Vitality Living Shadow Hills was very interesting and very nice. I liked the location; it was nice. It was in an area that I like. The apartments were very nice. They were good. The nice thing is that they also included a garage, which was nice. The apartment comes with a refrigerator, a stove, a dishwasher, and all that stuff. I was very impressed. They seemed to take good care of the place physically, which is nice. That lady was very nice. She took me around, showed me everything, and answered any questions I had.

Vitality Living Shadow Hills was wonderful. It's where I was looking to move my parents because I was impressed with that place. It was very quaint like a colonial type of place. I fell in love with it. I liked the fact that it was done on an octagon level, so everything came around back to the main area. When you first walked in, it was the dining room after you passed the offices and everything. The apartments were a little small, so that was going to be a concern of mine, but this was something that I was originally trying to research for the future. The staff was wonderful. They were incredible. They invited us for lunch and their food was amazing as well. The place was beautiful in a different setting. They were all very, very nice to us. We got to meet the activities director, and they have quite a few activities over there as well. That's why I was leaning towards Vitality Living Shadow Hills.

The rooms at Vitality Living Shadow Hills were very nice. They had nice restrooms that looked like they would be easy to use, nice beds, and communal movie areas for people to get together. Robert showed me around and he was very accommodating in answering all the different questions I had about the place. Everyone looked pretty happy, too. They had groups for various things. They get together every week to play dominoes or take walks outside if they want to. They also had a salon and an exercise room with different equipment for people to use. They had quite a spacious dining area and a nice kitchen. Before we left, Robert gave us a pie to take home to my grandmother. She liked it. It was delicious.

Vitality Living Shadow Hills was very friendly, very welcoming, and bright. The residents and the staff banter each other and there were just people constantly moving around. The residents would come up to me and ask me who I was and if I was going to work there, and they got so excited. It's a small facility. I ate lunch there and the food was really good. They went way above and beyond compared to the other ones I visited. They gave me a tour of every nook and cranny of that place. The person who showed me around was excellent. They have a dining room, a game room, then they do painting, all kinds of activities, and they have outdoor spaces for them. There's tons of stuff that they have.

I visited this facility

When we went to Vitality Living Shadow Hills, we realized that it was more of dependent living accommodations, it didn't fit our needs, and so we just really didn't follow through with the rest of the tour. There's the main building and then there are four cottages. The cottages for independent living were very limited and then having to walk from the cottages over to the main building to get food and things like that was just not what we were looking for. We saw a cottage and it was very nice. As far as the rest of the amenities being in the main building, we did not get to see all of that. We saw the cottage, we saw the daily walk from the cottage to the main building to eat the three meals a day, and it just didn't suit what we were looking for, so we just kind of stopped.

Provider Response

Hi, Raul- thank you for your feedback. We greatly appreciate it.

Vitality Living Shadow Hills was small and the people were very friendly, very outgoing. The facility was spotless and it just seemed like a really good fit for where my mom is right now. All the rooms are private with private baths, which we liked. They do have assistance to help them to and from meals if they need help with showers and dressing. They have activities and they do have a church service on Sundays. Those were quite a few of the perks we thought were nice. Robert was the one who toured us and he was excellent and very informative. We ate a meal there and the staff was very friendly. The wait staff and the chef came out and brought her a pecan pie, and that was a nice little touch. The dining area was very nice and very clean too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a resident and it was excellent. They have independent cottages outdoors, and she lived in one of them, bu they also have a nursing facility for the assisted living residents. She didn't eat in the dining room, but they brought her meals to her when she was sick, and their food was good. She had her own little yard and she's responsible for that. They let her grow whatever and that was good. They had a lot of activities like crafts, church, and they went out about once a month or so. They were very active and everyone inside was participating. They also had a fall festival once a year that they did as a fundraising thing; it's a big thing for the area.

It is small, which is good. My mother requires a lot of care and they've been doing a good job with that. The food is good. There's a lot of flexibility because my father still drives, but my mother requires a two-person lift. It was the best place I could find for accommodating both of them. They have plenty of activities to do. They have trips to the mall, movies, music, and they even went to church yesterday. There are always people playing cards, doing puzzles, and watching football. Their room is always hot; the temperature control doesn't seem very good. It's an older facility, but I'm satisfied.

It was very nice. It's one of my choices when the time comes. The staff who showed me around was very knowledgeable and very courteous. I talked to one of their residents and I liked how happy they were. They had games, Scrabble, and an exercise room.

The size is appropriate and comfortable for Mom; it's long enough without being too big. The nursing and the skill and caring level of the staff is very good.

We put my mom in here. She enjoys the food, and her room and the dining area are nice and clean. Her room has plenty of room for her bed, furniture, and a chair. They said there were services that they would provide, but the charges were for each thing piece of care that we wanted, which we don't like.

I visited and there wasn't anything wrong with it. It was nice, except the facility offered was more of a cottage and outside of the main area, so you have to walk across the parking lot to get food if you needed it and stuff like that. That's not really a problem for some, but it would have been for my aunt. The staff was very nice, though, and knew people by name. I saw their dining area, and it looked great.

My mother-in-law passed away in July, but she had stayed in here. The girls over there were great. The building was fantastic. I loved the manager. I forgot her name, but she was fantastic. She was so good. The girl that she brought in that worked with them for hospice was fantastic. They were so instrumental. They gave me so much information that I just felt really comfortable knowing that they were there. I talked to the residents there, and they were very happy with the facility. If I were in that situation, I would have been comfortable with them taking care of me. They were fantastic. They really made me feel comfortable, and that was the most important thing.

It is very good. The staff is very friendly. They treat their residents really well. It is where my mother is living right now. My mother is really liking the food. The rooms are really nice. They seem kind of small, but other than that, they are really nice. My mother says that they play different things, and it seems like they have whole calendar of activities.

It came highly recommended. It was a good price, and Dad could have a private room. It was a convenient location for my sister. The room is nice with his own bathroom. Some staff are amazing, and others seemed intimidating to my dad. They had different planned activities like carnival days and movie nights. The employees need to care more.

It seemed nice and clean; however, it was a larger facility. We decided that Mother needed a very much smaller ratio of nursing staff to residents. Accommodations were nice. They all have bathrooms; however, their rooms weren't large; they were enough. As far as the staff, the ones that I met were all very nice and pleasant. They seemed okay. I spoke with the cook and looked at their menu and it looked good.

I liked the family atmosphere here the best. They seemed genuine and the staff was excellent. The rooms were extremely small for two and I had both my parents there. The biggest problem that I had was that there was not a licensed personnel there at certain times. However, the experience was good.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I thought the staff was some of the nicest people I have ever been around. Once I entered the building, I was greeted instantly and they even asked if they could help me. The sleeping conditions were great, which is very important at an older age. I thought my grandmother was getting okay attention, but when I showed up I realized that she was getting exceptional attention. They staff told me that they keep everyone busy and have regular activities, which I thought was great. It is a good way to keep them busy. I also thought the other patients that were in the home were also friendly. This meant a lot to me and my grandmother because I wanted her to be around people she could get along with and socialize with. The building was easy to get around, which is also another factor that made this community center great.
