My step father has been here for a year. When I moved him in, I was PROMISED that they would notify me BEFORE they had to raise his care level and rate. Twice in the last year I was surprised when I saw the debit from the account. Not only that, I can't get anybody to call me back and tell me what his current rate actually is. The say somebody will call me back, and it never happens. That seems par for the course, though. I have requested calls from his caregivers at least 10 times over the last year, and not once have they called me. That has been especially frustrating since they were not allowing visitors. I couldn't find out how he was doing. If I would have known how this place was run, I would have found a different home.

In Jan 2021, a staff member infected my father with COVID19. My father needs minimal care so I do not understand how a staff person was in his room long enough and/or unprotected enough to infect him with COVID19. How does an assisted living serving vulnerable seniors allow an infected staff member to be working in Jan 2021? They allowed a visiting nurse into the facility who brought my father, an alcoholic, liquor and when I advised staff at the Havens, they never did no investigation. I just had to buy my father a new mattress because his was soaked with urine. How does no one catch this in an assisted living facility? Most emails go unanswered until I email a second, third or fourth time. It is astounding.

We chose Antelope Valley Retirement Villa for my mom, and so far our experience has been good. It's just a small community, and she is on the second floor. She has a private room, a nice-sized room and she has a big closet and a bathroom. They also have a library, dining room and a TV room, although she also has her own TV. They're beginning to organize more activities for the residents now, like bingo and arts and crafts. They have very caring and nice staff. The administrator has been in the business for many years, she's very nice and very good with my mom and in checking in with her. She talks to my mom, and they're very caring people. Their chef was trained at a culinary college, and they asked us about what my mom likes. They try to have a diverse menu, and they're also talking about different desserts they might make. They're just starting to re-organize since they have more staff and residents now.

Brookdale Antelope Valley is a very nice community. We felt very comfortable and got nothing but positive feedbacks from the residents we talked to. Everybody greeted us at the door. They were extremely nice and courteous. I like the idea that they have a sufficient amount of activities for the residents. While doing the tour, they were bean tossing in one room, had a virtual bowling game going on in the next room, and somebody was on a piano doing a sing-a-long. The main staff was extremely helpful, caring, and sensitive to our questions. They have one full room that was very well kept and very nice; however, we were looking for a studio for my father-in-law.

My mother is in Brookdale Antelope Valley and likes it so far. The staff members were all very nice and knowledgeable. It's a pretty good place. The food that I had in the restaurant wasn't good, but we ordered other things on the menu that are better.

Brookdale (Brookdale Antelope Valley) is very clean and beautiful. It is a gorgeous place, but their cost is high. However, they're very clean and the staff is great, very accommodating, and very generous. I loved Brookdale in the beginning because I liked the activities. They have bingo night, casino night, happy hours, fmaily night, pizza night, movie night, and days where they go out. If you want to go to a restaurant, they'll take you out to an actual restaurant. The only issue that I had was the financial part, but overall, it was a beautiful community.
