The tour at Daybreak Village Senior Living went very well. The lady that took me around covered everything and she was very nice, but I don't believe that's really what we need because we need more of a rehab-type situation. I toured the whole facility. All the employees were great. There were smiles all around. I also talked to some of the residents. The residents had good things to say about the place. The staff was very caring. I wouldn't give the rooms a high rating, but they're fine. They asked me if I wanted to try their food, but I did not try it. I didn't see their activities, but I was told about them. The maintenance was good except that it was kind of dowdy.

We went to a place called Daybreak Village Senior Living, and we actually thought about putting mom there. It is a small family owned place. It was nice. It was older and a bit rundown, but it was clean. They had a lot more mobile people, and they were exciting to me because it was the first one I saw with a lot of mobile people. They had activities, but there was no outside walking. There was no exercise, and their security was a little lax for me. We actually put a community deposit down, which we won't get back, but then we started seeing other places with more activity. We want mom to have the happiest longest life that she can have. The food was very good. We ate lunch, and I had shrimp and grits. It was good. They were all nice and wonderful. They all cared for their residents. They all knew them by name and knew their families. It was really a homey, nice place.

I chose Daybreak Village Senior Living. They were getting my mom's room ready. Actually, we just have to sit down and make the care plan, and then she will move in. It seems to be more like a home feel as in your home and not institutional. They are a true age at home place. The staff, without even knowing I was watching, was acting in a very caring and loving manner toward residents that needed extra help. It's very small and personal, and I really feel like my mom will not just be able to survive there, but get the care and thrive. My mom will have a single-person room with a private bathroom. It has a shower, a toilet, a sink, and its air conditioning and heating unit. There are a couple of different options, but this is the one that fits my mom and what she needed. They have an onsite salon, too. They have a podiatrist that comes in. They don't have a lot of amenities such as swimming pools and things, but then my mom is in memory care and isn't looking for that. She's virtually immobile so that's not what we're looking for. The staff took as much time as I needed. I didn't feel rushed or pressured to make decisions or to make any snap judgments on something. There wasn't an area that they did not show me. It was complete visibility throughout the whole process. They took the time to get to know what my mom needs and gave me some information on outside sources that can assist in this process as well. They sent a meal with me, and it was quite yummy. It's shrimp and grits, and it's very good.

My mother was in Daybreak Village Assisted Living. It was amazing. The staff and management provided care for my mother at a crucial time in her life. They were loving, professional, and personable. They listened to my suggestions. They carried out everything I asked in a way that preserved my mother's function for as long as possible. They had activities focused on sensory things like blowing bubbles and applying lotion. They did all kinds of lotion applying activity, and they finger painted. They did all kinds of stuff. The food in the memory unit was good. But they were so willing to do whatever was possible for my mother to be able to feed herself for as long as possible. Like if they had meat loaf, they would make a sandwich out of it, anything that she could feed herself. I would say the food was good from what I saw. It was expensive but Mother was worth it. It was good value.

The facility is tucked away off the road and pretty. A real jewel. I liked that it seemed more homey. It is not a large community, I think licensed for 65. Many of the staff have been there a very long time. 17+ years. And they seem happy. They really love the residents. I had a mom on the Alf side and a dad on the memory side so I got to see how the staff interacted on both sides. They are wonderful and really care. Lots of individual attention. The food is great. Chef Travis pays special attention and will fix something special for them if they prefer something different than what is on the menu. There is a 24 hour menu available. Cooked to order breakfast, my dads favorite! We loved the activity director… she sent pictures almost every day of activities they were both involved in. They have a nice passenger bus with a wheelchair lift and even the memory care residents get to go for site seeing rides. Lots of in person musical performances and three activity centers, one in each area of the building. They have a hair salon on site that does a great job. Same family ownership and management for more than 15 years. We were impressed with the management and COVID policy that kept this community safe. After nearly 10 years there, Both my sweet parents passed away with hospice. I would highly recommend DayBreak. We were there 10 years, since November 2011, in and out of the building constantly. We loved it and we miss them. ❤️ I am excited to be returning to volunteer there, this coming fall. I hope this helps those of you who are looking.

When shopping assisted living facilities for my mother, the staff were very courteous and bent over backwards to sell their facility to me and my mother. However, after my mom moved in, it was evident that the care and facility itself was below standard. The hot water heater broke shortly after she moved in forcing my mother to go to another part of the building to shower. Management kept telling me it would be fixed tomorrow when actually it took almost a month to fix it. Then, her air conditioning unit broke in her room. This time two weeks to repair. Again management made promises that were not kept. During my mother’s stay stay there- almost two years, I did not feel my mother was safe unless she had private sitters. There was simply not enough staff working the floor at any given time. I quickly learned they were short handed on a regular basis because of high turnover. At times, the memory care unit would have one worker to care for 17-20 residents, many of them needing full assistance. The food was sub-standard as well, many items listed on the menu were not available. Low food quality. Management rarely came into memory care and seemed more interested in bringing in new residents than taking care of the existing residents. Memory care had little to no activities except a lady who did arts and crafts with them once a week. It felt as though my mother was forgotten in memory care,
