The Gold Star manors have a long history. Started in 1928 by a group of mothers who lost their sons in war, the idea was to help oyher families woho had lost their loved ones in war. The idea quickly spread and currently there are more than 10 Gold Star manors located throughout the country. As such each institution really does it's best to offer top-notch service and care to their clients. At the Long Beach Gold Star manor, the staff is especially friendly and helpful. There is an enormous lawn on which the residents are free to roam around, play a game of chess, maybe even a little game of soccer if they're feeling adventurous. And the dining halls, don't get me started! The food is cooked by an amazing staff. Some residents have told me they feel like they're eating in a 5-star restaurant. In addition to this, games are usually held in the manor's hall as well as featuring dances and other festivities for the residents.

Gold Star Manor has to be one of the best Senior Homes I've ever had the opportunity of getting to know. With the purpose of providing a home to families of those who have served in the war, Gold Star Manor is a truly special home. Its beautiful, lush, green lawn area provides the perfect retreat for those looking for a little peace and quite. And for those looking for a bit of a fun time there is a hall that is often used for activities such as dancing, bingo, and even choir performances from the nearby high school. The staff is great and couldn't be more kind and loving. Gold Star Manor is really a perfect place for any senior citizen.
