My grandfather was at Evergreen Place - Brockport, NY. They let him escape from the locked facility, and he made it outside and fell and hit his head and had to go to the hospital. That place is horrendous. I don't know if it's understaffed or they just don't hire anyone that cares. That is not a good place for someone with memory care issues and that's going to want to try to leave. I like nothing about it. They don't pay attention to their patients. He was there for three weeks because they kept sending him back to the hospital.

Evergreen Place - Brockport, NY was very nice, very clean, and bright. The girl who gave us our tour was very helpful and gave us a lot of information to consider. She walked us through the whole facility. The rooms she showed us were very nice and very clean, and they were all private and very spacious. They had quite a library of books, and they had a game room with a pool table.

My friend is presently at Evergreen Place. She seems to be thriving, so we will just let that be. She has been there for a year now. I like their dedicated staff. Very low-key, very accommodating, and very caring. One of the things that my friend loves to do is to go out for a short run. She's going to be 84 in a couple of days, so she's not doing any three-minute miles, but she goes out and runs around the perimeter. There is a little area there and there's a big pond in the back. So, nature is a big feature. There are geese and ducks, and then in the spring, there are ducklings and goslings. It's a beautiful pond, so she would go around there and see the ducks and go for her little walks or runs or whatever she chose to do. So that was very comfortable. My friend's room is medium size. It is just a studio, but it has a refrigerator, a sink and a microwave, and her own bath and shower. She can shower and use the bathroom by herself, so that's nice. Then there is a living area with comfortable chairs, a desk, a couple of bureaus for her clothes, a couple of closets, and closet storage for hanging. I have my reservations about Evergreen Place, but I think they're trying. For example, in the memory unit, they're looking for someone to be the director of that unit, so it's just run by the staff now, and that would be not so good. They try to do a good job, but I think they are limited in the activities they provide. The staff are dedicated. They seem to like their work, they seem to be devoted to the patients, and they are qualified. In terms of the facilities, it has just been redone. All the carpet has been taken out and replaced by wood floors. It's very clean, and they do a very good job. I have tried their food. It's good. It's basic. They have a chef who does the food for both memory care and the regular units. According to my friend, the food is good. She likes it. However, they don't have a lot of activities. They are working on that. They have an activities director for the main section. My friend is mainly interested in getting out and walking or jogging. She doesn't even watch TV shows in her room, so she is fine, but some people, they might want more activities. With regards to value for money, I think that they're fair in the prices that they charge for what they do, and then they have an adjusting scale for extra care.

I went to Evergreen Place - Brockport, NY last month. I like the fact that the residents seemed actively involved, cause they were out of their rooms, either in the general living area watching TV, or they were playing a game of bingo, they were getting up a large screen set up for some kind of online games. They seemed to try to cater to people with memory difficulties such as Parkinson's, which is what my husband has. I just like the way that the residents were actively involved in activities. It was all on one floor which I liked, they were getting some renovations done, so they were replacing flooring. The rooms were a little bit smaller than some I'd seen in other places but adequate, I guess. It had an older look to it. The tour guide was very good.

Evergreen Place (Brockport) is a very clean place, the people are very friendly, and if you have any questions, they answer you right away. My friend says their food is very good too. She's doing physical therapy and occupational therapy right now. The place is very clean and there are no smells, that's very important. Her room is the perfect size for an elderly person. The location is in a college town and there's shopping nearby.

It appeared nice. The staff during the visit was very helpful, very forthcoming, and very nice. The apartments were good sized, and the residents get to do whatever they want with them and make it their home. The dining area was very pretty and had a formal side to it, but it's inviting and looked comfortable, and the setup was good. There was one room where people were playing bingo, and there were people sitting in a lobby type area.
