Lanfair Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing Care

I thought that most of the staff was nice and cared about taking care of their patients. There was a few exceptions mainly a night nurse who would not role my grandmother to prevent bed sores. The facility was nice and was clean. The amenities were decent and my grandmother did not have any complaints about the service or food with the exception of the night nurse previously mentioned. The nursing aids were wonderful as far as I am concerned they helped anytime we needed them with no complaints. Overall, I would say the facility was good, has decent staff, the food was edible, and the care was good. My grandmother was there for almost a year and short of being bored rather often did not seem to mind being there. One more thing I will say is that they do need more activities for the individuals that are staying there. Patients are allowed to walk around but some games or something similar would be nice.

My brother had a fall and broke his hip last fall-early winter, his bones are weak due to his medication. He was living at group home but they were unable to care for him when he was immobile. He went to spend the winter and spring at Lanfair. I visited almost daily, things seemed to be clean and in order and most everyone was friendly. I did see they seemed to be very short on Nurses Aide's. One of the ones I spoke to said they don't stay very long due to low pay, long hours and injuries. I know my brother is a handful and is prone to violence so I can sympathize with the Aides. His meals were a little lack-luster overcooked veggies and lots of carbs. He would ask me to bring him salads and fruits because of the lack of them. I am assuming they are not too popular with the Seniors because of false teeth and poor digestive systems. They did do little activities with him and he watched a lot of tv. He was a bit lonely there as the other residents avoided him (they were scared of him) so he was glad to return to the group home. Overall this place wasn't too awful bad. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again for him or myself. One side note there was a "urine" smell throughout the whole place.
