge. The room is pretty, but the carpet is all stained up. Before we moved in, we had to wait for 2 weeks because they said they were going to replace the carpet. But there are still stains all over it. She is very comfortable with that place. She likes everyone there. They do activities. I get the sense that they do care, especially the people that do the day-to-day stuff. I had their food a couple of times, and it's pretty rough, but my grandmother likes it. It's like cafeteria hospital food. Their soups are good but their main meals are questionable. They post activities every week. She does crossword puzzles every day. Every two weeks, they have a Walmart trip where they go together in a van. They do crafts and bingo. They do holidays too, like a Halloween party. It's the management in the billing that I have issues with, not with the way that they treat my grandmother. It's also a beautiful facility, but it's just the added costs after I signed. They need to improve the food, and maybe do nicer things for the activities.

This is a beautiful facility with an outstanding staff and residents. My 97-year old mom has been living there for six months and loves it.

I visited this facility

The staff at Morningview Village Senior Community was very friendly, very considerate, and very helpful. The residents that we happened to see, who were out and about, were very friendly. They approached my mother and made conversation with her, and were very welcoming. It was very clean, very bright, and had appealing decorations. We were there right before Christmas and they were planning to have a Christmas tree lighting and do things to engage the residents. The cost is all-inclusive and quite reasonable. It's open to the community for anyone who wants to come and eat. My sister has eaten there on more than one occasion and she said the food is excellent. They also provide transportation if the residents need to go to appointments and my mother had a choice of a studio or a one-bedroom with a living space apartment. The bathroom and the bedroom were excellent. Although the living space was in a separate area, I just thought it was a little bit small, but overall, it was a very positive tour experience.

My brother has moved into Morningview Village. It's nice, it's beautiful, and everybody's very nice. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks, games, and things for everybody to do. Everybody's very friendly. Breakfast is 7:30 to 9:00, lunch is 11:30 to 1:00 and dinner is 4:30 to 6:00. Value for money is good. He's doing OK there. They do bingo as well.

After a month long illness that resulted in a week's stay at BMH, his doctors felt my Dad needed to go to a transitional care facility to regain his strength. We chose Morningview. During his stay, the staff treated him and his family..like family. Their concern for him complimented our own. And during his stay, they educated me, as primary care giver, on ways to improve my care regiment. Very few delays or problems, and they were addressed promptly. Perfect? Of course not, but what facility is? But they were, in my eyes, very professional. And Dad was as comfortable as he could be there. I highly recommend this facility.

Like others, I feel they are understaffed most of the time. One time they took my 92 yr old mom by ambulance to the hospital for x-rays at 11:30pm and it snowing! Several nurses said she needed a waffle cushion because of a skin tear on her tail bone. She NEVER got one. First time they released her, she still had pneumonia in one lung, but Medicare only pays for 21 days. Within 4 days, she was back in the hospital with double pneumonia. Now she is back in Morning View and the care is no better. The nurses will absolutely not do anything unless they have an 'order' in the computer. I understand the facility needs to get paid for services, but getting 'orders' is close to impossible at best. Sometimes they said they would put it in the computer and it never happens. If it wasn't for me and my siblings being with our mom almost 24/7, I seriously doubt my mom would still be alive.

My mother was at Morning View to recover from heart valve replacement surgery. Much to my surprise ten days after being admitted we were told she would be discharged. Her heart surgeon had said she should stay at least 30-days. The staff led her to believe that she could live independently--all because she could walk 500 steps and open a pull-top can of soup. What's confusing is she was at Morning View 30+ days with her knee surgery. When I asked about that, I was told knee surgery was much more complex and required more time to heal than open heart surgery (that makes no sense to me). When I talked with the social worker, she told me that I should care for her myself because now was the family's time to care for mom. I have no training as a healthcare provider or care giver. We appealed and lost. She is at my home and we are struggling to give her the care she deserves.

Morning View Village is very nice. The assisted living facility itself is very nice. The staff is very nice too. They have nice activities, they go on trips, and they have a very good menu.

The facilities were nice but I felt staff was lazy and not managed well. While relative was needing assistance help was late and said they were under staffed. Then was unsure how to get relative up and to the restroom. Staff is also always standing in groups talking and laughing. I feel staff is young and need more guidance and training

I visited this facility

Morningivew Village is good and it was pretty much the same as the one we looked at, except the memory care was more locked down. It looked more institutional, but the staff seemed very knowledgeable and very nice. I did not have lunch with them, but they did offer. The residents were sitting and watching TV and they weren’t very alert to their surroundings. I did not like the dining area for memory care because there were only little small tables and for me, that part felt really institutional. The facility is near a hospital and Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center -- it’s all connected. The place is absolutely beautiful, but after I visited I feel like the other facility is a lot better.

They provided us very good information at Morningview Village about the facility and what they do there. The staff is really courteous. They do physical therapy and take him out once a month for a drive through the community.

Morningview is assisted living but they also offer a separate rehab. My mom is a resident in their assisted living. We looked at other facilities, and out of all of them, we felt that this one suited my mom's needs the best. Unlike the other facility wherein they charge per service, with this one, it's all included in the price. The facility is nice inside. It also smells good. The community rooms are lovely and comfortable. There's a lot of natural light in their rooms and I thought that was nice. Some of other places we visited didn't have much natural light coming in. The staff is very caring. They have quite a few activities going on there. They have exercise class three days a week, church activities, performance group coming in and they have bingo.

My Grandmother suffers from dementia, and spent a significant amount of time at Morning View Village Assisted Living. I found the overall environment at this facility to be warm and inviting. There was a greenhouse area inside the facility which really brightened up the atmosphere inside. My Grandmother seemed very comfortable here. She had a room private room that was always very clean and orderly when the family came to visit. When I visited the facility, I found that all the nurses there were very attentive to my Grandmother's needs and understanding of her condition. They were of great help to the family in coping with her deteriorating condition by providing us with as much information as possible, and keeping us up to date on her progress, eating habits, medication regimen, etc, when no one was around. They also made sure that she participated in daily activities like listening to music and eating in the great room with other patients, which was very important to me. Overall, the staff here was awesome and was well trained all the way around.
