I am a friend or relative of a resident
We have an elderly family who lives at Solterra now. It became difficult for family to go to her home to make sure she was taken care of and had everything she needed. She was beginning to have a harder time getting around, so she needed someone to help her with shopping and chores.Solterra is a nice facility, and offers one- and two-bedroom apartments that have everything you could want in a home but smaller, including a kitchen. Residents can choose how much to let the staff help them or not, which gives residents the freedom to be as independent as they like. They offer meals to the residents for free or extremely affordable rates. We ate with our relative on one occasion in their dining room, and although the service can be slow at times, the food was quite good!Since our family member moved in, she has become more active and social with other people, and it shows when we visit her. She has new stories to tell and things going on that she didn't used to when she lived at home alone. They have parties and events from time to time, and hold religious services for those who can't get out as easily. There is even an in-house beauty parlor! They also offer to arrange transportation for doctors visits, and make weekly trips to local shopping (although I'm sure if the need arose, they'd take someone to the store other times as well). The staff has always been very friendly to us and to our relative every time we visit (and we have been by many times). They seem to keep check of who comes and goes, and they remember the family connections. They seem to take good care of the property, and everything looks so clean in the communal areas and hallways. Whenever there is an issue, they take care of it in a timely manner, and they have good plans for evacuation in case of disaster. They check on the residents daily, just to see how they're doing. It gives us great peace of mind to know that if her heat goes out in winter, someone is on it immediately, or if something happens, someone will be there to know right away.
I visited this facility
This is a nice 3 story facility with 141 apartments. The building and grounds are well maintained. They have lots of trees, greenery and mountain views.
The one bedroom assisted living have partial kitchens. They are handicapped equipped and have a call system. Utilities and basic cable is included. They have balconies. They offer housekeeping and linen service.
They serve three restaurant style meals and snacks with daily specials in their dining room. The food is very good.
They have several common sitting areas, a library and activity room. It is a nicely decorated decor.
They do indepent, assisted, and memory care. They have a registered nurse and 2 LPNs there about 15 hours a day and on call. All caregivers are certified. They transport to doctor appointments for an extra fee. The staff seems caring and friendly.
They do all sorts of daily activities including an exercise program, bingo, entertainment, parties, cookouts, and holiday celebrations. They go out on picnics and to the lake in the summer. They go to Walmart shopping on Wednesday and out to other community events.
They have a courtyard for walking and sitting.
This is a very nice community facility,
