I visited this facility

While in our uncle’s home town of Jefferson City , we stopped in on the spur of the moment to see the Friendship House while searching for a place for our uncle to live in his golden years. We liked its proximity to St. Mary’s Health Center – which is where our uncle receives his medical care.

The staff was happy to show us around, despite the fact that we didn’t have an appointment. The grounds around the main door were nicely kept, with flower beds and nicely manicured grass. The interior was inviting and we could smell fresh flowers.

The décor was quite nice and fresh. This facility is considerably smaller than others we’ve seen – so the staff to patient ratio is high, which is nice.

Nonetheless, the place is well tended and very nice for seniors who need a bit more care than those who can get around well enough by themselves and just need supervision.

They did have things to do – like books delivered, games and visitors from around the community. The food we tried was good – but nothing outstanding.

However, the overall vibe of the facility is more of a nursing home. Since we were looking for a more independent setup (at least, initially) – we decided that this wouldn’t be a viable option for us.
