I visited this facility

We visited the independent side at Brentwood Retirement Community, but they explained the assisted living side as well. The community was quiet. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The studio apartment wasn't bad. It had a little kitchenette, a little stovetop and a screened-in patio, so it was nice. The food was really good. The activity area was nice and open. The dining room had plenty of seats. It was a really nice place. They had a salon, a little store in there, a library, and transportation to stores. The facility was older, but they seemed to be in decent shape. If anything was wrong, you had to call the maintenance people. They seemed to be pretty decent at coming to fix stuff.

I went to the Brentwood Retirement Community. It's an older place and to me, it wasn't very attractive. The tour was nice, the size of the rooms and all that was nice, but I just didn't like the overall appearance. I didn't like the appearance of the place. You couldn't cook there. The room sizewise was ok, but they weren't very attractive. They had a pool. I don't think they have a kitchen, I think they had a kitchenette. I only met two ladies that took me around the tour, and they were very nice. Price-wise, it was great.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Brentwood Retirement Community has private apartments, so my friend has privacy there. The price was in her price range. The food is awful, she hates it and that's the most negative thing about it. For breakfast, they send oatmeal every morning but it's like a gel block, it's terrible. Everything else about the facility seems to be in order. My friend will probably be moving out because she doesn't have access to her own food and their food is not edible. She's paying $3200 a month and one of the reasons why she liked it there was that her food was included. But she's buying her own food anyway. She likes the fact that there's somebody there to help her with her meds and things like that, but she needs to be comfortable where she's at. They have a Brentwood nursing facility beside the assisted living.

The place is rundown, has trees growing out the roof. Needs pressure washing. Needs painting. Roaches and ants in home. Amenities are not there as stated on website. Food ok. Nursing staff is not friendly and can not be reached during night. No one is really interested in changing things. Do not put your loved one there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The Brentwood Story Good afternoon, my name is Mary S. I am a retired educator in poor health, who is latent-deaf. Inspite of these challenging circumstances, I am grateful to be a resident of Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility in Lecanto, Florida. Why am I grateful?I am delighted to answer this question with several examples in straightforward, honest details. My analysis of Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility is not without bias. But it will be completely accurate, fair and honest. Two years ago I was recovering from a car accident, at Oak Hill Hospital. I had been homeless for months and living in my car. I had only some clothes and a car that was totaled. The hospital was reluctant to discharge me without a safe place to go. They sent out an SOS message to all health care and retirement communities within a 100 mile radius. The message asked if anyone or any place was willing and able to help a 70 year old hospital patient who needed safe affordable housing. Of all the many communities and facilities that received this request for help, guess how many responded? Only one. Only Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility along with the Brentwood Health and Retirement Center answered this call for help. Crystal, the Care Liaison at Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility together with Sue, the admissions director of the health care and rehabilitation center at Brentwood came to the hospital to talk with me. They came to help, they were the answer to my prayers. They offered me time and the opportunity to receive the therapy vital to my recovery. Crystal had a small studio apartment in the retirement community that was affordable and would be available as soon as I was discharged from the rehab center. Their generous assistance gave me a new life, filled me with hope instead of despair, joy instead of tears, a home that was safe and secure, instead of the uncertain dangers of homelessness. Crystal received support and approval to furnish my little apartment with furniture, bedding and linens that I did not have. My new residential neighbors gave me dishes, bowls, glassware and silverware that I needed. I sincerely appreciate the many kindnesses that were bestowed on me. I lost the health insurance I previously had when I moved to Citrus county. It would take time to re-establish healthcare benefits under a new policy. I required medicine, tests to monitor the status of my health immediately. Allen C., the Executive Director of the entire Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility was instrumental in arranging for my immediate health care needs to be covered until my new and permanent health plan became effective. Allen also applied for a drug discount card, on my behalf, to curtail the costs of my medicines. What I hope you readers recognize from my detailed examples, is that the defining and distinguishing features of Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility are the remarkable people who work here. This community and the people who care for us residents are the benchmark standard of excellence. You may be thinking that other communities and facilities have caring administrators and directors as well. In all truthfulness, I don’t know for sure; I would think they should and probably do I can tell you truthfully that the cost of living at these other places is much higher than the cost of living here at Brentwood. The plush décor, the new and fancy transportation vehicles and the gourmet meals they provide are very expensive. For me they are unnecessary and overrated. For me, luxury, glitz and glamour are just a showy display that does not enhance the quality of care, enrich, promote, or extend my life in any way at all. Healthy nutritious meals, a warm and homey atmosphere is far more beneficial than any superficial furnishings will ever be. To what extent or degree these other places and people provide generous and unselfish care, I am not sure. But I can attest unequivocally to these irrefutable facts. Rosalie G., Deb T., Diana L., Dionne and Vicki, Mark N., Cheryl N. and Brandon M. are endowed with abundant characteristics such as humanitarianism, patience, dedication and love. There are countless others that you will meet when you come for a visit and hopefully decide this is the best place to live. These hardworking individuals lavish attention, concern, time and effort on every resident, whenever and wherever the need arises. Brentwood is the epitome of quality health care, inspiring and life enhancing services as well as selfless resident-focused care that insures a safe and healthy environment at a reasonable and affordable cost for everyone. Brentwood is the complete and total living package. This complete and balanced arrangement is meticulously maintained by the men and women who work diligently for the welfare and wellbeing of all the residents. During this Covid 19 pandemic, we have had all our meals nutritionally and safely prepared and hand delivered to us daily, without additional costs to the residents. The extra effort is displayed with joy and smiles to boost our spirits. Crystal P. and Elise G. deliver loving hugs and thoughts through cards and gifts of simple goodies to all the residents. These procedures are established to maintain the highest levels of health and safety during this crisis. Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility is the ultimate loving environment and the special place we call home. This is my genuine, precise and true analysis, with just and fair commentary , which is the result of personal experiences and personal knowledge. Thank you for taking the time to read the Brentwood Story.

I visited this facility

The food we had at Brentwood Retirement Community was excellent. The apartments were great. It was gorgeous inside and clean. The staff member was great, but it's too close to the highway. If you need a retirement center and you're going to go in and out of it, you can drive. It would be a nice place to go. The residents have their own rooms. They offer activities. The staff was excellent, very polite, and very nice. They treat everybody really good.

I'm moving to Brentwood Retirement Community. I have a 1-bedroom unit. I have a scooter to get to the dining room and other facilities. The staff was very pleasant and good. I went to two or three luncheons. One meal I didn't care for, but the rest I did. They have specials each day and the menu items that you can choose from alternate. They have a swimming pool, they give you a calendar of activities every month, and you can pick and choose from those.

I visited this facility

We visited this facility and I would not want to live here. It is old, dirty and run down. There were cracks in the ceiling as we entered the lobby, cracks in the walls and the carpeting has seen better days. The lobby was small - it had a small sofa, and 3 leather over stuffed chairs that was for everyone in the facility to use. We toured the retirement area and the apartment that was showed to us was filthy. Both bathtubs had numerous dead bugs along with roaches. The kitchen was really small, of course you don't need a large one when you're retired. The electric stove burners needing replacing as they were sticking up in the air. The appliances needed upgrading. The living area was very small and would only accommodate a small sofa, one end table, a small table to hold a small TV and that's it. The walls had cracks and so did the ceiling. The outside grounds needed some TLC. The dining area was small considering the size of the facility. The people were friendly. I would not want to live there.

I visited this facility

We visited Brentwood today and I was not impressed. We walked in the front door to the main lobby and the walls needed painting and had numerous cracks. In the lobby the ceiling had several holes where the plaster was coming down. We took a tour and saw a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment. The outside needed painting, the inside needed painting. The walls had numerous cracks. Both bathrooms had about 10 or 12 dead roaches and numerous other dead bugs. The stove had 2 burners and both of them needed replacing. No carpeting in the apartment. The place is very old and needs a lot of "TLC". We toured the main building which was clean but needs updating and painting. The grounds are not the best and needs some care. The price is right for the size of the apartment and you get 1 meal a day. People were very friendly. It is conveniently located.

My father was a resident here for two and half years. Within that time he moved from independent to full care living. I cannot say enough about the caring staff from administration to nursing to support staff and maintenance. They were not only caring and concerned about my father, but I saw that interaction with other residents, also. No place is perfect, but I am very happy that this place was here for my father. My father was cared for with professionalism and dignity until the end.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We’ve found Brentwood Retirement Community for my mom. It’s fine. They take good care of her, and the only real complaint we have is the food as it’s just not very good. They’re very good with Mom on the whole, so we appreciate that. She has a two-bedroom wherein she has her own bedroom, closet, and a private bath. There’s a bedroom and bath on the other side, too, and they share a common living area and a kitchen. In the kitchen, they don’t cook, but she has a refrigerator and cabinets where she can keep snacks. They have crafts, entertainment sometimes, and different things. For those that want to, they have a bus that takes them to Wal-Mart and grocery stores.

I visited this facility

Brentwood Retirement Community had one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments, depending on what you want. They had a central dining room where they serve the meals and quite a few amenities for their residents. We are looking at independent, then assisted, and then heavy medical care. We talked to the manager of operations. This place is a good value for your money, but it didn't grab our attention.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live in Brentwood Retirement Community, and it's really nice. The apartments are big, and I'm living independently. There's also assisted-living, and a rehab center here. The common dining area is good. It's big, homey, and restaurant style. They have bingo three days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. They go on shopping trips, to doctors, and dinners occasionally. They have nice trees, but when it gets winter-time the acorns fall off the trees. It gets on the driveways where your car sits so you better be careful that you don't slip, and fall. They need to improve their maintenance too.

Most of the staff here at Brentwood Retirement Community is very friendly. I have the most expensive apartment in this facility, so it is the nicest. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small little kitchen, and a living-dining room. What I do not like about the place is they have very little activities. The food is average.

I am in Brentwood. It is very good and very pleasant. The food is very good. They have activities every day of the week. They have bingo, movies, they have bus that takes you shopping, and for the holidays, they have choirs singing. You name it, they have it. They have all kinds of activities. I definitely will recommend them to others

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Mom has been a resident for quite a few years. When she first went there it was acceptable and she was happy. It has been a downward spiral for the last few years. The food is terrible compared to when she first went there. The phone system to get in touch with her is joke as it indicates busy even when she is not on it. She will not consider moving. Management hides behind all sorts of legal indemnities so you have nobody to contact to complain. The local administrator is nothing more than a figure head with little power to do anything. Put your loved one(s) here at their own peril.

don't believe what they tell you . my mother has been a resident for two years . we would like to move her but have to wait on opening .the food is terrible, they are under staffed but get by with it by submitting cna's that are there but not on the floor. the most of the working people are caring people but the management is more concerned to making money. the cna's and nurses keep it going , not management. I would not recommend this place.

Mom moved to a patio apartment. Looked like a good idea to keep her independent and active while having some close by to check on her. She went quickly to the "lodge". The management team was inconsiderate and uncooperative. Several care staff were very caring people. Oxygen face tubes where left on the floor. Oxygen tanks stored near her bed. Bathroom was unkempt. Meals were served with ice water daily even when she requested no ice in her beverages. Medication.........................

Brentwood is very organized and very clean. The workers are very friendly. They take care of the people there really well. They put on nice parties for residents. My mom's very happy there. She has an apartment that has a living room, a bedroom, a little dinette, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. The food is comparable to that in a restaurant. It's very good. I really like the courtesy that the staff shows people over there. The atmosphere is really nice. I'm satisfied with what my mother gets and how they take care of her. Everything's really nice.

The facility was well kept. It is a clean building with plenty of parking. The facility itself is part of a larger retirement community which allows for frequent socialization of people who live there. It also provides for specialized nursing home care as well as assisted living so that elderly spouses at different levels of care can easily visit and spend time together and still have their needs met. The facility provides a gated entrance so that there is security in place for a safe living environment. The facility also provides transportation and other ancillary services such as home health and aides to assist in shopping and cleaning in the assisted living area. The medical care is by far the best I have seen in this area. The facility is staffed with caring doctors, nurses and aides who make life comfortable for the residents. The facility is decorated and constructed for ease of getting around and comfort. This is truly a caring community.
